  • "Henllys was a mixed bag."

As a group of over 60s on a walking holiday, we had a very enjoyable week overall. The house has plenty of space, the beds are comfortable and the showers/baths/loos all work well. It was obvious that the house had been cleaned but the oven was very dirty and the single beds covered hair and other detritus. We needed to clean some of the ancient cutlery before using it. The owner replaced a damaged kettle for us. Outside, there was an obvious lack of care - recycling and rubbish had not been collected - parts of the garden were overgrown or untidy - surrounding farm buildings are in disrepair. Two items of rustic furniture collapsed beneath us. This is a large, spacious property in peaceful countryside with glorious views. It has huge potential for development and could be lovely. It isn't there yet but it can still be an effective base for a group or large family holiday.

  • "A fantastic house that housed 12 of us with plenty of space."

The kitchen was great, and actually made cooking for lots of people a real pleasure. The weather unfortunately was terrible, but the house made up for that, providing plenty of cosy spaces to relax in and enjoy.

  • "Great place, one thing worth mentioning that you might want to change in the listing, it doesn't mention anywhere that the one room has the curtain rather than the door on the bathroom (it's not even a good curtain) ended up having to use the bathroom down the hall."

  • "Just what we needed for our big whole-family holiday."

Plenty of room, inside and out. Enough and comfortable seating for everyone. Space for the grandchildren to run around outside. Good location. Very good bathrooms! Enough bedrooms (often lacking). Quiet. Peaceful. Underfloor air-pump heating very impressive. Mixed feelings about the cutlery. Kitchen lacks a potato smasher for mashed potato. (I don’t care for mashed potato myself, but some of my grandchildren like it.) Would have liked a mop to clean down the dog’s paw prints inside the backdoor/boot room/utility room, but you may care too much for you skirting boards (understandable). We heard the owls, missed the bats and saw no dormice. Overall, very highly recommended. Thank you!

  • "A beautiful house, tastefully decorated and furnished, in a perfect situation with views over the Preseli hills."

Perfect place to escape and slow down, with so much to see in the local area.

  • "We had a super stay and loved the house."

However as it is so remote it would have been nice to have a welcome pack of milk, tea, biscuits etc as we have always had in holiday cottages. There were not many instructions particularly about departure and what to do with linen but an excellent supply of mugs, plates, etc. There are lots of steps between bedrooms and en-suites which could be very dangerous at night. A history of the house would have been interesting.

Lovely house, lots of space for our big group. Beautiful views and beaches close by kept everyone entertained.

  • "Beautiful place and location."

A few ‘minor’ things that would make a positive impact - toiletries; sun umbrella(s); a small arrivals pack (a box of Welsh tea and bara brith, if nothing more), some smaller pans…..we weren’t always cooking for the whole family. Some history of the house. We would also have made use of a blender and a microwave.

  • "We had a most wonderful week in Henllys."

I was initially concerned as to how child friendly it would be, but the wild garden and rope swing meant our grandchildren had lots of fun. I would mention that there was a broken wall light in the kitchen, and the centre kitchen light did not work. Also on the window seat in the dining room the tops of the screws were proud and sharp. The EPNS cutlery is a nice touch but needs dipping/ cleaning.

  • "We had such a great time at Henllys as a group of 14 - there was plenty of space for everyone without feeling on top of each other, and great to have a table big enough to all sit down together at."

The house was even more incredible than it looked in the photos and the location and view was stunning. Would 100% recommend!
