  • "Everything was great, clean,& well presented; really dog friendly."

Brilliant host . The bed was super comfortable. We thought a few more utensils in the kitchen were needed ie potato masher, small sharp vegetable knife. Local pubs & restaurant were dog friendly. We had a great stay & would definitely recommend it.

  • "Loved the short stay in the cottage, my sister and I took our dogs who were made as welcome as us."

Equipped so well for us and our dogs. Would love to return on our next visit to Cardigan.

  • "A lovely property."

Clean and well equipped. Ideal for our dog, and great little touches like blankets to put on the sofa so he could snuggle with us. Well located with a pistol y just across the road too let the dog have a run and go to the toilet (he refused to use the AstroTurf by the front door!). And easy walk into town and on street parking nearby was always straightforward. The mattresses on the bunk beds weren't very comfy. My 8 year old, who would happily sleep anywhere, found it hard to get comfy and the springs made the bed very lumpy. Worth replacing or getting mattress toppers (we created a temporary fix by using a spare duvet under the sheet) Otherwise a great place and we would happily come back!

Thank you so much for your review. The bunk beds have now been dismantled and we have new bunk beds and mattresses for all beds being delivered next week. We are currently doing lots of improvements in the property and we would love to welcome you back one day. Property Owner

The property

Ty Rhos, a well-positioned, two-bedroom home rests in the heart of Cardigan, a bustling market town in Ceredigion.

Within a short walking distance to a hub of shops, eateries, pubs and attractions, Ty Rhos is set in a prime position, ideal for couples, families, groups and most particularly welcoming to your doggy companions, as you look to explore the delights of Mid and West Wales.

Park up on the roadside and travel through the shared archway, reaching your new abode and its private, enclosed external path, offering a secure place for your warmly welcomed four-legged friends to roam.

Step indoors to be greeted by the well-equipped, kitchen/diner, complete with all the appliances required for a self-catered stay, where you can prepare and enjoy meals together.

The sitting room offers a homely feel, where you can recline on the plush corner sofa and catch up with your favourite programmes before sloping off to sleep in either the king-size or bunk bedrooms.

Complete your morning routine in the shower room before travelling on foot into the town, where you can fill the fridge at a nearby supermarket, sample some local menus and enjoy a tipple, before touring the historic Cardigan Castle, the birthplace of the Welsh Eisteddfod.

Just beyond the town limits is the Welsh Wildlife Centre, with a delightful viewing point for wildlife spotting, the National Trust remains of Cilgerran Castle and Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, ideal for all of the family.

With Poppit Sands and Mwnt Beach both within driving distance, spend sunny days relaxing upon their golden shorelines, building sandcastles, and taking a refreshing dip, before enjoying a bag of fish and chips for supper.

Or head out into Cardigan Bay on a boat trip to see if you can spot one of its resident bottle nosed dolphins.

Heading west, the explorers of the group can walk the majestic Preseli Hills and take a picture-perfect postcard image of the Neolithic Burial Chamber at Pentre Ifan.

Heading north, the coastline villages of Aberporth and Llangrannog are always worth a visit, as is the Georgian, harbourside splendour of Aberaeron.

When your day of exploring is done, return home for a meal in Cardigan's Pizza Tipi or a pub meal in the Grosvenor, or enjoy a meal at Crwst or the award-winning Yr Hen Printworks, before some well-earned rest, back at your Ty Rhos base.

The bustling market town of Cardigan in Ceredigion is set on the River Teifi and offers an array of shops, both unique local producers and larger chain stores, as well as tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and an impressive ruined castle, which is the home to the Eisteddfod. Cardigan castle has a fascinating history and has undergone substantial investment over the years. It is home to regular events throughout the year, along with a café and restaurant which has been strategically positioned with a view over the castle and River Teifi. Surrounding Cardigan is beautiful countryside, with long, dramatic cliff walks around the Cardiganshire coastline, whilst the rugged Pembrokeshire coastline is just a few miles away. You have the opportunity to visit the Cardigan Island Farm Park, wonderful Blue Flag sandy beaches like the National Trust beach Mwnt, take a boat trip to spot dolphins and seals, or horse riding at the friendly Dyfed Riding Centre. For keen cyclists take a trip on the National Cycle Route, Number 82. The nearby Preseli Mountains offer wonderful walking and cycling, with some stunning views and an ancient stone monument. Within driving distance is the town of Carmarthen, Dylan Thomas' Boat House in Laugharne, Oakwood Theme Park, Blue Lagoon indoor waterpark, Folly Farm Zoo and the Welsh Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran, as well as an array of castles, mills and craft centres.
