  • "Lulu Logs was a lovely place to stay for our holiday."

Greeted with a lovely welcome hamper & card.. with a very informative welcome pack. The lodge is decorated out beautifully. The land the lodge is on is brilliant, with a great big field & you’re also facing out at the sunsets. The ceiling fans are a great idea too. We had a really lovely comfortable stay. The owners are on hand if you did need anything. Totally recommend.

  • "Siting of the property was great with a large field in front that our young grandchildren had free reign to exploring, play games and release energy."

Ample crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, etc but only 4 dining room chairs for a 6 berth home. To many 'niknaks' on all surfaces for my taste but we moved these to make room for our clutter

Hi Sally and family. Really nice that you enjoyed the outdoor space . There is a lot of room for outdoor enjoyment in the field and great you made the most of this. I know with young ones that often ornaments have to be relocated Property Owner

  • "This cottage is well situated with access to large field and was not overlooked."

The field was very wet / boggy when we were there and we did not see any wildlife. The cottage itself was clean and the beds very comfortable. Its a quirky décor which we liked and was warm. We had no dishwasher whilst we were there and reported this on the second day still no dishwasher when we left. It is clearly an old machine no instructions left and when we looked up instructions on the internet the flashing lights indicated heating element fault. With all markings on buttons worn off and a few numbers drawn on by felt tip pen this needs replacing. We self catered for most of our stay but there only being one oven shelf in bottom oven made this a challenge. It was lovely to have the welcome basket when we arrived which was a nice gesture. Its great o have a washing machine (especially with a young grandchild in tow but an airier would have been nice to dry clothes the line provided outside was impracticable this time of year. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the surrounding area. Al the main tourist attractions were within easy drive.

Hi Robin. Thanks for all the positive feedback . Unfortunately you must have missed the dishwasher details which are clear about the Smeg dishwasher. It forms part of the retro vibe and works well. THERE IS NOW A BRAND NEW DISHWASHER IN THE CABIN Property Owner

The cabin is clean well furnished and has a log fire to keep you extra toasty if you want a lazy night in. With lots to do, within easy reach and great pub food on the door step! (Talk to Gary at the Plough!) Highly recommend, and will be coming back.

Would be fantastic to see you again. So good to hear you enjoyed our lovely local pub and landlord. Thx so much for your kind review . Property Owner

Being a disabled lady the layout was so easy to get around and all being on 1level we will be back. Also Rosie the dog loved watching the deer, squirrels and birds on the grass. A perfect place to stay.

  • "Lulu Logs is a lovely property - very spacious, well equipped, very clean and very comfortable."

The cabin was ideal for my father as it is all on one level. It was very cosy and warm, with sunlight streaming in through the patio doors, which had a lovely outlook onto the shared garden area. Although the very large garden is shared, each cabin had it's own private patio area which was not overlooked by the cabins to the side due to strategically placed, useful sheds. Everything was ready for our arrival, the beds were made up with clean linen and clean towels were provided. Thoughtful little extra touches, such as 'emergency' kitchen and toiletry items, were appreciated, as was the welcome pack. Although we were initially missing a pair of oven gloves, this was resolved when the owner turned up at the door within minutes of my text. Not an issue and easily sorted with a bit of communication! The owners were pleasant and friendly. The location is quiet and peaceful. It is ideal for visiting the coast and countryside attractions throughout Somerset and getting to Bristol. There are also several dog friendly pubs in the area which serve nice meals. We would definitely stay again if we were to holiday in Somerset in the future.

Hi Sally, so so kind of you to take the trouble to sit down and write this review. Much appreciation is sent to you for your positivity. We love the cabin and obviously want our guests to feel the same. So happy that you and your family enjoyed the cabin and the fabulous surroundings and area. We would love to have you back. Very clean, comfortable beds and Kitchen appliances that are easy to use. Great field at the front of the lodge which was brilliant for our dog to play in. Good location within easy reach of tourist attractions. Local pubs very welcoming with good food. Also good choice of takeaways nearby. Overall can't fault Lulu's. Thank you so much for a great stay and the lovely welcome treats. Would highly recommend!

Thank you so much for your brilliant review. It was lovely to meet you and when we chatted about different items that had been especially sourced for Lulu Logs, it was so clear that you enjoyed and appreciated these things. They evoked good memories for you, which was exactly what we wanted to achieve in the cabin. Freddy the dog was gorgeous and he obviously enjoyed the green field to have a run in. Thank you for being such thoughtful guests. Always good when guests make the most of the setting Property Owner

  • "I will start at one end and work my way to the other."

