Our only adverse comments are about the en-suite and the wardrobe area in the upstairs bedroom. The shower cubicle needs replacing or at the very least new grouting. A shaving mirror above the sink is needed and a toilet roll holder on the wall is needed. Re the wardrobe area, removing the dressing table and using the table plus mirror already in the room would give much needed space for hanging clothes.

  • "The Granary is a spacious qwerky barn conversion set in the countryside beside a road frequently used by tractors and other heavy vehicles, though not busy if you’re a light sleeper this may not be the best place for you."

The kitchen was well stocked with anything you may need in terms of pots, pans, utensils and crockery. My only gripes really is with the bathroom and ‘en-suite’; the latter is very cramped and difficult to use and has certainly seen better days. Furthermore the only mirror in the bedroom itself is in the back of a cupboard but this is also the hanging space area so if have to make a choice to use the rail which then obliterates the mirror or use the mirror and have no place to hang your clothes. The downstairs bathroom toilet seat is in need of replacement whilst the shower curtain and bath mat are in dire need of throwing out as they are obviously old, badly discoloured and in the case of the bath mat mouldy ! This could be a wonderful holiday home if the smaller details weren’t overlooked.

  • "The Granary is a wonderful comfortable character holiday cottage, from the amble lounge through to the double bedroom."

Those with disabilities may fined the stairs somewhat tricky and the upstairs shower a little small, but the downstairs bathroom with over bath shower is good. Kitchen facilities excellent. Comfy beds . The owners are friendly and helpful and the farm cat loves everyone. All in all a lovely relaxing holiday. First came 10 years ago, will be back sooner next time.

  • "The cottage is a fascinating conversion of an old barn and well-equipped in general."

The sofa part of the 3 piece suite is showing signs of wear - splits in the leather seating. (I know from having a gite in Normandy for many years that soft furnishings need to be replaced every few years.) My main problem was not being able to sleep after about 3.30 a.m. because the bedrooms on the ground floor were shaken to the point of rattling the doors by heavy traffic passing the windows at speed; the windows are very close to the road. There appeared to be no double glazing which might have mitigated the problem. My daughter slept on the upper floor - difficult for me to access - and she also felt it though less often. Unless one is a very heavy sleeper this ruins every night; ear plugs could not stop the vibrations. Even Easter Saturday morning was disturbed, though less so. Maybe the parish council could request a speed limit on this minor road. Slower speeds would reduce the effects of the vibrations. The play barn was an excellent area for our five year olds, and helping with feeding the farm animals was a great experience for them. Beware the speed restrictions on the A49 main road; they are not marked in any of the usual ways, just red markings on the road surface which were a total puzzle to me. There are none of the usual higher level warnings or even a reminder of the permitted speed.

It is the perfect place to go with your family with some beautiful walks near by. We enjoyed a day out at Carding Mill Valley. The property owners are lovely and always at hand if you need help with anything. My little one loved feeding the farm animals and the fresh eggs went down a treat. Our dog who has epilepsy was so calm and relaxed at the property. It was just the break that we needed. We enjoyed it that much that we extended our stay from one week to two! The Granary is very spacious, clean and tidy. Logs were provided for the fire and the lighting makes for such a cosy atmosphere. I must admit the kitchen was my favourite place to relax. The lady at Sykes was amazingly helpful. All of the info we needed (location, access etc) was clearly provided in advance of our stay. The property owners were very friendly, there to help if necessary but didn't intrude on our privacy in any way. Lights were left on for our arrival (we got there in the dark), and flowers, a delicious cake, tea, coffee had been left for us. The property itself was full (to the brim) of character, clean, warm and well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the games cupboard and pool table. • "The cottage is just lovely and exactly as shown on the website."

All of the rooms are lovely and the equipment provided in the kitchen is most of what you need to do some holiday cooking. We ate in every night and managed this comfortably. We managed to have a supermarket shop delivered to the cottage as well as a take away delivery but you don;t need to drive far to get to the local shops for everything you need. We really appreciated the efforts of the owners to make the many COVID-19 adaptations such as separate equipment buckets in the play barn with plenty of antibacterial spray and gel. We have two teenagers (17 and 14) and we had such fun playing pool, table tennis and badminton in the barn. The room at the top could be tricky for those with mobility issues but we decided to give this room to our 14 year old daughter who just loved having the four poster bed, own bathroom and games room. The shower up there was also compact but we appreciated having it. It did get incredibly hot up there but we did not predict the unseasonable hot weather we had all week. A couple of small fans would have been appreciated to help with the heat. A bin in the upstairs room and downstairs bathroom would have been appreciated and a dust pan and brush to help keep the kitchen clean as we go would also have been useful. Just tiny points though. The welcome book is very well written in a friendly manner and very informative - you can tell the owners care that you have a nice time in the area. We appreciated the time Tom took to show my husband and son around the farm and my husband had lots of fun helping them get the sheep from the field onto the farm when he spotted they were having difficulties. We have never been on holiday to Shropshire and we would definitely recommend it! There are lots of beautiful and interesting walks and places to visit. We definitely hope to return to the area and hopefully this cottage - thank you for sharing your beautiful farm with us.

There was adequate parking and the welcome pack, including the cake was very gratefully received. The kitchen was well stocked with crockery and cooking utensils. We had a few issues but these were dealt with by the owner's family. I would like to point out that access to the single and twin bedded rooms are good but if one is going to use the double room, access could be a little steep for some. The need to bring towels is , in our recent experience, unusual. We had a good holiday, suggest that booklets giving instructions for the use of the cooker and dishwasher are made available in the cottage.

We were left a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and cake, which was much appreciated. Being on a farm, we had the chance to meet the farmer/owner and his family, plus dogs and cats, and also to take part in feeding the calves. An added bonus was having a pool table inside the property, and access to a games barn (pool, snooker, badminton, table tennis, trampoline) shared with one other property. There is no garden but there is a small enclosed courtyard with table and chairs. There is some occasional road noise as it is right on a lane and large farm vehicles speed past the kitchen window! (Anyone with mobility issues would find access to the master bedroom difficult due to the stairs up and over a beam!) The location of the property makes it a good base for trips out to Shrewbury, Church Stretton, the Long Mynd and Ironbridge. Highly recommended.

The quality the furnishings showed that the owners cared for our comfort. Jeanette took us for a walk around the fields and farm and then Nick showed the boys how to feed the calves, on the last day the boys had a ride on Nick's tractor. Surrounding area was very interesting, plenty to do, we found a couple of recreation fields where the boys could play football and cricket, you do need to drive there but it's not far, one in the next village on A49 towards Church Stretton and another one in Church Stretton itself. Two castle ruins (Clun and Montgomery) for the boys to explore (30 mins away) and Wales is so close we just had to pop over the border and explore some of the area. Plenty of shops nearby and Shrewsbury has a large retail park just 20 mins away. All in all an interesting holiday.

My husband and son loved the pool table above the kitchen so they could get a game in before tea and I only had to shout when it was ready as I knew where they were! The cottage was lovely and spacious every comfort was thought of. When we arrived a tray with tea bags, coffee, sugar and a lovely cake was waiting for us in the kitchen and a pint of milk in the fridge. Later in the week the farmer left us some eggs. Although we were on a working farm it was really quiet so we could enjoy a relaxing holiday! The weather was lovely too so that always helps.
