  • "Watermead Lodge is situated in an idyllic location in the heart of the Somerset countryside."

George and Ash had the foresight to create the Lodge preserving the quality of the location in which it is set. If you appreciate totally dark nights under the stars and daylight bringing a pair of magnificent horses next to the garden, a chance to see stags rutting and the steam engine steaming away 100 metres from the Lodge, then you will have found perfection. Inside the Lodge you will find everything necessary for the perfect break. Fantastic holiday in a splendid place. Thank you. John

  • "My family and I had the most wonderful stay at Watermead Lodge!"

The lodge itself was absolutely beautiful, set in a peaceful and serene location that allowed us to truly relax and unwind. One of the highlights was watching the charming steam trains from the West Somerset Railway pass by the garden – it was like stepping back in time and added such a unique touch to our stay. Our dog loved the vast garden to run around. In terms of getting around, things were really easy, and if you like walking, then this is the place for you. George and Ash, our hosts, went above and beyond to make sure our experience was perfect. We had a welcome pack to greet us, which was great, but overall nothing was too much trouble for them, and their attention to detail made us feel truly welcome. Watermead Lodge is undoubtedly a 10 out of 10 when it comes to location and setting. We can't wait to come back and stay again!

Well what can we say, thank you so much for such glowing feedback!!! It was brilliant to meet you and we are so pleased that you were able to unwind and enjoy our peaceful garden. We look forward to welcoming you back and I will try not to forget the steps next time!!!!! Property Owner

Ash and George have made an amazing lodge which is set in the most tranquil setting. The goodies left for us and our doggie were most welcome after a long trip down. The steam train that goes past is a bonus and much fun had with the dog trying to chase it. The area is quaint and the Rocking Horse cafe is a must visit for views and food. The local shop is well stocked and friendly staff. This is a must and we didn’t want to leave which shows what a good time we had. Thank you to you both and we will be back xx

Hidden within the Somerset lanes with easy access to the coast and countryside, I spent my days walking and exploring. Dunster is a delightful village and the beach was great for me and the dog. If you are a steam train buff the line runs right by the property - unfortunately there were no trains running in January. The fenced garden was perfect for my dog and it would be perfect in the summer for star gazing. The owners were really helpful, a great goodie pack on arrival and checking that I was OK during storm Isha. They live on site, are available to help but leave you to your own devices. I hope to return when the steam trains are running to enjoy the garden, sunsets, walking the lanes and visiting the coast. If only we could control the weather!

Thank you for leaving such helpful feedback for people to read. It was a shame the weather was not playing ball for your stay!!!! We look forward to seeing you again and meeting your next hearing dog in training, and for the sun to shine on your next stay with us. Property Owner

The hosts were so welcoming and we arrived to scones, Prosecco, dog biscuits and other essentials, which were a lovely touch. The lodge is finished to a really high standard and built by Ash himself; we loved hearing about how he had built it. They have thought of everything that you need there, including a fully enclosed fence around the area which was perfect for our dog. Our dog particularly enjoyed making friends with the sheep through the fence. Really comfortable beds and we made lots of use of the large dining table for a board games night. We didn’t get much chance to explore the immediate area, but it was handy to have a short commute to Minehead and Taunton. We will definitely be back and strongly recommend.
