  • "We had a lovely break at the apartment."

It was late March and so slightly quieter, which was great because the dog could run on the beach and we were not unduly disturbed by any activity at the pizza bar below or pub next door. Even with open mic night - the bar was prompt at closing down, so we didn't get noise persisting beyond 10pm. The apartment is pretty close to the beach and a coffee bar and a small beach shop - far enough to not get disturbed and close enough to be convenient. It did get busy on the road below on the weekend - it is a popular little beach area, and even has a sauna pod - its a blue flag beach and had some nice rocks to scramble on, with a decent tide range. There was some lovely local produce (bread, milk, butter, jam) waiting for us, which we enjoyed and encouraged us to buy local produce. This is a great "welcome pack". I would have appreciated some information about the surrounding attractions, but that said, everything is on google these days so paper leaflets would go out of date. We had missed in the original listing that there were 20 metal steps up to the apartment. However, the steps were sturdy with a good handrail and gripping treads - so definitely a challenge for anyone with mobility issues, but my 80 year old mother made it up and down safely. The whole bay area is quite steep but the cliff walks up the coast are lovely to Penbryn (the Plwmp Tart has excellent cakes and sausage rolls) and the walk to Aberport is much more mobility friendly once you make it up the initial climb (with useful benches). The nature reserve and Castle at Cilgerran are also well worth a visit. By the time we left, the car parking space was clearly labelled. Whilst the label had been missing when we arrived, the neighbours below were super helpful and always made sure that we had a parking space. The directions about the turn to the drive being on a hair pin bend were very helpful as it did take us a while to work out where the access drive was - but I had been driving a long time by then, so it was probably my tired brain. The accommodation was comfortable and attractive. As a physics graduate, I mastered the cooker - but it was not simple. The guides for all appliances were in a drawer under the oven - I'd recommend the owners maybe put them in a sleeve because they came out a lot for reference as the microwave was integral to the oven (it took us a while to work this out). The heaters worked really well and again involved some study of the manuals to make sense of them. In the kitchen, the appliances were high tech - a splashback would protect the wall behind the cooker - but it was clean and we got a good amount of cooking done in there. The leaving of dishwasher tabs was thoughtful, as was the cleaner - so we could keep on top of housework (a spare vacuum might have been handy because sand just appeared everywhere, with the beach down the road). The fridge and small icebox did the job - there is a good sized Tesco maybe 20 minutes drive away in Cardigan. The shower was lovely, the bath was limited for me as it is flush against an inclined ceiling and so I was a bit tall/ long to comfortably use it to bath or to shower - but it looked great and would be great for dunking children in. The bedrooms were very comfortable and clean - though you need to be flexible if you want to enter the master bed from the window side as you have to limbo under a beam. It is quaint and cute - I suspect very tall individuals might spend some time cursing the beams but we were fine (at 5 ft 7ins). The little dangling octopus thing in the kitchen hung from the beam was genius. Many times I felt it tickle my hair before I straightened up and so avoided a few bumps on the head from that particular beam. The location is lovely - the big windows give a fabulous view over the bay and of sunsets. There are window bays that give space to sit and watch the world. Whilst the wind did howl around the dormer windows a little - it was March and we were effectively in a loft space. The little deck area is a complete suntrap, so we were surprised to be sitting out in the sunshine soaking up the rays during March, but it happened. It was also contained, so the dog could safely doze outside. It would be nice to have some towel hooks for the bathrooms, but we managed perfectly well draping towels over beams or doors. The bins are down below the staircase. It took us a while to work this out, and the previous visitors had left food waste in the caddy on the patio which had gone nasty and filled up with water. I took this down below the stairs when I worked out what had happened. Again the neighbours below were super helpful when we left and did help us with bags down the stairs.

  • "Very disappointed with this listing as it does not feel accurate to the pictures or the description."

I would not have booked this accommodation if I knew it was directly above the pub. There were poor instructions to find the apartment as Google takes you to the wrong road. The parking is not guaranteed and one night we only managed to get a spot because someone was leaving. Every other house has a sign to show its designated parking, and the parking for this accommodation is basically a building site anyone can park on. The welcome food and drink were lovely, but there is no welcome pack to explain anything. There is a sign to leave food waste in the green bin, but the bin outside the apartment has never been removed and is full of rotten food. The views are beautiful, but there are no blinds in the main bedroom, and the pub below has lights on until around 10:30. After this, we could hear either the pub clearing away or work being completed on the apartment below, so not very restful. The bed also had small white hairs all over it, which was very off‑putting. All the doors and windows have to be slammed to be shut, which is quite annoying. The floor looks lovely but is not suited for younger children due to some of the knots showing and being tripped on. Overall, a very disappointing accommodation. The area is beautiful, but this accommodation is only suitable as a base for a couple.

Thanks so much for sharing your feedback it’s really appreciated. The parking space is marked, but I’m sorry it wasn’t clear when you arrived. We’ve now improved the travel directions for future guests to make things easier, and the listing does mention the nearby pub. Thanks again for helping us make the experience even better, and we hope to welcome you back soon. Property Owner

  • "We stayed at Awel Deg a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it despite the weather."

The apartment is cosy and the king size bed was very comfortable! It’s well equipped and the crockery is very nice! The views of Tresaith Beach and Cardigan bay are quite spectacular. The beach and coastal path are only a stones throw away from the apartment. It’s also a short walk to 2 pub/restaurants one of which occasionally has live music! Although it’s listed as a second floor apartment, there is only one flight of steps to the little roof garden and front door as the rest of the building is on a slope. It’s well positioned to explore other areas and beaches in the locality and further afield. Don’t forget to check out Tresaith waterfall!

  • "Could do with a welcome pack as we couldn’t figure out the cooker,tv etc."

.also couldn’t connect to the WiFi but that was minor as we had good connection thru our phones..we didn’t know where to leave our bin bags at the end of our stay..a few hooks on the doors or somewhere to dry our bath towels would be ok as well as a blind or curtains on the sleeping area window especially for people that are light sensitive...other than that the accommodation was very clean, and in a great location..all in all it’s minor issues and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Thank you for your feed back! Sorry about the wifi code there was a mistake on the password which should now be correct. We have also added the welcome pack to. We hope to see you again soon. Property Owner
