Briar Orchard Annex is a charming one-bedroom cottage, bursting with character and located in the rural hamlet of Ammerham in Somerset.

Surrounded by glorious traditional countryside and located near an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the borders of both Devon and Dorset, this delightful retreat is perfect for couples looking for a relaxing break within easy reach of many popular local attractions.

Believed to have once formed part of the local Forde Abbey estate, this cosy and welcoming cottage retains many original features and has character in abundance.

The spacious living room overlooks the pretty front cottage-style garden and is adorned with some intriguing objects which give a nod to the property’s age.

A toasty woodburning stove is the focal point in this room inviting you to relax in one of the comfortable chairs and sit quietly with a book.

At the rear of the cottage, the bright kitchen is equipped with everything needed for a self-catering holiday, whether preparing a delicious evening meal or a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day.

Heading upstairs, the king-size bedroom is another spacious room that enjoys far-reaching views over the countryside beyond.

The bathroom, with a large walk-in shower, is also located on this floor.

The front garden with cottage-style planting is a delightful spot where you can sit at the bistro table and chairs with your morning coffee and really appreciate the tranquil setting while planning your day ahead.

The rear of the cottage is home to the owner's chickens and a small flock of Herdwick sheep - please make time to say hello to Daisy and Maisy!

Although there is no parking at this cottage, it is possible to park in the quiet lane alongside the property.

This wonderful rural spot offers numerous walks and bridleways perfect for when you want to get out and about and enjoy some fresh air.

Thorncombe village has a community-run shop/post office/café with the vibrant and much sought-after village of Winsham offering local amenities including the Post Office/general store and The Bell Inn, a traditional pub serving a selection of local and traditional ales as well as traditional country pub food.

For greater facilities, Chard and Crewkerne are within 4 and 7 miles respectively, with the independent shops, supermarkets, and farm shops well stocked with local produce and perfect for your day-to-day essentials.

An attractive rural South Somerset village, close to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, overlooking the Axe Valley, on the borders of Dorset and Devon. Being situated on the Liberty Trail and the Wessex Ridgeway, there are plenty of walking opportunities affording wonderful views straight from the door, and those who love exploring beautiful gardens and country houses are spoilt for choice with Forde Abbey, East Lambrook, Barrington Court as well as Montacute House, used as a setting for TV's Wolf Hall, all a short drive.