The towels provided had a very strong mildew smell. We were 3 adults and 1 child staying for 6 days. They provided just one extra roll of toilet paper. Hand soap was provided on the sinks of the two bathrooms. For the bathroom off of the big bedroom, no soap was provided nor was there a proper place to put it. We bought bar soap from Tesco and I balanced it on some of the pipes. Wasps kept trying to come in and make nests and that might be why the bathroom vents have all been taped up on the outside. The hot water was powered by gas. The instructions for the cabin said is the gas run out to change the tank if we felt comfortable with being able to do it. It did not say what to do if we were not comfortable doing that. Even when we had not been using it, the hot water would sometimes not be hot. Staying in an unfamiliar place, we wanted to leave the light on in the hallway bathroom. Unfortunately, there is no way to have the light on without the exhaust fan also running. It was annoying having to hear the exhaust fan all night. The hallway bathroom did not flush properly, but we were able to fix that. It simply had not been set up properly. The kitchen was a place of multiple problems. There were no instructions on how to use the oven. The oven knobs had the numbers 1 through 8 on them. No temperature markings. No idea of how to know when the oven was up to temperature. Many of the dishes and silverware provided to us were dirty. Most of the knives were dull and flimsy. The only sharp knife was a little paring knife. There was a spoon in the drawer with old milky tea dried in it, as if it were used to stir a drink and then just put directly back into the drawer. Also, one of the bowls on the kitchen shelf has several dried hardened on spots of mystery splatter in it as well as an aged, gummy candy stuck to the inside of it The inside door latches were difficult to operate. We had to tape over one door because my grandson got trapped in a room and was unable to open the door. The sliding glass doors in the living room are not properly sealed on one side, so there was a steady stream of flies coming in.

Thank you for your feedback, which is highly unusual. The towels are always both hung on lines for freshness and then are also tumble dried, we do leave everyone a card with the welcome pack, saying if any concerns or help needed to contact us personally, we include our number and would have immediately changed any towels for you if we had known. Your booking was for 5 nights and the bathrooms has a toiler toll each plus a spare, so three in total. There are hanging shelves in the shower , and both bathrooms always have hand soap, which where new. I have never seen wasps but of course an occasional one may be around as the property is in a rural location, the area has been fully checked by me and none were found There is a gas bottle which is for the gas oven not the hot water, as the hot water is powered by electricity. The gas is stored in a field with a spare and would only ever rarely run low as it is checked regularly, we leave a message that if does ever run low, guests can of course change if they prefer and if convenient for them or we will of course do it if we are contacted that it is running low. We would have assisted straightaway if we had needed to explain on how to get more hot water if needed. The fan is of course for ventilation, which due to regulations comes on whenever the bathroom light is switched on. There is also a light on in the hallway which both lights up the hallway and also the way to the bathroom, so the bathroom light/fan extractor does not need to be put on unless the bathroom is being used. As the oven is gas which is quite usual in the UK, it would not have any electric temperature dials, but we would of course have explained how to check online for the equivalent temperature rating that you are used to so that you could select the correct gas mark temperature. Our cleaning company is usually very good which is reflected in our usual excellent reviews and top scores and any oversight would have been addressed immediately. The indoor latches will be checked straightaway, all indoor doors are also rolllable so can be pushed from the other side, I'm sorry if you weren't aware of this at the time and that your grandson was not too distressed. The sliding glass door would have been checked immediately had we known of any concern. We do give our contact number out in the information inside the property as we are always approachable day and night and Sykes Cottages also have a dedicated helpline for guests who need any help at all during their stay, indeed Sykes helped advise you on where to find the property location etc, guiding you to the address information on a previous email and you also advised them that you had arrived. I am truly sorry that neither Sykes or myself were given the opportunity to help you during your stay itself, as it does not seem any concerns were raised by you until your feedback came through, a few days after your check out date. Really nice welcome pack and a very thoughtful "in case you forgot" pack with toothbrushes etc. A lot of hard work and thought has gone into these holiday homes. Everything you could think of provided. Our cabin was decorated in 60s style with so many lovely touches. The deer made an appearance as did rabbits, housemartins, pied wagtails and other birds. Just missed out on the badger!! All in all I would highly recommend Lulu Logs.
