  • "A lovely stay with the bonus of a hot tub."

Would thoroughly recommend this property to others. Could not have asked for anything better in terms of what it provided. Perfect for the family with dogs. Lovely places to visit and eat at. Particular favorites were Poppit Sands and the Copper Pot. Thank you.

  • "Great cottage in quiet rural location."

Good quality fixtures and fittings, listed as 6 bed, but I would say it sleeps 4 comfortably as 2 of beds are more day beds with no curtain or blind over glass door that leads to living room. Only 1 bathroom. Lovely hot tub and enclosed garden. Disappointed no welcome pack, after a 6 hour drive all we wanted was a cuppa but no milk so had to go to Tesco for milk. A few little issue's, TV remote didn't work, so limited viewing, no oven cloth, light bulb missing in bedroom, outdoor fairy lights didn't work and outside security light also not working. Fix these and it would be 5 star. Would recommend & hope to visit again

  • "Cottage is very peaceful, clean and well furnished."

Double bed a little soft but we are fussy. Splendidly dogproof garden. Instruction book should have first section on special covid requirements removed as some of it conflicts with current instructions, but not a problem. Useful maps and beach details included. Being rather unmechanical we gladly used the oven instructions, but perhaps dishwasher manual could be added - we found it online. No books or games or welcome pack provided (still perhaps covid-careful) but we didn't need them. Didn't use the hot tub.

Close to town but not in town. Countryside site, with just a short walk or drive into town if desired. The cottage was quirky but really comfortable. We met the owner and she was very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Very peaceful location but still within walking distance of supermarkets and town centre. Added bonus of hot tub and lovely garden area. The only very small issue we encountered was the information booklet needs updating, it still refers to Covid rules.

  • "We loved the cottage and the hot tub was a fantastic bonus."

It was our first holiday in Wales since we moved to Wales a year ago. The only issue had was with the cottage information booklet. It needs to be updated as still contains conflicting information about COVID rules and the checking out process was not clear. The recycling info with regards to the bins and bin man dates did not agree with what was onsite.

  • "On the whole a very comfortable cottage."

The beds were very comfy. The facilities were good however, the toilet wouldn’t flush properly and on 2 occasions it became blocked. The iron lead needs attention as it was showing bare wires. We did what the instructions asked us to do and put the bins and recycling out and it stayed out for a week. When the bins were collected they completely ignored ours and we couldn’t not fit anymore rubbish in it. It was almost full when we arrived so maybe the owner needs to speak to the refuge collectors. Otherwise we had a very restful stay at this property.

A lovely, clean and well equipped cottage. Hot tub was a bonus to take in the quiet and peacefulness with added wildlife noises- day and night- Bliss! Location is excellent to adventure out to the local shops and pubs of cardigan, llangrannog and Newquay- child and dog friendly beaches with an added boat trip out to see the Dolphins and sea pups. • "Loved the cottage."

Delivered more than promised. Facilities were great. Good shower and kitchen well equipped. Hot tub was great although it did suggest it needed a deep clean as there were certainly marks left on the sides after use which we had to clean. Toilet bowl clunks when sitting on it and definitely needs a new tap in the bathroom. But these were niggly issues which didn’t detract from the overall experience….we thought it was great and the secure garden was a bonus for the dog…..

BQ not fit for purpose. Key safe didn’t work and no spare key. Door was open when we arrived?? No one to meet us or pop in and check if everything was ok . Patio doors not fit for purpose.

Beds were really comfortable, the lounge has plenty of seating and the TV us huge. My other half was happy! The hot tub was a great bonus. I thought we would barely use it, but ended up using it every day. Looking out across the open fields from the Hot Tub was actually a highlight of the whole place. We had to head back early for personal reasons, but we still squeezed in loads. We saw Dolphins at New Quay, ate at the local Pizza Tipi, headed into Aberystwyth for a bit of retail therapy. Saw seals from the cliffs at the Cardigan Coastal Farm park. Hope to return one day!

