"We had a great time here and the selling point of this holiday is the views and location ."
The property is in much need of maintenance and on arrival I thought we had turned up at a building site as cement mixer in garden . Location to beach is perfect and this is a popular booking with guests . We went out most days and weather was good . Only thing to mention is the general tiredness of the decor . Needs some love

"Such an amazing location."
Right above the beach in the sand dunes. Cottage itself needs a little TLC but it wouldn’t stop us returning due to the location alone. Lots of walks to do in either direction from your door. Peaceful end of the beach (great cafe at the other end). We got lucky with the weather and our family of 4 had a great break here. Really enjoyed being able to walk straight down to the beach (the way back up will keep you fit for sure). Access to the property also requires you to be able to walk your luggage through some slightly over grown sandy paths but that wasn’t a problem for us. Tescos delivery met us in the pub car park as he didn’t want to get his van stuck as the road to the house is narrow, but again for us that wasn’t a problem. Being that bit more remote just added to the relaxation we felt whilst there.

"Another enjoyable week at Beach Cove."
There was a lot of rain, but the views from the property are fantastic whatever the weather. The close proximity to the beach and coast path mean it is easy to take advantage of any sunshine when it does come along. The decking area is also great for relaxing outdoors and appreciating the surroundings. We have been returning to Beach Cove for 15 years, it is a very special place.

"Our fourth holiday at Beach Cove!"
A truly wonderful place in an unbeatable location. Our new dog loved the beach.

"Access is difficult because of the walk from the car and the road in."
The building seems to be very poorly insulated as I needed to light the stove every night in addition to all the other heating provided. Therefore i felt that the wood for the stove should have been free. When the sun shone the main bedroom became unbearably hot. I would not advise staying there in summer months. The bathroom could have been cleaner and the space under and behind the couch had not been vacuumed for some time.

"Lovely place, everything we expected from a beach house."
Lovely views and great dog walks. 4x4 was very useful. We'll definitely come again and will recommend to family and friends.
-
"A lovely cottage with the most amazing views and access to the beach."
Everything you need is provided. Unfortunately the local pub was closed but January is very off season and I guess the economics don't stack up. An amazing location all in all. Would be great to re visit in the spring and summer.
-
"A nice old fashioned style large wooden chalet that has been substantially modernised and recently redecorated inside."
Nice views of the surrounding coast and countryside and close, downhill, to the sandy beach. From where you park the car there is a grass footpath to the entrance that can be muddy and slippery, so those with walking difficulties might find it hard going. We would stay there again.

"Beach Cove has to be in the most perfect location, the views over the sea and the beach were truly unspoilt and you can reach the beach from the cottage in less than a 2 minute walk."
The cottage had absolutely everything that we needed and the milk, welsh cakes and selection of teas on arrival was just perfect. Unfortunately, whilst we were there, storm Babet hit the UK and when we woke up on the Wednesday morning, the gate to the beach had blown over although this didn't cause us any issues and hopefully it will soon be rectified. The property is feeling a little tired and could do with a little bit of TLC in places, but would this stop me visiting again.... No it wouldn't. On the whole me, my wife and our 2 rescue dogs had a great week at Beach Cove and after reading the guest comments in the visitor book at the property, so have many other people who have visited time and time again. I believe that there are too many beautiful places in the UK to visit, so I have a personal rule that I will never go back to the same place that I have previously visited, but if I did, I would definitely return to Beach Cove.

"Wow what a view it was so peaceful ."
Such a lovely little beach hut could do with a small amount of maintenance and decoration throughout but on the hole it’s a lovely place to be Over looking the beach had a great time It gets a thumbs up
-
"Fantastic place in a great location."
Loved our stay! Hoping to book again.

"Brilliant little cottage, very peaceful and relaxing."
Had a great restful holiday, highly recommend for a quiet holiday. Food at freshwater Inn excellent.

