  • "Was a lovely period cottage."

Amazing restaurant a mile up the road with a number of places within 20 miles to visit All messaged to us by Jayne as recommended places near by. Parking is restricted but we made it work with our bigger car.

  • "Jayne couldn't do enough to make us feel comfortable."

She send us loads great ideas on where to go and places to eat. The cottage was very very clean and comfortable. The only downside was the parking and the cottage was on a sharp bend and no garden to let the dog out. Apart from that it was beautiful

  • "Gerlan is a beautiful grade II listed building with all of the amenities you need for a relaxing stay in a lovely, quiet place."

You are not far for the beaches, walks, sights and towns that have everything you need. The cottage was well furnished, nicely laid out and the additional deck was perfect for BBQs and eating outside. The road and parking looked off-putting but the road itself was never busy and the parking, as stated was not a concern for smaller cars. I highly recommend the cottage for couples who just want to get away! Many thanks to Janey for all of the help.

  • "I booked online and the owner hadn't been informed we were coming."

However she very kindly finished work early to get the property ready for us. Anyway this cottage was beautiful, really relaxing, so cosy with wood burner and had lots of character. Well looked after and had everything you need. The owner is lovely, she made sure we were settled in and had everything we needed and made sure we could work TV etc. She gave us her number in case we needed anything. Will definitely stay again. Only problem was I would've liked to stay for longer this time!

  • "Lovely, peaceful stay in this quaint tiny cottage."

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Gerlan and the owner showed us where everything was and answered any questions after we arrived on the first night. Fully equipped cottage and our little dog loved it too.

  • "Very comfortable traditional stone Welsh cottage in a lovely setting."

The separate garden area was a favourite for sitting with either coffee or wine at any time even if raining. Jayne was very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. If you're looking for a peaceful, comfortable and cosy cottage in a rural setting this cottage this cottage fits the bill. I loved it and will return.

  • "We booked a last minute stay at Gerlan cottage for 4 nights over the New Year period."

The owner Jayne was very friendly, made us feel welcome and gave us all the information we needed. The cottage itself was very homely, with a big open fire which kept us and our dog Giant toasty. Everything was as advertised and we didn’t need to bring anything extra. The kitchen amenities were great and towels were provided. The cottage is obviously an old property which comes with the creeks and things you’d expect, but that’s part of the charm. The place was clean and fresh and we were very comfortable during our stay there. Despite the cottage being on a main road, we didn’t hear the traffic and it wasn’t that busy. You just have to be a bit careful pulling off and going into the parking space, but we didn’t have any trouble with it. The little shop up the road is wonderful and the daffodil pub was friendly and has a great menu and drinks selection. We did find we had to drive out a little for a good country walk, but not far. I imagine in the warmer months the little garden veranda that overlooks the river (separate to the house … like a lot of west wales cottages) is a nice spot to have a bbq. We had a lovely getaway. If you want a cute little cottage with good access to the spots in West Wales then Gerlan is a great choice. Oh and the dvd collection has some great films In it too :) For the price, location, property and hosts kindness we would definitely stay again.

  • "It was very quaint and the single bed is only really suitable for a small child and not a teenager."

Quite disappointed that the week following our stay was a lot less than what we paid for our stay. Not even the basics that we’ve found in many other properties, such as salt, pepper etc

  • "Parking outside the cottage was not easy…and a little dangerous."

The outside garden area was lovely. The cottage was ideal for two.

  • "Lovely quirky cottage in picturesque countryside."

All we needed for a comfortable stay. Owner was very helpful when we couldn’t get the tv to work.

  • "Had to remove cobwebs in most rooms."

Cleaned front room windows inside and out, they had not been cleaned for months. My husband repaired the kitchen doors because they were loose and would not close properly. Drawers in bedroom dirty inside, I didn't put any clothes in them. The whole place needs better lighting and the amount of wires and extension leads were really unsightly. I knew the cottage was on a dangerous bend but did not understand why the outside facility to walk dog, hang clothes and supposedly relax was not not explained more clearly. It is a dangerous outside area and filthy!! For the amount of money we paid it was really dissapointing.

  • "This is a nice old building with associated quirks that come with this - eg sloping roof in the bedroom, we quickly got used to that!"

Appreciated the velux windows in the double bedroom & stairwell, kept a good flow of air even when wet. Comfy beds, quiet at night = good sleep. Enjoyed wood burner on couple of cooler evenings. Some small things that would make it even better eg oven gloves, a small mirror in bedroom (need to take your own hairdryer which is fine as long as you know), avoid having sharp knives in cutlery tray as it is in a less well lit unit & there is a knife block with 3 decent knives by the window. As a previous review notes, cottage is on a sharp bend & definitely the easiest & safest way to park is to approach uphill from the Newcastle Emlyn direction. We have enjoyed our stay at Gerlan & it is in a lovely part of Wales.

  • "Cottage was on a bad corner, no walkways and speeding cars."

Outside area was not attached to the cottage. Spiderweb's and dust everywhere. Bathroom smelt damp. All the cupboards in the kitchen were broken or hanging off their hinges. Washing machine was rusty and smelt really bad, no curtains up in either bedroom windows so my children were awake at the crack of dawn, no openable window in the tiny box room while a heatwave was going on. The lost goes on