  • "REVIEW OF Y FELIN COTTAGE, CARDIGAN WALES MAY 2023 Overall Summary: We stayed at Y Felin for 7 nights in May 2023."

This was our second cottage holiday with our adopted rescue dog. She is highly reactive to many situations, so we booked Y Felin as it was quite secluded and out of the way - and it catered for dogs! (Although, for us, with a reactive, dog the fence surrounding the side of the garden was not particularly high and we had to keep our dog on a lead whilst she was outside….just in case !!) It proved to be a great base from which to explore the Cardigan area of Wales and, at a pinch, you could probably walk into Cardigan but, unfortunately, that wasn’t an option for us. The cottage itself is set on the roadside in a small hamlet and has a peaceful secluded garden with views over open countryside and woodland. The garden housed the hot tub which we hadn’t had in any of our previous holiday cottages Surprisingly for us, it turned out to be a great place (and regular way) of relaxing at the end of each day following our exploration of the local beaches. It was a nice option to have. With secure parking for at least 2 cars, it’s only minutes from the main road (and a couple of large supermarkets) up a short, single track, lane. There is minimal passing traffic. The property itself is very well furnished and homely and has pretty much everything that guests could need. Open plan in layout and decorated and furnished in a traditional style it had a couple of sofas, a small armchair and a 6-seater dining table inside, a picnic table and a table with 6 chairs on the small patio outside, together with a well-equipped kitchen. We also found that the small utility room that housed the oil-fired boiler and the freezer was an ideal spot for drying out our damp clothing and footwear at the end of each day. The log burner in the lounge area looked very homely and a good supply of logs was supplied, but there was no need for us to use it during our stay. It has 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. That said, one of the bedrooms was more of a converted garden room with French doors leading out into the garden (It had 2 single beds in it but no wardrobe space). The double bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. Ffion was a good host and, as she lives just up the road, was always on hand to sort out any issues which occurred during our stay quickly – and to our satisfaction. If you want a base to stay in when you’re visiting this part of Cardigan then Y Felin could be for you. That said we did feel that there were some areas that looked a little tired and where a lack of attention to detail let the cottage down a little. For us, these were: • A layer of dust in some areas. (Granted, the cottage had been empty the week before we arrived but we would have expected that to be picked up in a check before our arrival). • There were only 11 coat hangers supplied for the 3 bedrooms (and potentially 6 people). • The kitchen was well equipped but with most of the cupboard and drawer space being taken up with kitchen equipment, crockery and utensils there was very little space to store groceries etc. • No washing or dishwasher tablets were supplied. We do understand that this might not be a problem for some people but it would be a nice touch for the time we were there (and save having to buy a large pack of both from the supermarket). • There was no handwash or soap supplied in the bathroom. • One of the dog bowls supplied was dirty and clearly hadn’t been washed since the last visitors had used it. • The clothes airer supplied was old and broken. • The doors into and out of the garden bedroom were sticking and very difficult to open. • The key to the French doors out into the garden was missing. • One of the 2 light bulbs in the cooker hood was missing. • The shower head and the towel rail in the bathroom were showing signs of wear and corrosion. • The toilet pan was not secured to the bathroom floor so moved slightly when you sat on it ! • The barbeque was a little old and tired as was the table and chairs on the patio. • The provision of a small “Welcome pack” would be a nice touch. It would be a great way to showcase some of the local produce and wouldn’t cost much to put together. (That said, if the cost was an issue then it could easily be added to the fees for hiring the cottage- and go pretty much unnoticed). We have to say that none of these issues had a significant impact on our holiday but most (if not all) of them could be easily remedied and help create a much stronger impression on future visitors.

The cottage was decorated for the holiday period and felt very warm and cosy. It is actually much nicer than portrayed in the pictures. Beautifully clean, extremely well equipped with all you could need. Had a slight problem with the hot water on Boxing Day, but the owner/manager got in touch with us an sorted it out within about an hour, so it didn’t spoil the trip in any way. The hot tub was ready to use and we absolutely loved it. The whole thing was perfect. Great location, feels like out in the country, but just a short walk into Cardigan.
