  • "The property was beautiful but lacked a little in the cleanliness."

  • "Sea Rose is a pretty little cottage near the seaside resort of Aberporth."

We initially had a problem about getting hot water but after several messages to the owner this was resolved by using the booster switch in the airing cupboard. The cottage was attractively furnished and well equipped, and situated in the grounds of a large hotel. We had a very pleasant little garden for sitting outside. The cottage was a short drive down to the lovely beach and the friendly pub. We enjoyed our stay here.

  • "We booked Sea Rose for 3 nights with our baby as a weekend away, but sadly we arrived at the property to find the heating off so it was freezing cold and took a while to warm up."

The kitchen was dirty with unwashed coffee cups, an old dirty kettle and dirty oven. Unfortunately, the property wasn’t overly clean anywhere else and when we pulled out the highchair to use it too needed a good clean. The lack of any welcome pack made using the appliances difficult and we couldn’t access the wifi, although it barely ran the tv so probably wouldn’t have managed our phones as well. The bathroom door didn’t close which didn’t matter to us but should probably be fixed. The saving grace was the location, just 5 minutes outside of Aberporth, which had a gorgeous beach, great fish and chips, and a lovely pub! We won’t be booking this cottage again sadly and actually ended up leaving after 2 nights.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience at Sea Rose. We understand how important a comfortable and clean environment is, especially when traveling with a baby, and we sincerely apologise for the issues you faced. We have addressed the heating situation to ensure that it is set to a comfortable temperature prior to guest arrivals. I’m also sorry to hear about the cleanliness concerns in the kitchen and the highchair. We are reinforcing our cleaning protocols to ensure that every corner of the property meets our standards. Regarding the welcome pack, we recognise its importance in making your stay more enjoyable and will be providing clear instructions for all appliances moving forward. We are also looking into the Wi-Fi issues to enhance connectivity for our guests. Lastly, the bathroom door will be fixed promptly. We appreciate your feedback on these matters as it helps us improve for future guests. Thank you for highlighting the lovely location and nearby attractions. We hope you might reconsider staying with us in the future, as we’re committed to making the necessary improvements. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage."

Location not the best as its a fairly busy road with no pavement to walk into Aberporth and fairly steep coming back . We could have done with more info on working the Tv and what packages extra channels were available as we were unsure . Floor and some surfaces could do with more cleaning but as it was the end of the season that probably accounts for it . Towels , bedding all lovely quality and well decorated and finishing touches were lovely .Lovely welshcakes and fresh milk were appreciated .

Thank you for your feedback! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the cottage, particularly the quality of the towels, bedding, and those lovely finishing touches. We’re glad you appreciated the Welsh cakes and fresh milk as well. We apologise for the discomfort you experienced regarding the location, however, all previous guests did not find it being an issue. Regarding the TV setup, we will also provide clearer instructions for operating the TV in the 'Welcome Pack' to enhance our guests' experience. We are sorry to hear that you found some cleanliness issues. We have raised this with the cleaner directly to make sure the property is cleaned to its highest standards. Thank you once again for your valuable insights. We hope to welcome you back for a more enjoyable stay in the future!' Property Owner

  • "This small house is pleasant, reasonably well furnished and best of all, in a quiet country location; a bit of a ghost village actually, and a mile inland from the sea in Aberporth."

It lies in the grounds of an expensive hotel where drinks at the bar might require a mortgage ! Unfortunately, when we arrived, a wheelie bin at the front door was overflowing with 6 or 7 weeks of rubbish stinking like a garbage dump. We complained and it was emptied 5 days later. Arriving after a 3 hour 30 minute drive to the property, we needed the loo. There was no toilet paper or kitchen roll provided. We complained and were directed to a shop which was a drive of 7 miles return. We had to buy our own loo paper and even our own salt and pepper. There were none of the normal ‘hospitality’ items - a few tea bags, coffee sachets, milk or anything else. Better introductory hospitality would only cost a pound or two. On day 1 the bathroom door jammed & could not be opened. The door lever/latch was not working. We spent 5 minutes crashing into the door to open it. Finally it gave way without damage. Since we could also have been locked into the bathroom, we stuffed a toothpick into the latch to keep it open until it is repaired. The availability of an adequate wifi signal was sporadic and slow. We could not use the catch-up TV and during the whole week I could only open my emails on my mobile phone. When it is working the internet speed is 29 Mbps. The property was devoid of instructions on e.g. the television or heating system, or when the rubbish is collected. There were no recommendations on local walks, shops or restaurants etc. (Tesco/Aldi in Cardigan). We like to keep a holiday let very clean, but there were no cleaning materials supplied. The good news is that following previous poor reviews the double bed mattress (firm) and the microwave have been replaced. Unfortunately when I removed the instructions from inside this new microwave in order to use it, they slipped down between the side of the fridge and the worktop. This does not prevent the microwave being used. Since the freezer compartment needs defrosting, when the fridge is turned off to do this, they can be retrieved. (Incidentally, when I logged in to the Sykes website, this property was not registered on my account, although 7 or 8 previous ones are still there).

