Properties that display the Sustonica badge have successfully passed the criteria,
which align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council standards,

"The general appearance was disappointing."
We thought the front garden parking area would benefit from a good tidy up over grown with weeds.The windows needed cleaning and rear outlook was in need of brightening up as grubby.The kitchen was functional and basic for example only one tea towel provided for a week's stay.The ceilings are discolored in some of the rooms.Lack of visitors book which can be helpful on local recommendations.
Comfortable bed and good quality bedding.
Needs a bit of TLC.

Tresaith a firm favorite. Fine to walk down to the beach, but for sea dips and boarding we went for the carpark- 2 quid in the honesty box. Quick nip in the car to Aberporth shop for essentials. Cardigan friendly larger town - good vegan section in Tesco's! Arm yourself with pound coins for all the beach carparks- Penbryn, Aberporth etc. Did the New Quay boat trip and were rewarded with dolphin and seal sightings, kittiwakes swooping overhead- wonderful. We are plotting a return to Cwmberwyn when life a little less busy- a fortnight at least hopefully. The owners were next door, but very unobstrusive- a bottle of plonk in the fridge and welcome waffles; Faith in Nature toiletries- discreet care, left by the fairies. Best Sykes experience yet and we're clocking up a few...

"The property would benefit from a little t l c as there were lots of scuffs on walls and the ceiling in the bathroom needed a clean as there were black spots were visible."
(Considering this was early in the season not really a good impression )
Having said that, the beds were comfortable and towels supplied were fluffy and white . There was plenty of hot water and the property was lovely and warm , the view from the lounge to the sea was great and a real sun trap in the afternoon .
We were able to walk from the property to the beach , access the coastal path and walk up through the local forest . The local area has lots of lovely beaches to explore .

"I would say that the photos for this property do not do it justice!"
Lovely warm and cosy home that had what the three of us needed for Easter weekend. Lots of room to park two cars. Plenty of room in the kitchen for provisions to be put away. More than enough space for three or 4 adults to be comfortable in the lounge. Bedrooms well organised - had to resist the urge to pack the Welsh Wool throw and cushions on departure! Bathrooms lovely and warm with plenty of hot water. Emily was a lovely host - alerting us to a plumbing issue before our arrival but had fixed it by the time we got there. The goodies left were well appreciated. Quiet spot but walking distance from the pub on the beach. Would be perfect for two couples wanting a base for the Ceredigion coast.

We found the accommodation as per the instructions given and wow what more can I say.
The little gift of Prosecco and the chocolate waffles was a nice touch and we settled in straight away before exploring. We loved it so much we are booking again for May.

"We had a delightful week at Cwmberwyn."
The accommodation is clean and comfortable with sea views from the balcony. The owners thoughtfully left a welcome pack of milk, fizz and Welsh cakes. The location is ideal in a quiet location, only 10 minutes walk to Tresaith beach from where you can access the coastal path in both directions. The Ship Inn on the beach is a friendly pub serving delicious food.

"This is a fantastic property in an equally fantastic location."
We travelled as two couples and the two equally sized rooms and bathrooms meant there was no squabbling over rooms. The view from the balcony is amazing!! The walk to the pub is quick and its well worth a visit. It is a little steep on the way back up but not enough to put us off. The property itself was beautifully clean and had everything we needed. Emily had even left a bottle of prosecco in the fridge for our arrival. We really couldn't fault it and would 100% stay again!

"Emily was the perfect host, texting us before our arrival and then greeting us, but leaving us alone to enjoy Cwmberyn, we knew she was only next door if we required anything."
Location for Tresaith and Penbryn beaches is great and within walking distance if you are fit.
Accommodation was first rate and we would certainly consider returning.

Only apparent garden was that in main residence - and they have cats!! Instructions said nearest ‘toilet’ for the dogs was down the road- was a very narrow , muddy , slippy track

"This is our 3rd stay at Cwmberwyn, Tresaith we love both the accommodation and the location."
We have 2 dogs that settle down and feel at home, the location has plenty of places to walk your dogs and we're mostly fortunate to have dry mild weather. The accommodation is comfortable and has a really relaxing feel, just what we need.

"Had a wonderful stay."
It was wonderful to wake up in the morning and just look out into the distance from inside or on the balcony. The kitchen was well equipped. The property was very clean and provided everything that we needed. Loved the fact that it had off road parking. Enjoyed the walk down to the beach, but it is up hill on the way back. The beach is lovely and clean and offers a lovely coastal walk to Aberporth which has seating along the way. There is a lovely friendly pub which offers great views of the beach and sea. It was an ideal place to stay and travel around to different local places.

"Great property, Beautiful location, relaxing, sitting on the balcony of a morning was a true sign of being on holiday."
Emily and Harriet were great, good communication and nothing too much trouble. A short drive to amenities. Welsh opening hours have dramatically improved over the last 20 years. The Pub in the village just up from the beach doesn't disappoint either, just remember its a uphill walk home. Direct access to the Coastal path meant a walk was a good option on those overcast days.

Emily helpful. Appreciated quality of all the fixtures and fittings. Warm and stylish. Struggling to think of any negatives. Maybe the childrens size cutlery. Perhaps a lot of it disappears and it’s the cheapest option.
We were very lucky with the weather for December and had a much needed relaxing break.

"It is wonderful to be able to cook with proper equipment when on holiday in a self-catering cottage."
Cwmberwyn had plenty of pots and pans knives etc, which meant that we were able to cook properly. Often the pots and pans in are whatever oddments the owners have at the back of their cupboards. Not everybody can afford to go out to eat so thank you for thinking about that aspect of self catering holidays. Cwmberwyn had a good feel to it and was a lovely space to be in. The furnishings were comfortable and the space was calming. Our dogs loved the underfloor heating and we humans did too! Not only this we could see the sea- just about perfect. Thank you

"Tresaith is our favourite beach in Wales, as we spent our honeymoon here 15 years ago."
Unfortunately the cottage we rented then is now a lived in, so we booked Cwmberwyn which was an utter delight. We have holidayed in Sykes cottages on numerous occasions in England and Wales and have never been disappointed and we have already booked a cottage in Cornwall for next year. The owners have always been polite, friendly and helpful, and the owners of Cwmberwyn were no exception ( a welcome gift of a bottle of wine and some Welsh Cakes was a lovely touch) . We would and have recommended Sykes cottages to family and friends.
