  • "We had another fantastic week at the Beach Shack!"

and actually caught a fish this time! The accommodation was beautifully clean and really well equipped with the most comfortable holiday bed ever. It feels a real home from home and we particularly appreciated the woodburner with the cooler evenings. Fantastic walks with the dog up the estuary and around to Scott's bay with an amazing variety of birds, including curlews. egrets, herons, oyster catchers and ducks. Already booked for next year, spring and autumn

  • "We had a lovely tranquil stay at the beach Shack."

The beds very comfortable. Loved the log burner. Our old Dogs loved the short walk to the beach. Decking out front was slippery when it rained.

  • "The property was dirty, the blinds were broken, curtain filthy , minimal equipment in the kitchen for 4 people the shower was old and ground in dirt all around the doors , the towels were all old and faded, cobwebs everywhere and generally neglected."

The cabin is nice in a good location but £530 for three nights is utterly unacceptable given the condition of the property. Such a shame as a clean well appointed cabin would not take much effort at all. Not a single fire lighter or log to burn on arrival with a filthy old used barbecue to great us outside the front door . Lovely spot but I do feel ripped off

We don’t, but the owner thinks we’re too fussy. We don’t seem to be the first guests to complain about this place, but I don’t think the owner is listening.

Very comfortable for us and ideal for our dog. It is such a friendly place and easy to walk to the local pub for food in the evening. Bliss to sit out in the garden reading and watching the birds and rabbits. The front is a sun trap, warm and sheltered so ideal for an evening meal and glass of wine. It is a charming place, no frills, just perfect.

A real 'home from home' feeling, well equipped and furnished ( loved the new sofa!). We had a bracing ( force 8 gale Agnes) walk to Scotts bay and then toasted teacakes on the woodburner- Heaven! we will be back in the spring

  • "We had a lovely stay, despite the rain."

I've always loved LLansteffan since my college days in Carmarthen and it was great to be back. Dogs loved their walks on the beach as did we. Cosy cottage and equipped with everything we needed. Just a couple of points about the property.. The front door is warped and there are gaps around some of the windows. This didn't spoil our stay, and I would come back, but maybe not in the winter! A bit of dust in corners and under furniture, but everthing else clean and tidy.

It was perfect in every way and we loved our stay there. Every comfort had been considered and it was really well equipped. The beach was literally on our doorstep and breathtakingly beautiful. The views were incredible and there were very few people around, so the sense of peace and quiet was great. Our dogs loved the freedom it gave them as it was all so safe. Locals we met were very friendly and kind too. A wonderful holiday location!

  • "This was our second stay in this lovely property."

Perfect for walks along the beach with our small pooch. The garden isn't enclosed so our dog is on a long line but is quite happy on rabbit patrol, meeting all the other dogs that walk past. Also no tv or wifi but 4G reception is very good. If you want an escape from everything then this place is perfect.

  • "We loved our stay at The Beach Shack so much we have booked again for next year."

Obviously it is a stunning location but the shack was so restful and perfect for us and our little dog. It was done out with care and attention and had everything you need. The ambiance was chilled out and the furniture was comfy. Did not need the wood burner but maybe if we come in colder weather we can give it a go. Would happily live there!!!! Only one suggestion... a few more board games. Left a pack of cards there for others to use. Did enjoy playing 'Triv' and had some giggles over the joke book.

Perfect for a peaceful, hassle free break and our two dogs enjoyed themselves as much as we did! The Beach Shack was comfortable and cosy, only downside was that the soft furnishings ( sofas, curtains and cushions) were rather grubby which was a pity but is something that can easily be put right for future guests. Thanks for a lovely few days in beautiful Llansteffan!

  • "Exactly as described and expected."

The location is remote and lovely, a number of shacks spaced out around a few acres, but with trees and shrubs giving a sense of privacy. Didn't feel at all British, more like the sort of places you find in countries like Australia. Hope you don't need it, but there is a very good vet at the showground on the A40, right side of Carmarthen and very easy to get to. Took our old Lab who collapsed in the heat expecting the worse, only to get her back at 7 the next morning good as new, having been treated with oxygen, ice, etc. So that being said, this is an absolutely perfect place for a dog holiday. Not many people there, but those that were all seemed to have dogs, and to be tolerant and considerate. Also, facilities were absolutely fine.

