  • "The cottage was charming, a lovely blend of traditional with modern facilities."

Very clean and with all equipment you need for a self catering holiday. Very good communication with the host who left welcoming treats for us. We had a lovely time and will be back in the future as it's a lovely spot to explore the area. Thanks

  • "Absolutely wonderful stay."

This is by far the best equipped self catering property we have stayed in in recent years and everything worked well. Beds were really comfortable, wifi worked well. We enjoyed watching films, playing games they had and the hottub was lovely to relax in with a wonderful view. It wasn't clear when we booked but garden and hottub is very private and not overlooked. Minor issues were dealt with quickly. Had wonderful cake and prosecco when we arrived and some lovely cake on night before departure was a lovely touch and it was also really refreshing to have washing up liquid/dishwasher tablets and foil etc available for whole stay. The area was also so lovely for a balance between relaxing and having fun day trips (we did a couple of low key local things like the fountains and cardigan bay and a couple of further afield days to south Pembrokeshire taking about an hour). Only thing for us that could have improved the stay was having a heated towel rail as was difficult to dry the bath towels when raining (although our quick dry towels we brought for hottub were fine). But that is being picky and did not affect our enjoyment of the property. We would love to come baxk and some point! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Lovely and accessible. Rustic and well decorated, with charming original features. Nice greeting from Robert, came with delicious cakes and a surprise Prosecco in the fridge. Hot was the cherry on the top, however towards the end of our stay, it didnt look like it was being checked and didn’t smell or look clean as it did on our first couple of days. Other than that, I wild definitely recommend. Beautiful locations with many things to do. Diolch eto a iechyd da.

The cottage was beautiful and historic. We loved that it was away from the road so no traffic noise…. just owls calling & trees blowing in the wind. I don’t think I've ever felt so relaxed on holiday in this country. Wales had so much to offer & we will definitely return again. Thank you to our hosts who made us so welcome in Bwthyn Lan. We loved every minute!

The welcome gifts are an added bonus & additional wood can be bought from the owner at a reasonable price. . Well equipped, the owners have thought of everything to make the stay perfect, very comfortable & well appointed. The only downside was the sink in the bathroom drains very slowly & we could have done with extra towels but these are minor issues. Great location for exploring Pembrokeshire & the Cardigan area & we will definitely be returning.

Welcome gifts of Prosecco, cakes and also milk were much appreciated. There is a large rear lawn, which is bigger than the photos suggest. We set up a full size badminton court up. The bedrooms are both very comfortable and the cottage has all the amenities you need. WiFi worked great and the TV has Netflix, BBC iPlayer installed. Reading previous posts about the track from the road, it was no problem at all. It's a track, so just take your time. Thanks again to Robert and Delyth, who were so friendly and helpful.

Lovely welcome pack from the owners on arrival. The cottage was very clean, warm and well decorated. We only used the downstairs bedroom which was very comfortable with a super king bed. The hot tub was great and there was a good supply of logs provided for the wood burner. The cottage was pretty well equipped overall but you do need to take your own towels for the hot tub and I couldn’t find a hairdryer. Bwthyn Lan is located in a peaceful spot close to some spectacular coastal walks, lovely countryside and within easy driving distance of all the main attractions.

The highlight of the trip was using the hot tub every night. This getaway was a real treat for us as we wanted to completely escape and forget about the (crazy) world we live in right now after cancelling our would be wedding for that weekend. We really appreciated the bottle of prosecco and treats left for us. We felt really looked after, as local cases began to rise, the owners messaged us to check if we were ok and suggested where to go without being intrusive. There are lots of towns and beaches to visit to keep you busy. The only issues we had was that the downstairs bedroom was freezing cold. We used this room as a changing room as it was right by the hot tub and a nice big space so never stayed in here long but there was definitely a big temperature drop from the core living space. The drive off the main road was also a bit weatherworn with a few potholes, just had to make sure we went nice and slow. All in all, a lovely, secluded area with lots of home comforts.

Easy parking directly at the front door. When you enter it's almost like going back in time with the proper inglenook fireplace which features an original bread oven. A very cosy place with nooks & crannies which almost tells it's own story. The bedroom is one step down from the open plan lounge/kitchen diner & it leads perfectly into the back, very private garden where the gorgeous hot tub sits with views across the fields. There is something very special about being able to stroll from the hot tub & dry off in front of the gorgeous wood burner. If you just stayed in for your whole time you can feel as if you've had a holiday & refresh your soul. But it's also a great base to visit many surrounding beautiful places as this part of Wales is dotted with lovely bays & places of interest.

  • "Visiting Pembrokeshire had always been planned but somehow never got round to it."

When our wedding had to be postponed we had a perfect staycation opportunity with the remit we wanted somewhere quite with a bit of "shine" in the form of Hot tub, log burner on the criteria list. 15 potentials came up but with no hesitation we booked Bwthyn Lan and we ould not have been happier. Firstly the property is managed superbly by Robert and Delyth, nothing is too much trouble, and you are made very welcome on arrival with fresh baked cakes, Prosecco, fresh flowers, a bin full of logs for the log burner and enough bits and pieces to make the all too necessary cup of tea. The cottage is located in a very quite area on farmland, just what we wanted, with uninterrupted views out to the distant hills. The sunset on our first eve was absolutely stunning. Our plan was to literally chill out and do nothing but eat drink and relax in the hot tub but given out wanderlust we ended up going out everyday including a visit to Melin Tregwynt woollen mill as the blankets on our bed felt so luxurious we had to investigate. That has ended up being an expensive day....... The whole area is stunning, we hill walked, took coastal paths, went to the seaside in Tenby and Aberystwyth and saw seals, seal pups porpoises but missed seeing some whales. Some of the photos we took will end up as prints on the walls in our home. With regard to the cottage the only 2 things that are minor (and i mean minor in its very essence) is that there is no sink immediately avail at the cooker, you have to move through the living room to the utility room to strain veg etc but it really is no big deal. And the wifi can be slow or temperamental but again this was no major problem. The bathroom is fantastic, with underfloor heating, the stone floor in the living area is amazing and the whole is never cold due to the insulation, heating and log burner if needed. The hot tub was something to look forward to to relax aching muscles and even if it rained we spent a good few hours in here most evenings as we lost ourselves to he sunset views or star watching (don't tell Robert we also sipped on his complimentary prosecco as food and drink is meant to be a no no in the tub !). I would heartily recommend this cottage and there is no doubt we will visit this area again, maybe even consider a longer stay as part of a potential relocation but for a holiday location with solitude and a nod to luxury then Bwthyn Lan is right at the top of the list and will be our number one consideration for any planned return without hesitation. With regards to booking via Sykes cottages, it was fuss free, concise and priced fairly and we would use the site again. Our only small concern was that our travel insurance did not cover us in case of a covid lockdown which was a huge potential at the time of our visit and this left us with a small concern but fortunately did not manifest itself.
