  • "To wake up every morning and look out over the rolling hills of Monmouthshire was magnificent."

If your looking for peace and tranquil surroundings then this is the place to go. A short drive to the bigger towns which have everything you need. Highly recommend.

As previous people mentioned the slippery shower we brought our own shower mat which was just as well as one wasn’t available. Loved every minute of our stay and will definitely return.

  • "This is a great place for peace & quiet."

We did have a few minor problems which will probably have been rectified by now. First tragedy was that the can opener didn't work. I usually take mine with us, but had forgotten. When I tried to use the oven, blue smoke came billowing out of it. The toilet seat didn't fit the pan which meant you could pinch yourself when you sat. The shower had no mat, so was slippery. Agree with the person who said the signage wasn't good. We had to ring the owner because we had missed the hidden entrance to the track. We did really enjoy our very lazy stay though.

Very tidy and well equipped. Stunning views from all windows. Lovely to sit outside by the fire with a bottle of wine watching the world go by. Nice and rural with lots of local walks. Would recommend Tintern and Chepstow.

  • "The Comfy Cow has spectacular views and a very comfortable bed."

It is in a rural setting, which suited us. A welcome pack was provided. However, the property was cold on our arrival (14 degrees) and remained cold during our stay as the central heating did not remain on in spite of it being set to constant. This issue was raised with the owner and with Sykes numerous times during our stay, but the owner never came to the property while we were there to assist us with this problem. The heating issue completely spoilt our enjoyment of a much-anticipated holiday.

The views are amazing and we sat and watched the sunset everynight. The road was very steep and bendy which made it difficult to access on our motorbikes. We contacted the owner and she kindly arranged for us to store them in barns at the bottom. This place has been very cleaverly designed and the only thing that was missing was a shower mat. We will hopefully return but will come by car next time. I have already recommended this place to friends.

A sign on the Old Chepstow Road would certainly have helped. Disappointed that there were no “passing places” on the lane leading from the Old Chepstow Road as reversing in either direction was quite taxing (as we found out). The Comfy Cow with its unique breathtaking views was however well worth the visit and we thoroughly enjoyed our week there. We certainly appreciated the comfortable bed . Thank you.

My only criticism would be that it is not very well sign posted. Our sat nav sent us a few miles in the wrong direction, however we phoned the contact number and the owners were friendly and happy to give us directions. We booked this to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. Everything about this property was impressive down to the quality of the crockery. No expense has been spared throughout the property and really gave the luxurious feel that we were looking for. The lock down occurred during our stay here but as we were secluded and self sufficient we were not affected, and we were able to see out of break in comfort and peace. Waking up in the morning to the amazing views of the Beacons was a delight and to actually be able to get away and feel like a proper break away from home, was so refreshing and well needed for our sanity lol. I would highly recommend this property to anybody who asked, there was nothing negative about this property and worth every penny. The owners have done a fantastic job with the Comfy Cow and it is the perfect place to get away.

The cottage was cosy and gorgeous! The view was to die for and made getting up each morning an absolute joy. We were very lucky with the weather so got to sunbathe and sit outside but when the weather broke it was also amazing to sit and watch the lightning given the sheer expanse of sky. Kathy was super helpful when we couldn't get the dishwasher working and there were a few lovely treats to greet us when we arrived, which was a lovely touch. Very glad we found this place given we booked only a week before going; absolutely stunning and the cattle grazing out front were a pleasure!