  • "Whilst the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen were generally acceptable, although not good, the living areas were poorly maintained and in an unacceptable state of cleanliness."

On arrival we had to do a thorough clean of all surface areas, including soft furnishings. There were two sofas, we only sat on one, after surface washing, drying and spraying with dettol upholstery aerosol, the other sofa remained unused. The rocking chair was filthy and need several cleanings and spraying before it could be used. There was a large fresh blood stain on the back of this chair too. All switches and light pulls had to be cleaned, the floor lamp was filthy. Under beds remain dusty. Most of the cobwebs have been removed, but not the large old one between the oven door glass. The Beach Shack was far cleaner after our stay than it was before. The Shack was well ventilated - you could see through gaps in the walls and around all the poorly fitting windows. Two of the three external doors were non-operational. There appears to be a number of attempts to fill small holes around the wooden frame windows with random blotches of white filler, which was then left un-sanded etc. The garden was overgrown, although there was recent evidence of hacking back of the brambles. However, the kitchen utensils and dishes etc were clean and appropriate, the bedding and towels were clean and there were clear instructions re waste disposal. This Beach Shack has obviously been loved in the past and could be lovely again with some care and attention to detail. The location was the Beach Shack's saving grace. It was idyllic, very beautiful beach and excellent country walks.

  • "Do not book this property !"

! What the owners describe as rustic is just a poor excuse for bad maintenance . The garden is the worst kept on site and is a breeding ground for rats ,not rabbits as was told they were ! In the event of a fire only one door has keys ,which the owner has actually emailed to say is the case . Wooden shack and no fire escapes ? Sykes will not refund so be very careful when booking .

  • "Where do I start."

. Very difficult to locate with inaccurate directions and nobody answering the phone to speak to about this! The local shop within 1 mile appears to be closed constantly and shuts daily at 14:00 meaning when you check in at at 15:00 there is nowhere to shop - nearest supermarket is 20 mins away. The shack is held together with temporary repairs and just needs some tlc. We spent the first night deep cleaning the touch points and surfaces. 2 door handles are broken which made using them interesting. Spiders and cobwebs everywhere, including oven (yes that’s that right, the oven). Children and us refused to sit on furniture so purchased some bed sheets to use as sofa covers. Previous guests food was left in fridge, shower also had previous users belongings in. Active wasp nest on the side. Our Dog developed an allergy whilst there which must be dust related. Dog poo left in the garden from previous user. Checked out early. I could go on and on… Been back two weeks and still await feedback and a resolution from Sykes, very disappointed. I will be exploring false advertisement of this holiday

  • "What a lovely weekend stay!"

The shack is in an amazing location if peace and quiet is what you’re after, the beds are super comfortable and the log burner was cosy in the evenings. Cleanliness was okay, but a few things missed (bins not emptied, shower screen dirty, cobwebs in windows). Also a microwave would have been handy- although that could just be a personal preference. Overall though, a lovely, peaceful break and we would recommend!

We loved the new decking, completing the perfect sun trap and made good use of the new fridge freezer- the freezer drawers perfect for a big Covid food shop and speed chilling the Prosecco. So lovely to stroll along the estuary, enjoying the spring sunshine, bluebells, primroses and fruit tree blossom with amazing wildlife, particularly enjoying seeing the herons and egrets The Beach Shack has the most comfortable holiday bed ever and it is great to avoid TV, Wifi and other districtions ( although good 4G signal just in case!) so that we can unwind gently with a good book in perfect peace and quiet. It would have been good to have some instructions In the shack about the coloured bags for the rubbish and where to dispose of it. On a practical note I would remove the very torn, stained voile curtain from the front door as this creates the wrong impression. We would certainly book another holiday there.
