"This is our second stay at the cottage it is a lovely cottage in a wonderful location the owners wonderful and helpful."
But my wife and I both agree the furniture and bed mattress are looking tired and feeling uncomfortable, our biggest issue is the bathroom the smell of mold or sewage or both was very unpleasant.
Sorry to here you had some issues with the barn on your recent stay at the Nuthatch barn.
The sofa in the living area is probably not as comfy as it once was and we are currently looking for a replacement.
The bed mattress is a quality mattress and only 3 to 4 years old. Nobody has ever complained before and many of our guests have commented how comfy it is
Your most serious complaint was a smell in the bathroom which could probably been dealt with straight away if we were informed. There is certainly no damp or mold in there. There does not seem to be any unpleasant odours there now and nobody else has made a complaint but
we've cleaned out all the traps/ u bends etc, to be satisfied there's no problem
Very disappointed that you didn't bring these issues to our attention when we had several conversations before you left

"Sally and Tim were more than helpful during our 4 week stay at Nuthatch."
The barn was neat, clean and tidy with very good facilities. We enjoyed the wonderful views of the countryside. The location is great with easy access to the M4 and a variety of shops and eateries. We highly recommend both the property and hosts and are currently planning a return long stay in 2025

Seeing woodpeckers in the garden on a regular basis was a bonus. The cottage is in a rural location and some of the nearby roads are quite narrow with high hedges so some care is needed when driving.

"Nuthatch Cottage was perfect for us, we had everything we needed in the cottage and the Owners were very friendly and helpful."
We felt very relaxed watching the birds on the feeders in the garden.
Perfect location to visit Cardiff, we caught the train from Pontyclun it was so easy.

"Wow, wow, wow."
... what a gem Nuthatch Barn is, it was exceptionally clean, very well equipped and comfortable with everything I needed for my stay. The bottle of wine and welsh cakes were a lovely welcome touch too.
It's in a fantastic, peaceful location just a short journey from Cardiff and Barry Island and many other wonderful locations like the Brecon Beacons, Porthcawl and Ogmore Beach (perfect for dogs all year round). Pontyclun is a short walk away and it was a picturesque walk at that.
I loved that it was also on a working farm, it was wonderful to see all the sheep, lambs, cows and calves.
I stayed for 5 nights with my 4 legged best friend and he appeared to enjoy his stay as much as I did.
I cannot recommend Nuthatch Barn highly enough, Tim and Sally are the perfect hosts and I look forward to returning again soon.

This wonderful little hideaway in the beautiful Welsh countryside is just the ticket if you're looking for peace & quiet and plenty of fresh air. Tim & Sally have done a super job in fitting out this barn conversion with plenty of attention to luxury. I cannot rate this highly enough!

Regarding Sykes Cottages;
I had to install What’s app Just to contact Sykes cottage's they wouldn’t message me information as it was booked in my husbands name so he then had to install the app. There was no phone contact listed on the sight and it was the only way to contact them.initially. when we enquired about bringing the 3 nights forward by a day Sykes wanted to charge us £30 admin fee which we thought was a bit steep so we didn’t bother.

"Lovely property, well cared for and very helpful owners."
After asking about good walks for the dog the owner Tim said we could take the dog to any field as there was not stock on the farm that week. Dog was in his happy place, sniffing and wondering around the fields (on his long lead).
We intend to stay again when visiting family.

"Nuthatch Barn was perfect place to stay with my small granddaughter while we visited family nearby."
She loved watching the woodpeckers on the feeder and the rabbits in the neighbouring field. Nuthatch was warm and comfortable and had everything we needed for our short stay. Sally and Tim were very welcoming and nearby if we needed anything. Highly recommended!

Tim and Sally are lovely people and made us feel really welcome. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need. We had great sleep in the comfiest bed too. Our little dog Alfie loved the garden and having walks through the fields. I would thoroughly recommend staying here, we didn’t want to leave. We’d definitely like to return for another holiday soon !!

"The hosts were absolutely brilliant; nothing was too much trouble, they provide a really personal service."
The cottage is located in a rural area, but any convenience you require is located within a 15 minutes drive.
The enclosed garden and patio area provide a wonderful sun trap allowing you to relax in the open air.
We had a wonderful relaxing week and most definitely will be booking to stay there again.

Our daughter and family were in the next door barn and was just great . We went out together from the location which was very good and still have lots to see. The weather was not great but we did not mind. The Barn was beautiful and had everything for a home from home. Which is what it felt like. Thank you for a lovely stay we could not fault a thing. We will return.

The enclosed area with the nuthatch Barn is ideal if you’re taking your dog. Inside there is all you need, well equipped kitchen, big bedroom with plenty of storage. There are walks you can go on and there’s a field next to the barn that was available to exercise your dog. our dog loved it
