  • "Very nice property, enjoyed our stay."

We would have found a potato masher helpful, not everybody eats chips or takeouts.

  • "Great location especially for dog."

Could roam all over vineyard on side of mountain. Cottage small but well appointed. I would visit again.

  • "Great place to stay."

In the middle of nature, nothing but the sound of birds and the little river in front of the cottage. But town is close… and it is a little nice town. You can make great walks in the surroundings of the cottage. We went up to sugar loaf mountain. The most beautiful views on the top.

  • "We had three weeks at Vine Cottage, it was comfortable."

But there was Radiator but not switch on. The few days where it was very cold even it was end of June and July. Their had heater there which was warm so we used that. Also not having a freezer we went out shopping each day. So i think it would help holiday people having freezer. We had very good respect too the owner has she was very friendly and pleasant person. And did enjoy our relaxing holiday Thank you

  • "Grounds were lovely but we were not aware of the electric gates, had to phone owner to know how to get in/out."

The bed is extremely high for short people which made it difficult to get on. But it was comfortable and good quality linen. I found the bedroom noisy with the gushing brook it was like listening to a downpour all night, hubby couldn't hear it so I ended up on the slightly uncomfortable couch most nights. We had heating and hot water at the weekend whilst shop was open, but the rest of the week there was no hot water despite running it for 10mins and so had to boil the kettle to wash up everytime. The couple ajoining were outside at the tables arguing and drinking, kept us awake till gone midnight. We didn't have a comfortable stay like other reviewers claim and so left a night early.

A beautiful location , what a shame that the cottage only has very small windows which made it feel a bit claustrophobic if there was a big window in the lounge (maybe planning won't allow it) that would improve it a lot but overall we were satisfied and very happy with our stay at vine cottage , thankyou

  • "Firstly, the location of this cottage is absolutely stunning."

The views are spectacular, it’s beautifully peaceful, and is very handily located near to Abergavenny. In my opinion, the description of the cottage slightly oversells it. It isn’t spectacular, the furniture isn’t plush and the bedroom isn’t sumptuous. Similar comments, as noted in other reviews, and notably the cobwebs (and yes, September is spider season, but cobwebs which are dusty are not new - they’ve been there a while), the grout in the shower cubicle needs to be cleaned properly, there was no mat to step onto when you get out of the shower and only a bath towel provided (no hand towel). Unfortunately for me, I arrived when it was very rainy which meant I was unable to go out and explore and while I was able to pop into Abergavenny for a bit, the rest of the time I was in the cottage just noticing things. I genuinely think this cottage could be as described, because as I said, the location is wonderful. For me, it needs a good refresh.

  • "We had a few spiders + webs living with us but otherwise it was clean."

The crockery needed a wash before use. The furnishings were comfortable & obviously not brand new were far from worn out. The one item that "may" need attention was the microwave as it seemed to me some of the control buttons were not working correctly but I may be wrong on that. The only other point that disappointed us was having to strip the bed; leaving the place tidy with towels out for washing + the washing up done was fair enough

  • "Small defects need to be repaired, grout in the bathroom, window catches."

Dust and cobwebs everywhere. Very nice comfortable cottage, good place to stay to explore surrounding areas. Great restaurant on site with good local wines.

Open your front door to a lovely cottage and a delicious bottle of sugar loaf wine that is set out just for you. Would highly recommend! It is within walking distance to many great hiking routes and the cottage was warm and lovely. May be returning soon. Thank you sugar loaf cottages :) !

  • "This is the second time we have stayed in Vine cottage."

For a base it is totally adequate and the setting is really beautiful. The cottage is small and a bit tired. Could really do with some upgrading as interior tired and worn. Fridge but no freezer. Restaurant next door is nice. Staff very friendly. All dog friendly which is excellent.

  • "We loved the quietness and location with great views."

The cottage layout was ok. The kitchen was missing a few basic utensils and a little extra cookware & dish for use in the microwave would have been useful. It’s an ideal place to tour around the Brecon Beacons and surrounding area.
