  • "We have been using Sykes for many years, and the highlands is one of the best properties we have stayed at."

On arrival we could tell the property had been cleaned to a high standard. This is a spacious bungalow in a quiet residential area, in a beautiful market town, and a gorgeous part of the country. The highlands is an ideal base for exploring Shropshire. We found it easy to visit a variety of National Trust attractions, and local places of interest. Also the highlands is a fantastic base if you love walking as there are plenty of walks on the highlands doorstep. We would love to return to this property and area.

  • "Excellent property, great location and walking routes from the doorstep."

This property had everything we needed to cook evening meals and was equipped for the 4 people staying. Clean and tidy.

  • "The bungalow is comfortable and convenient for town and walks from the doorstep."

The area is very quiet. However, the kitchen is rather spartan as far as equipment is concerned. For example only four of everything (plates, mugs, cutlery etc) so if you break a plate you’re stuck if there are four guests. Could do with some decent wine glasses and more than the three pairs of the other glasses which are available. Also as the season gets colder either warmer duvets or a supply of blankets.

thanku for your help feed back I will address all items Property Owner

Bungalow a long way from Church Stretton. Bath too high so not able to shower, should say not suitable for disabled. On the last day at this property discovered a freezer out in the garage , no mention of this.in details. Biscuits, sweets and milk at property much appreciated, other facilities were fine

I am sorry you could not open windows none of the small top windows are locked all that is needed is to press button in and turn handle I will add detailed instructions to my welcome list . I am led to believe by sykes the freezer s mentioned in my property discribtion, it certainly is stated that a small freezer is available in garage in my welcome letter . Property Owner

  • "The Highlands is a very spacious and tastefully furnished property in excellent condition."

We enjoyed our stay very much and the heating was very welcome in a rather cool July. There is an undercounter size freezer in the garage which isn't mentioned in the description and was very welcome as the fridge is a larder type with no ice box. The single beds were a good size and very comfortable for an adult. It is an ideal centre for National Trust properties such as Croft Castle, Attingham Park, Berrington Hall and Dudmaston Hall as well as English Heritage Stokesay Castle. We would highly recommend the Highlands and very pleased we discovered it on the website.

  • "Hi we found the Highlands comfortable, what would have been helpful a note of what day the bins where due to be put out and perhaps a note of how to use the shower."

we managed how to work out how to operate it although some would perhaps struggle. The only other problem was there was not a sharp knife in the kitchen making it difficult to cut anything like veg etc.

so sorry you didn't locate the bin collection chart it was left with the welcome letter but had found its way on to the floor .kitchen knives have been sharpened for future use so kind of you to leave me a thanku note Property Owner

  • "This was a really bright, spacious and convenient house, close to town, so lots of boxes ticked."

Other guests might want to bring extra cutlery and crockery as the kitchen is fairly minimally equipped and there is no entertainment such as a DVD player or selection of films. The big issue for us was that we had a problem with the bed arrangement (it said sleeps four, but the single beds were children’s beds so not at all suitable for adults), and Sykes were not in the least bit interested and made no attempt to understand our complaint, or to take any action. We have booked through them several times, so clearly no loyalty points either. We will certainly be avoiding them in the future because of their attitude and lack of customer service. Fine when everything is OK, but beware when things go wrong!

  • "Very cute, detached bungalow located in the most stunning and peaceful setting surrounded by the breathtaking Shropshire hills, but only a few minutes’ walk into the centre of Church Stretton."

It has a beautiful and well-maintained garden with plenty of birds (even in the Winter!). We felt very private and comfortable throughout our stay and would definitely return in the future. The owner was very kind and willing to help if anything needed and at the same time very respectful about giving us total privacy, which we very much appreciated.