"A number of things, the location and view from the deck is great."
The bathroom is in serious need of updating, the shower is poor. The decking seems half finished and is a trip hazard, round the back of the property looks awful, rotten siding. So that's the negative, the living room and kitchen are good, the main decking overlooking the beach is great, the bedroom, we only used the main one, is fine. So, great location, excellent paths down to the beach but this property needs to look next door to THE NOOK, that's what the owner needs to do, upgrade it! Having said that we had a good holiday BUT, sort this place out!

"Fabulous stay , property and location perfect, only problem being we can't book ..."
Fabulous stay , property and location perfect, only problem being we can't book in again as it's fully booked but will keep trying

"A comfortable and spacious cottage with superb views over Freshwater East beach and bay in all directions."
Very well equipped kitchen. We appreciated the good indoor lighting for the dark evenings at this time of year. Also the wood burning stove. There was no EE mobile coverage but good WIFI and a landline for our use (with an honesty box) which was reassuring.

"Beautiful spot, breathtaking views."
Ir was great to wake up and see the beach! Beach itself is just 2 min walk down the sand dune. We celebrated Christmas there, and the owner was kind and decorated the place and set up a Christmas tree :)

"We had a wonderful time at Beach Cove."
So cosy with beautiful views. Well equipped cottage with everything you would need for your stay. Five minute walk down onto the beach, perfect for our dogs and us, we even went in for a cold water dip invigorating. Thank you for sharing your cottage, it is an amazing place in an amazing location. Cannot wait for our next visit xx

"Straightforward booking, easy to navigate site, comprehensive and accurate description of property."
We have stayed here 3 times now and love it - Beach Cove is the perfect holiday cottage for us, the view from the balcony is fabulous, watching gannets diving into the sea whilst sipping wine in the sun! Short walk down to the beach to exercise the dogs each morning before heading out for the day and then back to the balcony and people and dog watching on the beach whilst listening to the sound of the sea - bliss! Hope to book again for next year.
-
"What an amazing location."
Stunning view. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. We only had one request though - to provide comfortable outdoor seating (we would have brought something if we'd known). The weather was mostly great and would have loved to sit outside more, but the bench table a little hard to sit at and relax. Loved the wildlife too - especially the rabbits, so cute.
-
"A simply outstanding property with great sea views and beach walks."
Ideal for visiting Pembrokeshire with friends or family.
-
"A fantastic week at Beach Cove watching the ever changing sea, sky and beach."
Views from inside the property and from the balcony are superb. The property is well equipped, especially the kitchen, (although more small bowls would be a helpful addition). It is evidently a well-loved place, and it was marvellous to be able to stay there. Good walks in both directions directly from the house, and only short drives to walks further afield. The struts of the balcony need some attention, as two were not in place, and two othere were loose. We would definitely book again if the property is going to be available in 2023.

"Fantastic week at Beach Cove, and what a Gem of a place this is."
Lovely views overlooking the beach from the Living area, Balcony and Main Bedroom. Situated in a peaceful idyllic spot, taking in the views of Freshwater East. Accommodation lovely and clean, well equipped with everything you need for a week away. Plenty of great walks and Coastal path walks on your doorstep. We had fantastic Weather during our stay, wall to wall Sunshine all Week, which made our stay even better. Would definitely recommend Beach Cove absolutely outstanding. Will definitely be back in the near future. Thank you David for such a lovely Holiday.

"We had a great holiday at Beach Cove The views were amazing from the verandah ..."
We had a great holiday at Beach Cove The views were amazing from the verandah The only thing that would improve it would be to have a gate on the verandah to keep our dogs safe The cottage was lovely & cosy and had everything you needed Lovely to be in walking distance to the beach We hope to book again soon

"My 2nd stay at Beach Cove and you can't beat the location or the facilities."
The view is to die for, the cabin is very comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cater for meals. Evenings in front of the fireplace listening the waves down on the shore is just so restful. It is a short walk to the car to carry stuff up and down, but as other reviewers have mentioned, putting everything in Ikea type bags make for an easy journey.

