  • "Had a very comfortable stay."

The interior is very comfortable, decorated well and very cosy inside without feeling cramped. The outside space is lovely with the view from the hot tub which is stunning. The place was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen. My only criticism is the quality of the WiFi, we didn't have a problem until the 4th evening when the WiFi connection was lost and did not come back before we left so we had about 48 hours without a connection. Normally this wouldn't bother me but as there is also no mobile signal and no 4G available inside the property, it was was completely cut off. Added to that was the Sky Glass tv (which was amazing) relies on the WiFi to be able to watch anything. I appreciate that when you're away you're not watching tv but in the evenings this is important and more so when you can't contact anyone or get access to online facilities. Apart from that though we really enjoyed it and I would recommend staying here. We would love to come back again in the summertime and get a different experience that comes with that time of year.

Hi, many apologies for the WI-FI issue. Unfortunately we have still had issues with repairs following damage from the Storm Darrah - something that effected the entire local area. I do hope you managed to enjoy your time at the cottage and we look forward to welcoming you back. Many thanks for your understanding. Best wishes. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely but a number of issues really impacted negatively upon our stay and little was done by way of a compensation gesture other than a sorry."

The property is very isolated, which is fine, BUT we had no phone coverage or WiFi for two of our four days so we could not contact anyone, nor could we watch the advertised Sky Glass TV or use laptops or tablets ; my husband could not do any of the work he needed to do and we had to go out during the day to work rather than fully enjoying our break. As there were no pubs, shops or restaurants within five miles, we were effectively trapped as we could not even phone a taxi to take us out for the evening. We also have elderly parents who we could not check upon which was very worrying. We missed some of the basics as in soap, shampoo or shower gel and there were no teatowels available; a small thing but surprisingly necessary. We missed the usual 'Welcome Hamper' although the lovely maintenance man did bring us a bottle of wine.Hot water was somewhat limited and only a quick shower was really possible. I have a chronic back problem and always book accommodation with a tub; but having a bath was not possible due to limited hot water supply. The cottage has a septic tank and we did experience some issues with flushing the toilet, somewhat embarrassing. We did love the cottage, and I do not wish to be negative but I honestly feel prospective guests need to be aware of potential problems. The setting is gorgeous and the pub we visited, The Miners, was incredibly welcoming but, we were disappointed by the issues we experienced, even more so that we were not offered anything by way of compensation. Sadly, I would not stay again.

We were very sorry and frankly disappointed to receive your negative feedback, but would like to clarify some points. I did also try to call your mobile number that you left with Alex a couple of times, but there was no answer or opportunity to leave a message. Alex ( our very helpful maintenance man who brought you a bottle of wine ) had mentioned you commenting to him on two occasions that you were having a lovely stay, but unless you received some financial compensation 'you would be inclined to leave a poor review online'. Our internet, like most properties in that region, was either down or intermittent during your stay due to the horrendous Storm Darragh a fews days before ( this was the worst UK storm this year ). I hope you appreciate that unfortunately Mother Nature is outside our control. I did also hear that you were complaining about the property WI-FI to the local people whilst visiting the wonderful Minors Arms Pub, which incidentally is only 4 miles from the house. I heard the local people confirmed to you that the internet issue was a problem for everyone in the area. I was also surprised to note your further comments on the lack of pubs, shops and restaurants within five miles? Bishop's Castle is 4.6 miles from our door and has 6 lovely pubs and two restaurants. There is a also a well stocked COOP and petrol station - also with a food and beverage shop. Never once has any guest commented on not being able to flush the toilet, and certainly having checked with Alex this is not something he was informed of. Nobody in our years of rental has ever complained that there is not plenty of hot running water. We pride ourselves on the exceptional high standard we maintain our property. The cottage is immaculately clean, extremely well equipped and beautifully furnished. The 4 acre country gardens are manicured overlooking our 'picture postcard' lake and the Shropshire Hills - something almost every guest comments on ( especially whilst enjoying the hot-tub ) in our reviews. I do hope you your next stay in the Shropshire countryside will be more comfortable. Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay!"

The accommodation is beautiful and the bed is super comfy. The hot tub is only a few steps from the property and the perfect way to relax at the end of a day exploring. Towels are provided. The surrounding views of the gardens are amazing. The outdoor areas directly outside the properly are well lit on an evening. We explored Ludlow, Stiperstones, the Long Mynd, Shrewsbury, Church Stretton and Carding Mill Valley which were all <40 mins away. Further afield we got to Lake Vyrnwy, Pistyll Rhaeadr, Ironbridge and Much Wenlock. If you’re planning to eat out on an evening, Bishop’s Castle, Ludlow and Shrewsbury are the closest places with the most options. Thanks for a lovely mini-break. We would throughly recommend!

