The delicious flap jack helped ! Our only two observations would be the lounge seating was great for two but for four adults it would be it a bit cramped, and some darker better fitting curtains in the bedroom would have let less light in early in the morning. But we would highly recommend the cottage, it was very peaceful, and easy to get around from. Thankyou Nicky & Andrew

Had everything we needed. We did notice that 2 of the lights in the lounge were not working. The door to the downstairs wet room was very stiff and needed a strong push/pull to open or close. The upstairs bathroom and the door to the double room also needed a bit of attention to shut properly. Otherwise everything was spot on. A clock in the kitchen would be a useful addition.

Beautifully furnished and cleaned to perfection and well-stocked with everything we needed - even with tea and coffee and a very welcome lemon drizzle cake. We loved the woollen throws/blankets made from the farm's own sheeps' wool and the opportunity to use the woodburner stove. Handy access to the main road to Honiton and Exeter, though the local lanes are the usual narrow Devon ones. Easy drive to Sidmouth. We had a lovely break.

Our only complaint which previous visitors had commented on was the wet room, it needs a small amount of modifications ie glass walk in enclosure to stop the shower water going everywhere which would make the room more comfortable and possibly the drain needs a little more slope to eliminate so much water on the floor. Jayne was very helpful as nothing was too much trouble and she had a very nice personality

  • "Lovely location, lovely owners and overall the Cottage was fabulous."

For me the only things that need addressing are the TV remote which was impossible to use due to the back missing so the batteries were taped in. The wet room...very awkward as everything got soaked and there is no need for this.... perhaps a shower curtain rail fixed to the ceiling to enclose the shower and stop the whole room from being soaked if this is not necessary and then a disabled person would still be able to use the room as required..... Or mixer taps on the bath upstairs with a shower attachment so you can wash your hair in the bathroom. These are important things for me when staying away.

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased you found Whitcombe Cottage to be a lovely location. We can confirm that the TV remote has been replaced with a universal remote which is in the property. We are sorry to hear that you had an issue with the wet room, but as a wet room, it is totally waterproofed with a shower area at the same level as the rest of the floor, as this is standard for a wet room. We hope to invite you back again for another fabulous stay. Property Owner

The hosts are on hand and very friendly, with a nothing is too much trouble attitude. The logs burner made it very cosy on blustery days. Having two dogs, staying on a farm was a great bonus as often we’ve found, whilst holidaying in Devon, you are restricted to walking on the lanes and jumping into the hedge if a tractor comes along! Here, there are acres of land you are free to walk in (responsibly) with your dogs. Also great for two energetic boys! Honiton town is very close by and there are lots of great places within a short drive to visit. Not that we needed it, but excellent facilities for people with limited mobility.

  • "Please pass on to the owners that we would have appreciated a welcome handbook."

We struggled to understand how the cooker worked and this caused frustrations. We did contact the owner in the end. Also there needs to be instructions on how to use the chair lift. We were lucky and did not need to use it but again this would have been useful to other guests. The single beds need to be changed to bigger singles. And the one by the small window needs to be replaced as it was wooden and creaked with every slight turn or movement. There are needs to be a shower upstairs above the bath. Four people using one shower which was downstairs is not sufficient. The downstairs shower is a wet room which does not drain very well, hence when you want to use the toilet after someone has used the shower your clothes (when wearing towers) get wet!. The overhead shower head needs to be changed to a round one. we even had to clean all the animal hair off the cushions before we could sit down and clean the outside furniture of green algi before we could sit down. Just small things that would really have made a difference.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. The owners are on site and encourage guests to contact them should there be any issues during the stay. They would have been pleased to assist on this occasion too! There are instruction manuals for appliances in the kitchen drawer. If guests would like to use the stair lift they are advised to contact the owner as this is better demonstrated in person. The wet room does drain and a floor squeegee is provided to help with this process if required. The upstairs bathroom wouldn't be suitable to accommodate a shower, so the separate wet room offers this option for those that prefer a shower. The single beds are quality sturdy, handmade wooden beds which are built to a standard single size. The outside garden furniture is a green metal design and cushions are available for guests to use. The cleaners do their best to ensure that pet hair is removed on each changeover. The owners would have welcomed the opportunity to address any of your concerns at the time. Property Owner

  • "The farm use a biomass boiler and as they both work they can only prime it 2 a day so if you come home early there may not be a lot of heat in property only what is retained in the building."

This is fine but maybe logs and kindling should be outside the front door on a daily basis so that clients can light the wood burner and not be chilly. It was quite dusty where you wouldn’t clean everyday and if you were asthmatic etc it cld cause an issue. I understand that it is rural living but having enough lights to shave and put makeup on were lacking. We did have a lovely time and it was nice to chill away from work and busy life. And one last thing there was no WiFi which meant we spent money on data from our provider bit annoying. I understand that the owners are trying to sort it as I write this. These are smallish things and in no way spoilt our break but need to be said so that improvements can be made J Adlam

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are sorry some minor issues occurred during your stay but are grateful for you bringing them to the owners attention, giving them the opportunity to address them swiftly. Logs can be requested on arrival if wanted, as noted in the key collection details, but with winter approaching, perhaps some could be left available. It was regrettable BT were not able to fix the Wi-Fi before the end of your stay and the owners are currently having fibre optic installed to improve service going forward. Despite these things, we are glad you enjoyed your holiday and would love to welcome you back. Property Owner

Honiton is a delightful market town in East Devon, with plenty to offer visitors. It lies in the valley of the River Otter and is surrounded by rolling Devon hills, green wooded valleys and plenty of scattered farming villages. Honiton has an attractive High Street stretching almost 2 miles, and lined with individually owned shops, pubs and restaurants. Honiton has been famous for lacemaking since the reign of Elizabeth I and still has a few lacemakers in work today - visitors can see some fine examples of antique lace in the town’s Allhallows Museum. Honiton boasts the only public art gallery in East Devon; the Thelma Hulbert Gallery occupies an attractive Grade I listed Victorian house, and has links with the Hayward Gallery, London. Honiton is only a short drive from the dramatic 20 mile stretch of Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site. Resorts such as Seaton, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth are found along this stretch of coastline, and all have much to occupy the visitor. Near to Honiton is the cathedral city of Exeter with plenty of large shops, a wealth of museums, a theatre and fabulous restaurants.
