  • "Absolutely amazing property, well equipped."

From arriving to departing, the stay was perfect. Loved the log burner and the garden. Saw the pool but didn’t use it due to the time of year. Local pub with food is a 5 mins drive away Plenty to do and see in the area. Owners gave some really fantastic ideas on the first day so wasn’t in much during the day, didn’t get chance to see half of what I wanted to see. Lots of places to go walking. Will definitely be booking again

Thank you Joanne for your lovely feedback and we were delighted that you enjoyed your stay in the Granary and found plenty to see and do in the area. It was a pleasure to have you staying with us. I am sorry I wasn't home to wish you Bon voyage last Friday and hope your journey went well. We look forward to welcoming you back here again, perhaps in the summer when you can make use of the pool and garden more. Best wishes, Bridget and Simon Property Owner

The property

The small, rural village of Edington is situated between Glastonbury and Bridgwater, and is an excellent base for exploring this historic and beautiful part of England.

On the edge of the Polden Hills and Somerset Levels, the open landscape is perfect for cycling, bird watching, fishing and walking.

The Quantocks, the Mendips and the cities of Bath and Wells are all within easy reach.

The Granary is a super holiday cottage in the grounds of the owner's' extensive home.

Pristine gardens conceal a solar heated plunge pool (available 1st May until August by prior arrangement with the owner).

Inside, the living space is open plan, with lofty ceilings, feature stone walls and glazed doors which look over the garden.

From the neat kitchen, steep stairs lead to the bright and airy bedroom on the mezzanine.

The Granary is a Grade 2 listed late 18 century modernised building constructed of Blue Lias stone and lime mortar.

During renovation some of the walls were plastered internally with traditional lime and horse hair render according to the requirements of Historic Buildings.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

The town of Bridgwater is an interesting destination with a bustling shopping centre. Being situated close to the Mendip Hills in the North and the Quantocks to the West, the town has several buildings of historical interest, an excellent selection of restaurants and pubs and is notable for the annual Bridgwater Illuminated Carnival in November using over 20,000 light bulbs resulting in a mesmerising display of colour, sound and entertainment. Cheddar is only a few miles away as is Glastonbury, home of King Arthur and pop festivals. The fascinating wetland areas surrounding Bridgwater are internationally renowned for wintering wildfowl and wading birds and support numerous species of breeding birds. Nearby Shapwick Heath is an excellent example of a wetland nature reserve well worth a visit, as is the Steart Marshes on the Bridgwater Bay National Nature Reserve comprising of 2564 hectares of bird and wildlife havens.