  • "Hi there, we just returned from a weekend at your beautiful cottage."

I have never stayed in such an amazing cottage (and I have stayed in a few)! From the facilities with the hot tub, beautiful gardens, kitchen equipment to the beautiful touches of making sure the cottage heating was on and was lovely and warm on arrival. I also LOVED finding the book inside written by the author at Pultheley Cottage and will have to buy a copy now :)! Thank you very much for a perfect stay!

  • "A fantastic property in extensive grounds."

A real treat to benefit from the great outdoors. Very nice inside, all very comfortable. Great to have the hot tub. A lovely place to be based for a break in Shropshire. A couple of small points - somewhere to hang coats and a guest book would be nice. Would be ideal to read recommendations of places to go and to eat from fellow guests. We plan to return and highly recommend.

  • "Beautiful place to stay, excellent accommodation in a wonderful setting."

Easy to find and access instructions simple. All the essential equipment is provided and easy to use. The setting is extraordinary and the hot tub has amazing views over the garden and pond where you can watch the kingfisher diving and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. It is a short drive to Bishops Castle or Craven Arms, an easy drive on to Ludlow and further. Would highly recommend staying here although currently the main house is empty so this added to the privacy, not sure how this would be if there were other people in and around. The only drawback for us personally was the amount of feathers I.e. bedding and cushions, this would have been useful to know as we had to then buy alternatives during our stay, however this would not put us off revisiting this property,

Only issue we had was the catch on the freeze compartment in the fridge was broken and held by bluetac. Difficult to keep shut so things in the fridge also froze.

Hi - many apologise for the issue with the freezer compartment door - we have only just been made aware of this issue. We have offered a brand new fridge freezer which will be installed on the 20th Aug 24. Very happy you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back Property Owner

  • "Beautiful location."

Extremely peaceful. Property and gardens very well maintained. Perfect for a chill-out break for a couple. Hot-tub definitely a winning feature. Only small disadvantage is that it is necessary to drive to nearest pub/restaurant as it several miles away. This property is on our 'Must return' list. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Our only gripe was the skylight window in bedroom, it needs a blackout blind , lovely to see the night sky but not so great the early dawn light !! Information file /booklet would also be very useful .

Hi, many thanks for your feedback. We noted your comments on the Velux window in the bedroom not having a blind - we have now installed an integrated Velux blockout blind to resolve this ( images are uploaded to view on the website ) - again many thanks for the feedback. We do hope you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again. Very best wishes Robin & Isabel Property Owner

  • "The cottage was very well maintained and as stated, in beautiful private gardens."

On our departure day it was raining so it was good that the car was under cover for packing. The cottage was very warm and there was ample hot water. The shower was excellent and the kitchen was well equipped. Towels were provided for the hot tub and there was plastic glasses provided for the patio. The only cons I would say was no blinds on the Velux windows, especially the one over the bed which made the bedroom very light in a morning. Also there was no provision for recycling and rubbish. No instructions for dishwasher etc and departure information. It also said in the amenities, washing machine and tumble drier, neither of which we saw but we weren’t concerned as we wouldn’t have needed them.

  • "Ideal cottage for a couple in a beautiful location."

Quality throughout from the luxurious towels to all the kitchen equipment. Lovely hot tub too. If you have an EV the free Zappi charger is a real plus. The area is beautiful too with lots to do. Some nice local walks and friendly pubs. Ludlow or Shrewsbury are excellent if you need some retail therapy or history. As the description says the entrance stairs are quite steep but safe. The handrail could do with a clean to avoid getting dirty green stuff in your hands. The local support is quickly on hand if needed. Lovely people. One point to note is the TV is uniquely provided via Wi-Fi (Sky Glass TV) which is very intermittent. It makes watching any TV almost impossible without extensive buffering and waiting mid sentence.

Hi Mr Horrobin, thank you for your feedback. We have had a brand new handrail fitted and anti-slip treads installed to the stairs. All the Annex oak has been treated and is now immaculate grey oak ( the winter months does cause a slight Algae due to our natural location ). Whilst you were staying, I also have now been informed that the internet provider had issues due to previous bad weather. This has also been fully rectified. I do hope you enjoyed your stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you back. Very best wishes Robin & Isabel Property Owner

The kitchen work surfaces look a little tired but they are made of wood. Otherwise a great little property and very clean
