"Property is in a good location for several different tourist spots."
-
"Another enjoyable stay at Willow Barn."
Many thanks to Andrew and Helen for being so welcoming. Highly recommended and a lovely location to explore the delights of Somerset in peaceful surroundings.
-
"Superb accommodation with a fabulous walk in shower."
The kitchen well equipped and modern. Everything was spotlessly clean. Bi-fold doors opened onto a lovely patio with table and chairs and a lawned area beyond. It had a very useful carport right next to the front door so if it was raining you didn't get wet walking to and from your car especially on arrival and departure! We never needed to use the underfloor heating or log burner as the weather was warm but I can imagine it would make it even cosier in the winter. Owners were very helpful and suggested local places to eat for an Anniversary meal.
-
"The accommodation was of an exceptionally high standard and the owners were very friendly and helpful."
We enjoyed visiting the peaceful Avalon marshes area and seeing all the wildlife. Many thanks to Helen and Andrew for a wonderful holiday.
-
"We had a lovely stay at Willow Barn and would recommend."
Ideally placed for nature reserve walks and a short drive to Glastonbury.
-
"The cottage exceeds its description and is exceptionally well appointed and maintained with modern touches throughout."
Our contact / owner was super helpful and provided plenty of local places to visit and or try out.
-
"Andrew and Helen were hospitable, friendly hosts and made us very welcome from the start."
The Barn was immaculate in every way with local stone floors and walls and wood interior showing tremendous care and attention to detail. We would highly recommend Willow Barn. For us, it was ideally suited for its position on the edge of the Avalon marshes and it's wildlife but is also well placed to explore that part of Somerset including Glastonbury, Wells and Somerton.
-
"We count ourselves very fortunate to have found that Willow cottage was free for our last minute booking."
Our hosts made us very welcome and we were able to relax in what turned out to be a glorious warm week. We found so many interesting places closeby and recommend anyone birdwatching the this is the place to stay.
-
"We enjoyed our stay at Willow Barn, shame that there was no freezer, even a small one."
We had no problems throughout our stay, but Andrew was on hand should we have needed him.
-
"Fabulous property at the end of a pretty village."
It is central for exploring this lovely area with an abundance of nature reserves locally. We were greeted by Andrew the friendly owner who showed us around and gave advice. A nice touch was the lovely Christmas tree.
-
"The property was excellent, very well laid out with all the facilities required."
You park under the arch, keeping your vehicle covered. Spoke to Andrew the owner who was very friendly indeed. It was ideally based next to nature reserve, close to Street, Glastonbury, Wells. We also visited Wedmore, Cheddar, Burnham on Sea and Bath.
-
"An excellent stay."
Immaculate well equipped property. Light, airy and very comfortable. A fabulous location.
-
"The holiday property was lovely, modern, fresh and comfortable."
The only thing we did miss was a freezer. Apart from that it was perfect and the owners of the property were fabulous, very friendly and helpful.
-
"The property was beautiful, immaculate and comfortable, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
The owners gave us great recommendations on places to visit in the area.
-
"Beautiful spacious modern cottage."
Loved the large bathroom with amazing waterfall shower. Only problem with young children is washing them without getting drenched! The cottage was very hot and humid during our stay so the tower fans were a godsend. Only things we missed were a coffee table in centre of room and an ice compartment in the fridge...we were unable to freeze our ice blocks for picnics or have ice in drinks! Hosts very welcoming. Situated in pretty village.
-

The owners are most helpful and friendly showing us how to work the cooker etc.when we arrived. The area is beautiful and our week was perfect. Thank you.

Thanks to Helen and Andrew we had the perfect week exploring the Somerset Levels.

"The Barn lived up to expectations if not exceeded them."
The owners were very helpful friendly but not intrusive. Lovely welcome pack of fresh milk tea coffee and biscuits. Would definitely stay here again in the future. The property had everything you would need , well appointed kitchen and bathroom with amazing walk in shower. One tiny thing but this is a personal preference is to have bath sheets as opposed to bath towels, otherwise everything perfect.
-
"Lovely area to stay."
The cottage is fantastic and the shower is amazing especially after the wet and windy walks. Close to Clark’s village shopping and other amenities. Thanks for a great holiday
-
"A well appointed and comfortable cottage with attentive and friendly owners."
We had a lovely four night stay and enjoyed the comfy bed, incredible shower (one of the best we’ve experienced in a holiday cottage), the huge sofa in the living room and large log burner. The kitchen is very high spec and well equipped too. With a solid and reliable WiFi, a large smart tv with Netflix, and the underfloor heating, this cottage provides all you need for a splendid break.

"We had a lovely week in Willow Barn over the New Year period."
The cottage was absolutely spotless, with furnishings and fixtures & fittings of a very high standard. We felt completely at home and relaxed straightaway. Andrew, the owner couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. He went out of his way to ensure that everything was done to make our stay comfortable. The cottage is in a great spot to explore Somerset and the surrounding nature reserves. Thanks again, Andrew for a great stay.

"Exceptionally clean, efficient underfloor heating and fantastic log burner."
Just a shame there is no separate freezer or even a freezer compartment in the fridge. Hosts live next door and were very friendly and welcoming. Very quick to respond to our messages.

About the location
SHAPWICK
Glastonbury 6 miles; Street 4 miles.
The pretty, little Somerset village of Shapwick can be found on the Somerset Levels, an Area of Special Scientific Interest, a low-lying marshy area which stretches from the Mendip Hills as far as Taunton, crossed by numerous drainage channels called rhynes, where willows are grown for basket making, and a bird-watchers paradise. The village became famous in 1998 for the discovery of the largest hoard of Roman silver ever found in the United Kingdom. Shapwick provides a great touring base, as the town of Street, famous for the Clarks Shopping Village, and the historic town of Glastonbury, well known for its Abbey, Tor, and Festival, are both only a short drive. Just a little further afield can be found Wells Cathedral as well as the beaches at Burnham-on-Sea and Weston Super Mare, with Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge both easily accessible. This really is an ideal location for an interesting holiday at any time of the year.
Note: Logs are provided for the log burning stove, though they can be purchased from the Owner directly.
