"Quaint cottage in beautiful quiet village."
Good Points - kitchen extremely well stocked with cutlery/utensils/pots/pans/plates etc, Overall cleanliness standard high, central heating worked well, plenty of hot water, comfy bed, modern looking bathroom, double oven worked well.
Bad points - Wardrobe in main bedroom difficult to open, left open for the week in fear it would not open again, blankets on sofas were covered in dog hair and not washed, shower pressure EXTREMELY bad, bathroom ceiling not high enough for flat overhead attachment, which made it difficult to use other attachment. All the windows are locked down and difficult to open.
We are so pleased that you enjoyed numerous features of the cottage and noticed that we have extremely high cleanliness standards at Westgate Cottage. We always ask that guests contact us without delay if there are any maintenance issues, so that we can do everything we can to rectify this as quickly as possible during your stay. If we are told about an issue after your stay this means we would be unable to provide help to you during your holiday, so please do ask. On this occasion, we were therefore only able to call out our maintenance manager after your stay in order to sort out such issues. We would like to reassure any potential guests there are NO issues with water pressure. The bathroom has undergone a top to toe refurbishment, with a smart new double vanity sink unit, tiling throughout, a new velux window and a double-headed shower. The large rain shower head was found to have had one of the silicone nozzles pressed inside the shower head itself, creating a hole for water to escape through rather than being distributed throughout the shower head. If the shower head is tampered with in this way this will affect water flow as described and is not to do with water pressure. Our maintenance manager re-positioned the nozzle, which had been pressed inside, leaving the shower head in full working order ready for subsequent guests to enjoy. The sliding wardrobe door was found to have been taken off it’s track, appearing to have been forced, or obstructed in some way, and was easily replaced back on it’s track. We are proud to welcome dogs to Westgate Cottage however guests are told that dogs are not allowed on furniture or beds, this includes all cushions and throws on the furniture. It is disappointing that this has not happened during a recent booking. We provide a comfy dog cushion for dogs to relax on, the throws are not to be used for dogs. Windows are locked for reasons of security, and window keys are provided and clearly labelled for the convenience of guests for ease of opening. The locks are simply screwed backward or forwards, to lock or unlock the windows. We pride ourselves on taking time and care in the upkeep and maintenance of Westgate Cottage to give guests the best holiday experience possible. As with any property, there are sometimes issues, and if we know about them, we aim to sort them out quickly with minimum disruption for our guests.

"Nice cottage."
Bed was comfy. Lots of hot water but low pressure. The cottage had everything you needed except a microwave. Wardrobe doors in the main bedroom need attention as they do not slide well. We had to leave them open as they jammed otherwise. Lots of information provided. We enjoyed our week. The Old Malt Scoop pub was great, very welcoming and good food.
Hi There, we're glad you enjoyed a comfortable stay at Westgate Cottage.
We previously removed the microwave due to lack of use, but have listened to your feedback and replaced the microwave for the convenience of guests as part of the well-equipped kitchen. Regarding your comment on water pressure, our investigation found that the change in water flow to the shower was due to a nozzle on the shower head being dislodged, and the shower is back to full functionality. We do urge guests to contact us regarding any issue during your stay and if this had been brought to our attention it could have been easily rectified for you. There haven’t been any previous issues with the wardrobe sliding doors and one of them appeared to have been moved from the sliding rail. Guests are encouraged to let us know about any breakages/damage or issues with functionality directly, using the contact details provided, so that this can be rectified as soon as possible for minimum disruption during your stay. We are sorry if this was an issue we were not informed about, perhaps from a previous booking. The doors are fully functioning and we will remind our staff to check them during the changeover. We are fortunate to have a welcoming pub very local to the cottage which has been enjoyed by many of our guests. We also provide information about some great options further afield prior to your stay. We hope to welcome you back in the future.

"We enjoyed our stay at Westgate cottage."
It was very homely. A few things could be improved. The single Quilt was too short so my feet were cold, The shower was very weak and the kitchen arrangement was a bit awkward. However the cottage was beautiful, good to have the parking space by the cottage and we enjoyed our stay.
Hi, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and liked the character that Westgate Cottage has to offer throughout the property. We are sorry that the single duvet in the twin room was not convenient, the twin beds have standard sized single duvets which fit a single bed and cover the end of the bed. Each single bed has a cosy throw and all bed linens are provided along with extra blankets for all beds for the comfort of guests. Regarding your comment about the shower, investigation found that the change in water flow was due to a nozzle on the shower head being dislodged. We do urge guests to contact us regarding any issue during your stay and if this had been brought to our attention it could have been easily rectified for you. The shower is back to full functionality. We provide a full range of equipment and facilities for ease of preparing meals at the cottage in the sociable open-plan kitchen and we are sorry you found this awkward. We have created a homely feel in the cottage with furnishings and fittings and are pleased you felt at home during your stay.

"A cottage full of character in a very quiet location."
Situated close to a village pub that is very welcoming and provides good food. If I was in stay in this part of Devon again I would undoubtedly return. The only quibble I have is with the shower which because of my height I found difficult to use properly. The welcoming booklet is very informative and recommends very pleasent excursions. Overall a great stay.
Thank you for your feedback, yes, the cottage is situated in a thriving mid Devon village with a great pub for dining. We provide information about the local areas to help you settle in and make the most of your stay. We have worked within the available height in the newly upgraded bathroom, a great addition to the cottage.

"Super little cottage, in a good location, especially if you like to get around by train"
Thank you very much for your feedback, we are so glad that you enjoyed the cottage. Lapford is very well connected with it's own train station, and bus service to Exeter. For those exploring this lovely part of Devon by car, there are great road links to the surrounding areas, for example, the A377 connecting Barnstaple with Exeter is within very easy reach.

"The only thing that lets the property down is not having a proper shower."
There is only a mixer tap hand held shower on the Bath. Water pressure is fine but it’s awkward to use and with no screen or curtain, the water goes everywhere.
The property currently does not have a designated shower cubicle as per the listing, and has a bath and hand held shower attachment. There is no shower curtain currently as the shower is not designed to be fixed to the wall. The bathroom is spacious and functional, and we have plans to upgrade at a time when there are no bookings, awaiting builder availability
