  • "Lovely comfy clean cottage."

The bed was really comfortable. Well equipped with everything you needed and more. The welcome gifts were very nice the wine went down a treat. Handy Co-Op to rear of property accessed via a path by side the cottage, then just a short stroll to the village center for coffee shops abd food outlets. Had a lovely stay would definitely return. Thanks Christine and Terry from Yorkshire.

  • "We had a lovely week at Rowan cottage thank you so much."

Was a perfect central base for adventures around mid Wales. It was very warm the week we went which did make the bedroom like a sauna (top floor) so would bring a fan next time to help circulate some air. Was also very excited to have been left some Bara Brith too, one of my favourites

  • "Thank you for the goodies."

Much appreciated. excellent cottage comfy bed and sofa. Excellent bathroom shower facilities too. Tv too small poor sound quality. Nb. Bolt came off bathroom door no screws only glued on !! Good kitchen facilities but no teabags provided at least run out for our visit! Garden needs a tidy (weedy/hedge trimming required) so could be a even more lovely place to sit and relax after a day out. We had a lovely walk along the river Wye and at Hay on Wye.

  • "Clean basic property, beds comfy, everything you would need in the kitchen."

Fab co-op right behind. Easy walk to the Main Street and lovely cafes. River about 2k walk away lovely walk/run around the park. Garden needs a bit of work but my daughter and myself did yoga and sat in the sun so no big deal. Overall would definitely recommend

  • "We had a fantastic week (March 2024) at Rowan Cottage."

The cottage was so cosy, warm and delightful to come home to each day. We loved the thoughtful goodie box with chocolate, wine and biscuits. The facilities exceeded our expectations. A wonderful stay.

  • "Lovely cottage with well equipped kitchen."

A thoughtful welcome hamper of goodies which was really appreciated. Plenty of bedding, towels, dvds and games. We didn’t need to leave the cottage - which was so comfortable - but we did! Managed to keep warm despite -7 degrees outside. Log burner and logs available for use - although we were warm enough without lighting this. Cottage situated in a great location for exploring beyond Builth. Would definitely stay again. Only negative was that we couldn’t find a visitors book so was not sure what to do with general rubbish.

  • "Could do with more fire logs considering we were there for 1 week."

There were only enough logs for two nights. Sofa was uncomfortable for me but outher than that everything was fine. Would stay again.

  • "Everything had been thought about here at Rowan cottage, down to a place to put used teabags and a pen to make notes."

Board games too and a good selection of dvd's. Friendly neighbours and a great place to stay in order to visit the beautiful Brecons and beyond. Would happily stay again.

  • "What a lovely surprise awaited us when we arrived, flowers, bread, tea,Welsh cakes, crisps, wine and some chocolate These really made our first night ……."

Thanks Rowan cottage is a comfortable cottage just off the main high street in Builth Wells The cottage had everything we needed, and was very clean and tidy The double bed on the third floor was very comfy we slept very well, on the second floor there are 2 single beds and a lovely bathroom with both a shower and a bath The ground floor is shared with a kitchen and a cosy living room with a log burner which we didn’t use as it wasn’t cold enough The garden was a great bonus for our dog Plenty of shops on Castle street and pubs think we counted 7 There’s some lovely cafe’s too we only visited the Cwtch cafe which do a lovely full breakfast for £5.95 if you don’t fancy cooking We really enjoyed our stay the only problem was when we first booked we thought we had WiFi as it did state WiFi but elsewhere on the listing it states coming soon which we didn’t see It wasn’t a problem for us, but was for our son and be aware the phone signal is very patchy depending on your supplier There is on road car parking outside the cottage but we never managed to park there Behind the property is a Co op were you can pay to park over night or there’s a free carpark in town The photo of the cottage really doesn’t do justice to the quality of the cottage on the inside it really is lovely I’m sure we’ll be back as we enjoyed the area so much and thanks for calling us to let us know we’d left our dog bed which allowed us to come back to collect it

In warmer months, take your culinary delights out into the enclosed rear garden, which features a private patio with bike storage, and steps up to a raised courtyard with furniture, the perfect spot to kick back and relax with your favourite, ice-cold drink in hand.

In the evenings, after you've spent time catching up on the day's events in the sitting room whilst kept warm by the crackling embers of the woodburning stove, retreat to enjoy a long, hot shower on your way to retiring for a well-earned sleep in either of the comfy beds.

When you're ready, head out and explore what your local surroundings have to offer.

A walk into Builth Wells down a cobbled walkway will bring you to The Market Builth Wells and The Market Builth Wells - both locations containing all you'll need to stock up on essentials and souvenirs.

Settle down for a spot of tea at The Cwtch Cafe before you embark on a scenic walk along the tranquil banks of the River Wye.

Once you've worked up a sufficient appetite, head to the The Fountain Inn for a traditional pub dinner, or book a table at Cosy Corner Bistro for cuisine that will please every palate.

For a full day out, the Elan Valley to the north has scenic reservoirs, awesome dams and mountain roads and to the south, Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons National Park) is positively brimming with iconic landmarks that are waiting to be explored.