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the peaceful location and found new mattress and microwave being a good addition. However, we sincerely apologise for the discomfort and inconveniences you faced during your stay. We have addressed the issue with the overflowing wheelie bin and have taken steps to ensure that it is emptied regularly in the future. We also understand the importance of having basic supplies like toilet paper and kitchen essentials, and we have now revised this to make sure we offer a good hospitality. I’m sorry to hear about the bathroom door and the Wi-Fi issues. We’ve since repaired the door and are looking into enhancing the internet service to ensure better connectivity. We will also provide clearer instructions for the television, heating system, and local services in the cottage moving forward. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. We value your insights and are committed to improving the experience for future guests. We hope to welcome you back for a much more enjoyable stay. Property Owner

  • "Lovely clean cottage."

We had problems with the water system for the whole week. We would get hot water in the morning but nothing in the afternoon. Owners got a plumber out on Thursday 2 day before coming home they said nothing was wrong he changed the timer then we only got water in the afternoon hence we had several days of cold showers. Really not practical with a nine year old. Whole also love a folder with the history of the cottage and surrounding area.

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the cleanliness of the cottage, but we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by the water system during your stay. We understand how uncomfortable it can be, especially with a nine-year-old, and we appreciate your patience as we worked to resolve the issue. We have since addressed the plumbing concerns and made improvements to ensure a consistent hot water supply. Additionally, your suggestion for a folder with the cottage's history and surrounding area is a wonderful idea, and we’ll make sure to implement that for future guests. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to welcome you back for a more enjoyable experience. Property Owner

  • "Needs double bed mattress replacing one side of mattress is very flat and has no support."

Very uncomfortable. Microwave was very rusty so unable to use. Oven had not been cleaned and was also rusty in places. Did not use due to hygiene. Under the sink in the kitchen were dirty tea towels that where going mouldy. Also had to do some weeding and sweep patio area before use. The bench was rotting so therefore could not be used. During our stay someone did come and take the bench away.

Thank you for your feedback and bringing these issues to my attention. We have now replaced a mattress and a microwave for future guests to enjoy. We have also raised the cleanliness points with the cleaner and can reassure you this will be rectified for future guests. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a much-improved experience in the future. Property Owner

  • "Booked three nights for two people at short notice."

The property is nicely decorated, well equipped and well situated for exploring the coastline. We liked it. The double bed urgently needs a new mattress, so we slept in the two singles instead. The picnic bench on the patio has seen better days. It would be nice to change this to enable outdoor dining. Some updated instructions regarding rubbish disposal would also be helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the property’s decor and location! However, I sincerely apologise you found the mattress uncomfortable and the need to replace the bench. We now have a new comfortable mattress for future guests to enjoy. The bench has also been removed to ensure guests have more pleasant outdoor experience. I also appreciate your suggestion regarding the rubbish disposal instructions; we will make sure to add those in the welcome pack for clarity. Thank you for your insights, and I hope to welcome you back for an even better experience in the future. Property Owner

About the location

ABERPORTH

Tresaith 1 mile; Penbryn 3 miles; Llangrannog 5.5 miles; Cardigan 7 miles; Poppit Sands 8.5 miles; New Quay 15 miles.

Aberporth is a small town that sits on the southern edge of Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion, renowned for it's fabulous beaches that attract visitors, all year round. There are two beaches that sit between the rocky headlands of Trecregyn and Fathgarreg, separated by a smaller rocky outcrop. Uniquely, at low tide they interlink, but at high tide, they create individual beaches and create great rock pools for the children to play in and explore. Small boats, canoes, and kayaks can easily be launched from the north beach, while the south beach lends itself beautifully for a spot of sunbathing. Close to the beaches, there is a small seaside café, fish and chip shop, and a friendly pub serving good food and drinks. In the village itself, there is a range of shops and takeaway stores. Nestled directly on the famous Wales Coast Path, between the towns of Cardigan in the south, and Llangrannog and New Quay to the north, it is a great base for exploring this glorious stretch of coastline. Venture to Cardigan and discover the town’s many shops, tea rooms, restaurants, pubs, and bustling markets. Visit the nearby themed farm park, spot dolphins from the coastal path, or take a boat trip for the chance to see them up close! Aberporth is a great base for exploring this wonderful part of West Wales, with something to do for all the family.
