  • "Spotlessly clean, warm and quiet with a lovely ambiance."

You have control of both the heating and water timings and temperatures. Well appointed with crockery and cutlery, meaning there was plenty to use between dishwasher loads. Its one of a group of 4, all connected. But felt very private with a lovely flat fenced, secure, paved garden. With lots of plants, seating under cover and no noise from the other properties. The outside chairs could do with a little tlc, but everything else was excellent. Beds and 2 large settee's, very comfortable and good TV and wifi reception. We did not find accessing/or the upstairs kitchen an issue. As the stairs were gentle and wide with handrails and it was such a lovely large light space, with a dining table and small excellent 4 star freezer, inside the top of the fridge. Welcome milk/tea/coffee/sugar and cake was a nice touch, along with all cleaning/dishwasher tablets and kitchen roll/trays provided. The wet room upstairs was spacious, warm with an excellent shower and non slip floor. (Fan was a bit noisy) The bathroom down stairs was smaller, but equally warm, with a very comfy bath and non slip floor, a quiet fan and both bathrooms had plenty of hot water and towels. Very responsive owner both onsite and by phone and despite major loss of time due to a total failure of our car, it was so well positioned for getting to Motorway/A roads, we still reached Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire all within 90 minutes drive and managed a relaxing stay. Due to it being October half term 2024, traffic was heavier than goggle allowed for journeys. Would 100% recommend and not hesitate to return.

  • "The cottage was very cozy and the beds were comfortable."

The kitchen had all the equipment required. The only thing missing was a freezer, it wasn't mentioned in the amenities but i assumed there would be a freezer! Can I mention that it would e a good idea to have a notice saying "holiday cottages this way". The large gate looks to be leading leading to an open field, the path winds round to the cottages which can't be seen from the road. My partner Geoff and I had an enjoyable week visiting such places as Glastonbury, Burnham on Sea, Weston Super Mare, and Cheddar Gorge. We visited Wells Cathedral and when we saw the charge was £14 for a years entrance fee we decided not to bother. All told we had an enjoyable week and fortunately we had very little rain that week.

  • "Excellent, beautiful setting and, well presented."

3 things in need of improvement, the sign at the gate is only visible when traveling from Cheddar not from the opposite direction, the downstairs bath would benefit from a handhold on the wall as we are in our 70s and found it difficult, the lounge and kitchen on different floors with stairs in-between made it difficult to carry coffee cups downstairs. Otherwise clean well equipped and a clever conversion..

Thank you for your kind comments Adrian. I am sorry you didn't find the bed the most comfortable, it is impossible to suit all tastes with beds, a bit like Marmite. The majority of our guests have found them to be comfortable. You would be very welcome to return at any time. Property Owner

The cottage was so well equipped, every little detail had been thought about. Plenty of cutlery, plates and glasses, comfy beds and great views. It was so peaceful as well and my little boy loved going to see the horses. Very well positioned to explore the surrounding areas, Clevedon, Weston-Super-Mare, Cheddar, and a few nice pubs close by when driving. Thank you, we'll be back!

  • "The property was very well presented, comfortable and very clean."

It was a lovely touch that there was fresh flowers. The owners had also supplied tea, coffee, sugar and milk. It would have been good to have known this as we brought our own along with us. We were also very grateful for the cake, which was a lovely surprise. The property was ideally situated for visiting Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and Weston Super Mare. It would have been helpful if the description of amenities close by was updated. We had planned to go to the local hotel/restaurant in Shipham before we went to the property only to find it had closed down so had to change our plans.

Thank you for your review Patriciia with some nice comments. It is a shame about the local pub closing, which is a very recent event and we are hoping it will re-open shortly. There is another very good pub/restaurant at Star which is also in walking distance. I have updated our guest notes to that effect. Property Owner

The Forge is very well equipped and we were also very impressed by the recycling station. The only other feedback we would give is that we received conflicting information about when and how the property should be vacated from Sykes (probably due to rules changing so frequently over the last few years), so it would have been useful to have clear expectations set out in the blue folder. We had a lovely meal in the Star Inn, many thanks for the recommendation.

Thank you for staying with us Jenny and for your excellent feedback. We have implemented your suggestion and have now added vacating notes to the information folder. We would love to see you again. Property Owner

  • "Upon arrival I was met kindly by one of the owners of the cottages who showed me where to park, and walked me to the cottage I had rented."

Upon entering the cottage, it was noticeable that it had been recently cleaned top to bottom, and complimentary scones, jam, clotted cream, and strawberries were on the side, with a pint of milk in the fridge for a well needed cup of tea. There was an itinerary on the desk with records of what and how the place had been cleaned, and instructions on how the appliances worked in the cottage. Also included were menus of local places that were recommended, and I can say now that I recommend them too. Clean towels were laid out on the beds ready for use, and the beds although unfamiliar, were comfy. One evening we brought back fish and chips from a local shop, and the lady owner brought over salt, vinegar, and tomato ketchup for us to use, which we were very grateful for. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
