  • "Lovely 4 bedroom 3 toilets and spacious terraced house."

Very quiet and short walk to shops. Town was not very busy considering it is the county capital. Plenty of shops from Waitrose, M&S, Iceland, Fat Face, Joules , White Stuff and most bars were open at night unlike some of the surrounding towns. Symonds Yat is worth a visit if you have time as it is so peaceful plus they serve Welsh Black lamb

  • "This property is very well located within the lovely town of Monmouth."

It’s clean, well equipped and spacious. The courtyard garden is well maintained and attractive. We are familiar with the town of Monmouth so we knew where we could find free parking but there are plenty of car parks within the town. We would stay here again.

  • "Property met all of our needs with regards position in Monmouth."

It was very central and very easy access to the things we required. We did have slight issue with some basic food, milk being left for us which was an excellent and helpful gesture. On arrival only half of what had been mentioned was there. It had no real bearing on our stay. Overall a very enjoyable stay in Monmouth.

Lovely spacious bedrooms, lovely walled garden, everything you needed was on hand. Thank you for the welcome pack it was appreciated.

  • "The house was great and had everything we could possibly need."

The only criticism is that the house was described as having on-street parking. I think most people would take this to mean unlimited parking whereas actually parking during the day was limited to 1 hour. Perhaps this could be made clearer on the website. Other than that the property was lovely and we enjoyed our holiday,

  • "The cottage is exactly as we hoped and the lady who owns it was helpful, informative and friendly."

The location is ideal for the centre of Monmouth and the rooms big and comfortable. Some of the furniture and décor are a bit dated but the facilities and the items left for our convenience were really kind and thoughtful. We had a great time which was assisted by very good weather. Most enjoyable.

  • "The cottage was ideally situated and very clean and comfortable."

The tips about parking were especially useful - the park is literally around the corner from the property and easy to find a free parking space later in the afternoon.

A few basic supplies (bread, milk etc) were there on our arrival, a nice touch. The property was very comfortable, well equipped and had everything we needed. It was the perfect place from which to start exploring the local countryside.

  • "A lovely old house in the centre of Monmouth."

The facilities provided everything we needed and we were very comfortable. The provision of basic supplies (bread, milk etc) was a lovely touch and much appreciated after a journey. We were able to overcome the parking issues on most days by using the spaces opposite but the all day park by the river was only a short walk away.

  • "The property is in a fantastic location in the centre of Monmouth."

The stairs to the first and second floor are quite steep and might be an issue for the very young or anyone with limited mobility. The listing showed a single bathroom/toilet but there is an extra toilet on the ground floor which was a nice surprise.

There was shops, tea rooms pubs which where a few minutes walk of the property. Great place to stay and use it as a base to explore the surrounding area. Which we did. Would really recommend the property and Monmouth.

The downstairs cloak room was a pleasant surprise. I wouldn't want to rent this property for 7 people without a dishwasher. The standard of towels, bed linen and kitchen/dining equipment was very good.

  • "A lovely cottage in a great location."

The enclosed walled garden was a real treat. it was only a very short walk into the min high street with shops, restaurants and pubs. The owners had provided books and dvds. The only real downside to the property was the lack of parking. I wonder if it is possible to get a permit (the local signs suggested they were in use on the restricted parking areas).

About the location

MONMOUTH

Ross-on-Wye 10 miles; Usk, 14.5 miles; Abergavenny 18.5 miles.

An intriguing market town on the border between Wales and England and close to the exceptional Offa’s Dyke, this wonderful town combines old and new, from the old castle ruins to the vibrant weekly market. Located at the confluence of 3 rivers – the Wye, the Monnow and the Trothy, it is an excellent base to enjoy river boating, scenic walks and a little shopping too, or to sit and relax on the edge of the river and watch the rowers who regularly race and practise their skills. Monmouth is most famous as the birthplace of Henry V and offers the opportunity to see historic buildings, the preserved medieval 13th century bridge over the river Monnow (the only one of its kind in Britain) and the famous Nelson Garden. This is truly a small town with a huge array of interesting sights to visit. The surrounding areas are steeped in history too and short drives will take you to nearby Usk, Abergavenny, Ross-on-Wye and even into the spectacular Brecon Beacons, Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.
