It was lovely and spacious and the neighbours were also very kind to us.

  • "Charming accommodation, well provisioned and maintained."

Set in a lovely, quiet location with a shop and a pub. The beach was a short walk away with access to water activities and coastal walks. There is easy access to towns and historic places of interest. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing break away from it all, yet still within reach of towns and amenities.

We had a great time. Having the stove was an added bonus even in summertime given this year’s interesting weather!

The couches are not the most comfortable and with the shower over bath unit, with it being a high step into the bath, we think there should be a handle on the wall aiding to get in and out of the bath. Despite these issues we still enjoyed our stay with you.

Lovely big kitchen had plenty of utensils/crockery etc. Spacious bedroom and comfy bed. Cottage is handy for shop and pubs. Local beach only 15 min walk away, with an excellent tearoom. For the more adventurous there are great cliffside walks to either Eyemouth or St Abbs. Definitely recommend.

  • "I found the bath plug did not stay put and I needed to put my heel on it."

Apart from that the cottage was a delightful place to stay in and it was exactly the sort of place I would buy if I was moving. Everything was clean, the furniture was just what we needed and the bed was so comfy. On leaving we found the 3 tins on a cupboard in the kitchen contained tea, coffee and sugar. Complete surprise. If you have not used an induction hob before I advise you to google how to use it. Overall perfect. THANK YOU

They were incredibly stiff and on several occasions someone got stuck in the bathroom and had to shout to get the door pushed open from the other side. We resorted to using the bathroom with the door open a bit! Otherwise no issues. Beautiful house. Ready good location.

  • "The cottage is absolutely wonderful."

Very comfy and clean throughout. Really tucked away. Feels very secluded whilst being in walking distance of a local take away (which serves gluten free), two pubs that serve food and the beach cove a bit further walk away or a very short drive away. The cottage garden is really lovely. We were enjoyed sitting out on the deck. There is a small burn (stream) down and the bottom of the garden accessible if you don't mind a steep climb. The village is quaint and worth exploring down the raised wooden paths besides the burn that runs through the village. I really don't have anything negative to say about the cottage. It a real gem of a place.

  • "When we arrived the cottage was clean and there is everything you needed."

The bedrooms are light and airy and the beds are extremely comfortable. We found the sofas in the living room not so inviting though and therefore spent most of our evenings in the kitchen. The little garden at the back could be lovely if only it was maintained better. The decking had not been swept and the trees were over hanging and needed cutting back to let some more of the glorious sunshine in that we had whilst there. There is a new rattan sofa and chairs which are comfortable but the old table and chairs (which were too rickety to sit on) were still there and looked unsightly. It was the same with the front garden. There were 2 chairs that were too old to sit on. There did seem to be a welcome basket too, but it hadn't been refilled which was a shame. However, we did enjoy our stay and its a great base for exploring the surrounding area and the weather was great.

Thank you for your comments. We apologise if you felt the garden was not maintained. The long term gardener is sadly seriously ill, we have now managed to secure someone local to look after the garden and it has recently been cut back. The old garden furniture which has been replaced will be uplifted. The welcome basket is refilled for every stay and I'm assured by the changeover company that this was done as usual. This is not however a requirement but a gesture of goodwill. Regarding the sofas, they are Le Corbusier design classics and we thought leather upholstery would be good so guests didn't have to worry about spillage etc however we have had a few comments about them now and they will be replace in due course. We are very glad you enjoyed the local area. Property Owner

  • "The owner should really consider replacing the sofas and other chairs in the cottage, as NONE of them were comfortable to sit in for any length of time."

Additional table lamps would benefit guests with vision impairment. The step out the patio door from the kitchen is excessively long and deep. The door would benefit from placing a raised step on the outside.

Thank you for your comments. Regarding the sofas, they are Le Corbusier classics, as are the chairs and the sofa in the kitchen which are Charles Eames and have been reupholstered to a high standard. We have however had a few comments about them and appreciate that they are not to everyone's taste. As such, the sofas will be replaced in due course. We are sorry you didn't find the cottage adequately lit but for future guests would like to note that In addition to the 4 large wall mounted lamps in the living room there are 3 table lamps , in the dining kitchen there are under kitchen lights, spotlights in the ceiling and 2 additional table lamps, the main bedroom has ceiling spotlights and 2 bed side lamps while the smaller bedroom has ceiling lights and an additional table lamp. We will ask Sykes to put a note of the lighting provided on the website so those with visual impairment can make an informed choice. Property Owner

  • "Overall I had a lovely week at the cottage."

Beach not too far away although would take car if children very small as its all uphill on the way back. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was really well equipped with everythingyou might need to cater for your family dinners, even the knives were sharp, something I have found lacking in most holiday homes. Beds were really comfortable too. I lost the front door key on my first day there and the owner could not have been more helpful and understanding. The only negative is the seating. Sofas were fine for the kids but I found them impossible to sit on for any length of time. There are also ercol chairs and small ercol couch in the kitchen but again, although these look nice, they are not fit for relaxing into. I spent most of my time sitting at kitchen table. There is nice comfortable garden furniture which I used while my grandchildren played outside, it's unfortunate that the old garden furniture hasn't been removed as this really limits the outside space especially if you want to make use of the outside washing line as I did to hang wet suits etc. However the cottage is in a beautiful quiet location and is a great base for the beach at coldingham and surrounding areas. Better sofas to lounge in would make this property perfect.

Very efficient solid fuel stove for heating with plenty of wood and fuel provided. Lovely private decking area, sun at breakfast time. Cottage is in a very quiet position in the village with the coastline 15 mins walk away. • "Lovely property in a lovely area."

The reason we would be unlikely to return is as follows: We left our dog in the kitchen area with doors closed to go for lunch. This property should not advertise as dog friendly as they are over strict. We have stayed in numerous cottages that are dog friendly and have never been informed that dogs can’t be left for short periods. Obviously on holiday you expect to go for meals. Main issue was the owners accessing the property without our prior knowledge and without us in attendance. This is completely unacceptable and has never happened in any previous stays in cottages. Our personal belongings were out in the open and this really put a dampener on the final days in the cottage. The cottage is lovely but we will not be back for the above reasons and would not recommend this to others purely down to the owners actions stated above.

We weren't expecting such low ceilings. I was just about OK (6'3'') but our son would have had to bend down in all areas of the cottage ground floor. It might be something worth including in the description.

We all loved the sun deck out the back and the children loved the swing over the burn. The local recreation ground was only a five minute walk away, so the children had a safe place to play. The thoughtful hamper of goodies, left in anticipation of our arrival, was most appreciated. The stock of fuel for the wood burner was immense. We also appreciated the items in the store for us to take to the beach. The whole experience was so peaceful. This was possibly the easiest holiday we have taken; all we had to do was relax and enjoy the local area.

However, the sofas were very uncomfortable and made it very hard to relax in an evening. The outdoor furniture badly needed replaced too. The shower was not very easy to get in / out of. We would definitely rate this cottage more highly and consider revisiting if it had new sofas and outdoor furniture!
