  • "A perfect location to get away from it all."

... literally! An upside down house, with stunning views over Loch Rannoch from the small terrace at the end of the lounge area. Extremely comfortable accommodation and quite spacious.

  • "Wonderfully relaxing week !"

The lovely woodland walk with the dogs was a highlight. Safe secure and unspoilt. Fishing was excellent. Swimming in Loch Rannoch is hugely enjoyable. Rural Scotland at its best. We had a spa morning in the local hotel and a visit to the dewars whisky distillery. The sun shone all week and a wonderful feeling of peace sitting on the balcony looking over the loch

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at campbell cottage."

From booking to arrival kept well informed of confirmation, arrival date , directions, things to remember, key code etc. Arrived to find spacious car parking . The cottage was spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything we'd need during our stay . Including tea ,coffee, milk, yummy highland cow shortbread biscuits ,washing up liquid , sponge ,cloth, tea towel etc . The views over Loch Rannoch were simply stunning. There was clear informative instructions as to how everything in the cottage worked , places to eat and lots of tourist information. We were organised by taking supplies with us as other reviews had stated the local shop wasn't well stocked with fresh produce , however we didn't find this at all . Pitlochry and Aberfeldy were both around 20 miles from the cottage (Pitlochry had a co-op) . Or both Asda and morrisons would deliver to the farm should you require. Our personal experience nothing not to like about the cottage. Peaceful, tranquil, stunning views , pet friendly, good car parking facilities, clean comfortable cottage . We would highly recommend and hope to return.

Lots of good walks near by. Make sure to bring all your groceries, local store very limited on fresh produce.

  • "We enjoyed the stay however the cottage was ‘basic’ and lacked some essential kitchen equipment (e."

    G. no baking trays to use in the oven). There was a problem with the water supply at the time of our stay, however the owners provided bottled water for consumption/brushing teeth etc … pre-warning and an option to cancel would have been appropriate instead of a letter on the kitchen table having driven 8 hours. The ‘my three words’ do NOT lead to the cottage and it was difficult to locate in the dark. We also had to travel 90 minutes to the nearest large supermarket and you do not get a sense for quite how ‘remote’ it is until you get there … it is 20 miles down a single lane B Road with occasional ‘passing places’ from the A9 … not good if you suffer from travel sickness. On the positive, it is lovely and quiet and there is a nice cobble beach at the side of the loch for skimming pebbles and there is a surprisingly good mobile network coverage.

We are a bit confused about the journey to the supermarket as both Aberfeldy and Pitlochry are 45 minutes away and there are supermarkets in both towns. Also Asda and Morrisons deliver to Learan Farm. This part of the world is renowned for its wilderness and that’s why our guests come here. Anyway thank you for your input Property Owner

The cottage, facilities and surroundings are lovely. Very clean and comfortable and there is a path across from the cottages you can walk the dogs off lead. The owners were very friendly, helpful and welcoming and we had a lovely stay. We would definitely recommend and would use again!

  • "The property was excellent and in the most beautiful location."

However, we had three dogs with us and there is literally NOWHERE to walk the dogs around the property. In order to exercise them meant either a long walk along the road until we could access a very small rocky beach on the loch, or put the dogs in the car and drive for 30 minutes until we found a decent walk. All in all this was a lovely property, and whilst dogs are welcome, this didn’t work for us at all. Small dogs maybe, but larger dogs who need a walk this really doesn’t work, there isn’t even an enclosed run they can use at the property. We ended our holiday two days early due to being literally STUCK at the house. With the previous in mind we will not be returning to this cottage.

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. You can walk down the farm track opposite the barn, this a two mile walk with open ground so that any dog can run freely. Property Owner

Cottage was lovely and warm but in need of some TLC. Bathroom not as clean as could have been, lamp in living room not working and kitchen area very dark . Bad stains on mattress cover when we stripped the beds which was not very pleasant. Shame really as the location and cottage are beautiful.

  • "What a lovely place to stay."

Little touches (shortbread biscuits, bottle of milk, hot drink ingredients, hand cleaner, washing up liquid, tea towel etc etc) all provided...unlike many other places. I didn't use much (although the biscuits were yummy) but really appreciated the effort. Terrific location. Cottage was warm & light. TV & wifi reception excellent, bed comfy. Met the owner - who was lovely. Will recommend to others & also hope to visit again myself.

  • "Stunning views, lovely hosts, most of the cottage was excellent, but I would like to say if the cottages were mine and I'd jump at chance, I would update the settee."

But that's it the rest is excellent, lovely idea in laundry room dvds, games etc. I understand the new owners took over 2020 or 2021 and have had covid to deal with so hopefully in future these will be updated. We would all go back to these cottages every year without hesitation. They were very helpful hosts to us, polite and I truly wish them all the best. The cottages have everything you need, good instructions, and the hosts left milk, fairy liq, cloths and sponges. Soap and toilet roll in bathroom, towels also provided. Read visitors book, and plenty of info maps etc in drawers. which was very handy. Stunning otherwise and truly what a life waking up to that scene every day. I would definitely go back, even if its the same. Enjoyed our stay immensely and highly recommend.

About the location

KINLOCH RANNOCH

Pitlochry 20 miles; Perth 46 miles.

Kinloch Rannoch grew from a tiny hamlet in the mid 18th century under James Small who had served in Lord Loudon’s Regiment and which consisted of discharged army soldiers and crofters who had lost their land. Roads and bridges were improved to allow ease of movement for soldiers at the nearby Rannoch Barracks. The Sleeping Giant is a hill near the village said to resemble the upper body of a man and local legend states the giant will awake upon hearing his master’s flute playing. The main activity today is tourism and Kinloch Rannoch is ideally located for walking, sailing and angling. The small market town of Aberfeldy is close by and boasts a cinema, leisure centre, restaurants and shops. The town is also the setting for scenes in the Outlander TV series. The tourist town of Pitlochry is also nearby and provides many shops, cafes and restaurants as well as the famous Pitlochry Festival Theatre boasting a different show every night of the week.
