  • "Nice cottage."

Bed was comfy. Lots of hot water but low pressure. The cottage had everything you needed except a microwave. Wardrobe doors in the main bedroom need attention as they do not slide well. We had to leave them open as they jammed otherwise. Lots of information provided. We enjoyed our week. The Old Malt Scoop pub was great, very welcoming and good food.

Hi There, we're glad you enjoyed a comfortable stay at Westgate Cottage. We previously removed the microwave due to lack of use, but have listened to your feedback and replaced the microwave for the convenience of guests as part of the well-equipped kitchen. Regarding your comment on water pressure, our investigation found that the change in water flow to the shower was due to a nozzle on the shower head being dislodged, and the shower is back to full functionality. We do urge guests to contact us regarding any issue during your stay and if this had been brought to our attention it could have been easily rectified for you. There haven’t been any previous issues with the wardrobe sliding doors and one of them appeared to have been moved from the sliding rail. Guests are encouraged to let us know about any breakages/damage or issues with functionality directly, using the contact details provided, so that this can be rectified as soon as possible for minimum disruption during your stay. We are sorry if this was an issue we were not informed about, perhaps from a previous booking. The doors are fully functioning and we will remind our staff to check them during the changeover. We are fortunate to have a welcoming pub very local to the cottage which has been enjoyed by many of our guests. We also provide information about some great options further afield prior to your stay. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Westgate cottage."

It was very homely. A few things could be improved. The single Quilt was too short so my feet were cold, The shower was very weak and the kitchen arrangement was a bit awkward. However the cottage was beautiful, good to have the parking space by the cottage and we enjoyed our stay.

Hi, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and liked the character that Westgate Cottage has to offer throughout the property. We are sorry that the single duvet in the twin room was not convenient, the twin beds have standard sized single duvets which fit a single bed and cover the end of the bed. Each single bed has a cosy throw and all bed linens are provided along with extra blankets for all beds for the comfort of guests. Regarding your comment about the shower, investigation found that the change in water flow was due to a nozzle on the shower head being dislodged. We do urge guests to contact us regarding any issue during your stay and if this had been brought to our attention it could have been easily rectified for you. The shower is back to full functionality. We provide a full range of equipment and facilities for ease of preparing meals at the cottage in the sociable open-plan kitchen and we are sorry you found this awkward. We have created a homely feel in the cottage with furnishings and fittings and are pleased you felt at home during your stay. Property Owner

We’re pleased you enjoyed spending time in our character cottage. Yes, there are excellent road links which makes exploring the area easy and accessible, from beaches to moors and countryside. We always contact our guests prior to their arrival and provide local information to help you settle in, relax and plan how to spend your time in beautiful Devon. Property Owner

  • "A cottage full of character in a very quiet location."

Situated close to a village pub that is very welcoming and provides good food. If I was in stay in this part of Devon again I would undoubtedly return. The only quibble I have is with the shower which because of my height I found difficult to use properly. The welcoming booklet is very informative and recommends very pleasent excursions. Overall a great stay.

Thank you for your feedback, yes, the cottage is situated in a thriving mid Devon village with a great pub for dining. We provide information about the local areas to help you settle in and make the most of your stay. We have worked within the available height in the newly upgraded bathroom, a great addition to the cottage. Property Owner

  • "Super little cottage, in a good location, especially if you like to get around by train"

Thank you very much for your feedback, we are so glad that you enjoyed the cottage. Lapford is very well connected with it's own train station, and bus service to Exeter. For those exploring this lovely part of Devon by car, there are great road links to the surrounding areas, for example, the A377 connecting Barnstaple with Exeter is within very easy reach. • "The only thing that lets the property down is not having a proper shower."

There is only a mixer tap hand held shower on the Bath. Water pressure is fine but it’s awkward to use and with no screen or curtain, the water goes everywhere.

The property currently does not have a designated shower cubicle as per the listing, and has a bath and hand held shower attachment. There is no shower curtain currently as the shower is not designed to be fixed to the wall. The bathroom is spacious and functional, and we have plans to upgrade at a time when there are no bookings, awaiting builder availability Property Owner
