It was brilliant for a dog as all the floors were wooden and having a stable door meant we could keep the upper half open without worrying about the dog getting out . I loved the sound of running water outside my bedroom. The chickens and cats (especially Badger the cat) were friendly and it was great to be able to buy some eggs. Gary and Jackie were helpful and happy to talk about the farm. Lovely to walk around.

Set in the grounds of a working farm with chickens roaming freely and located in a quiet country lane surrounded by pleasant countryside. The only noise to be heard is the occasional steam train that runs close to the large grounds of the farm The property has been tastefully converted from a mill and still retains many original features. Inside the property the stream that used to power the mill provides a gentle relaxing sound as it runs close by. The Mill provides comfortable accommodation with a large kitchen and a quirky dining room with loads of character. There is plenty of outside space for sitting and relaxing within a most relaxing environment.

The Mill could do with a little investment - thicker mattress on the double bed and fitted sheets, a knife sharpener and one decent kitchen knife, getting all the lights working, ideally a shower as well as or instead of a bath. Couldn’t sleep in upstairs bedroom because of the noise of torrent of water thundering past window. Had to sleep downstairs in uncomfortable beds with sheets that didn’t fit bed and it was cold. Equipment basic ,broken handle on cupboard door. Oven not clean cooker needed replacing. Bathroom only one step above none existing, it was dreadful. Whole place needed a good clean to get rid of all the cobwebs. Presume Sykes haven’t actually inspected this place as it was well below anything we have stayed in previously.

It is a beautifully converted former cider mill with a stream running alongside which lulls one to sleep at night. The rooms are simply and tastefully furnished and the setting within the farm, with the lovely old farmhouse across the yard, works well. It is very quiet. My daughters and I plus dog had a great time both at the cottage and exploring the vicinity. It's a perfect location for walking on the Quantacks - which are quite stunning. We very much hope to return to this cottage and this beautiful corner of Somerset.

Cute quirky house. Kids had such a great time, playing in the stream, making friends with the chickens. Farmer so friendly. Few little bits to feedback to owners, double mattress super thin and uncomfy, I ended up sleeping on kids single bed, bathroom lock doesn't work, spatula has no handle, and cupboard with glasses has no handle. The listing mentioned games books and dvds, but none there, (although we did leave a jigsaw behind!) Also lots of cobwebs, and dust in corners, it could do with a spring clean! But overall lovely. Thank you.

However the kitchen was basic and the seating area could do with some new furniture, as what was there was old and uncomfortable, same with the beds. The garden was not enclosed at all which ment we could not let the dog out alone and maybe updated garden furniture to. The WiFi kept dropping in and out ,and the phone signal was bad (but it was nice to be off grid at times) . All that being said it was a nice retreat to get away from it all. The couple who own the property are friendly and made us feel welcome. Some good local pups where you can take your dog ie The Bicnoller arms and The Blue Ball.

The cottages are close to the beautiful Quantock Hills in North Somerset and only 5 miles from the spectacular coastline. These stunning converted farm buildings, close to the mill stream and set within 30 acres of working farmland, offer a unique farm stay for families and groups of friends, with views of the West Somerset steam trains, green meadows and lush woodland to wander into and chickens, lambs and ponies for children to admire. All four cottages have retained their interesting features such as exposed rustic oak beams, stone walls and wooden floors but have been well furnished to provide a comfy, cosy farm cottage with a friendly welcome from the owners who are only too happy to share their rural life with guests. They would be delighted to introduce you to the friendly farm cats, and encourage you to collect and buy fresh hen eggs and other items for a tasty farmhouse breakfast. The cottages are dog friendly and guests are free to wander the farm meadows and woodlands with their pets, or relax alongside the stream and listen to the plentiful birds, especially the arrival of the swallows in Spring. Within a mile is the pretty village of Bicknoller, nestling on the slopes of the Quantock Hills and having a useful village shop, a welcoming pub serving local food and ales, plus footpaths leading up into the hills with breathtaking views of the surrounding unspoilt countryside that inspired the famous poets Coleridge and Wordsworth. The Coleridge Way, a 36-mile footpath, follows in their footsteps all the way to Porlock on the coast and provides some stunning walks where you may possibly spot the native red deer that roam the hills. There are some fabulous beaches just 5 miles from the cottages, such as Blue Anchor which is dog friendly or Watchet which also has a pretty harbour and interesting shops. These Somerset cottages offer a chance to stay in a historic property with a choice of fine inland scenery and a dramatic coastline.
