Where you’ll be staying
COATBRIDGE
Glasgow 11 miles; Stirling 22.3 miles.
The town of Coatbridge lies east of Glasgow, in North Lanarkshire and has strong links with Lanarkshire's industrial heritage. Once known as the ‘Iron Burgh’ due to its many ironworks, the town centre’s street layout was largely influenced by the planning of the Baird family who owned one of the town’s largest ironworks. In and around the town there are many attractions including Summerlee - Scottish Museum of Industrial Heritage, a four-star visitor attraction which provides an insight into the industrial history of the area, as well as The Time Capsule leisure centre, which includes a waterpark and an ice rink and the Drumpellier Country Park, boasting two natural lochs, one of which is registered site of special scientific interest. Choose from a number of eateries and a variety of local and high street shops in the town, while there is also a railway line that provides links to Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh.
