East Linton sits in East Lothian and was built over the River Tyne. Early settlement of this area dates back at least to the Iron Age with standing stones evident in the area, for example on Pencraig Hill. The village developed through construction of a number of mills built along the banks of the Tyne and Preston Mill is still working today as a National Trust property and this mill dates from the 1500s. Situated between North Berwick and Dunbar, the village has a good selection of shops, hotels, cafes, post office, pharmacy and ATM. Why not visit Hailes Castle or Tantallon Castle, walk or cycle some of the country paths or venture to the John Muir Country Park and enjoy superb forest walks as well as spectacular Belhaven Bay and Seacliff Beach. With good bus links and rail links from Drem and Dunbar, Edinburgh is only a short journey away and makes a fantastic day out.