"Absolutely magical."
Only downside is parking which is a little away from the property and steep. Just not overly suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. However would love to return and pack lightly. Thank you so much for a lovely Christmas by the sea.
-
"The views of the bay from this property are absolutely amazing ."
My 2nd visit and I will definitely go back for a 3rd.

"I had a big problem that could have been easily rectified by calling skyes holidays which I did."
I was shrugged off completely. The most frustrating part was the advisor kept leaving me on hold to talk with her supervisor but when I asked to speak with the supervisor direct I was told she’s far too busy. That’s not reassuring. I was promised a call back but never received one. I suffered great anxiety for the remainder of my stay. Skyes cottages you should be so ashamed of your customer relations!!!! I hope never ever to book with you again. You take peoples money and don’t dive a shot what happens afterwards. It would be nice if someone that knew their job would call me back.

"We love Beach Cove."
We have been staying there for several years. After the disappointment of having to cancel our week last year, it was great to return and find everything unchanged at Freshwater East. We hope we will be able to return there again in the future.

"This is a wonderful basic beach cottage like the ones my husband and his family enjoyed in the 1950s when they lived in Pembroke Dock."
But with more modern fixtures of course!! Still, it has a rustic charm that lets you be comfortable and cosy with huge floor to ceiling windows that overlook Fresh East beach, and the headlands left and right. Plus, a large deck with plenty of room for eating on the picnic table or using the comfy chairs to just relax and catch some rays. There are two fridges even though it is a small cottage which helps a lot. Plenty of pantry space to put away your groceries, and a modern oven and induction hob. You don't mind cooking as the kitchen area has its own huge picture window, too! The main bedroom has another picture window and even with the windows shut, if all is quiet in the cottage, you can still hear the surf. Heaven. The other bedrooms are twee, but perfect for children if you bring any. My only advice is not to bring suitcases that trolley along as you have to park at the top of the property and walk down a grassy slope. Use IKEA sized bags for clothes and your food and life will be much easier. Another suggestion is to get WhatsApp on your phone so you can make calls and texts as there is no mobile coverage is this area, but the cottage has an excellent WiFi signal that goes anywhere in the house and out to the deck. We rarely left even though we had several sunny days, and then only to walk to Fresh West, Angle to East Blockhouse, and Bosherston, Lily Ponds-Broadhaven. Pembroke town has some lovely shops. Visit Jaberwocky for great local artisan gifts. Definitely visit the Dial Inn in Lamphey. New owners... we knew them as owners of another larger cottage we have visited before. The Dial is now as amazing, if not more so, than Stackpole Inn! We will be back... the family does a fantastic job and we have enjoyed Beach Cover over the last 20 years. We need to visit more often!

"TV didnt work correctly."
No signal was being received from the roof airiel.

"Great place but I think you need to make it much clearer about the access issues especially in the dark."
It isn’t accessible after dark, visibility is far too poor and the ground too uneven to carry anything down to the cottage safely. The weather was good when I was there but the last day rained a lot and the ground up towards the car was becoming very slippery and muddy, access issues need to be in the cottage details. However it is a wonderful place to stay and I would go back but wouldn’t look forward to carrying everything from the car down he track and grassy banks

The property
Just above the beach at Freshwater East in Pembrokeshire, this detached, timber clad beach house makes a great holiday destination.
The views over the bay are superb and the location second to none.
You can take the footpath to the beach and there’s a friendly pub in the village which serves good food.
There are plenty of coves and bays to explore in the area including; Swanlake Bay, Barafundle Bay and Manorbier beach just a little farther along the coast path.
Nearby are several towns worth exploring: Pembroke has a magnificent medieval castle, Tenby is a colourful town with a pretty harbour and 2 superb beaches and Saundersfoot also has a harbour and long sandy beach.
About the location
FRESHWATER EAST
Lamphey 2.5 miles; Pembroke 4.1 miles
Freshwater East offers golden sands and clear blue waters backed by green craggy countryside and sheltered rocky sections. The dunes behind the beach are a local nature reserve known as The Burrows. The village is situated to the south of Lamphey, on the south west of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. You will find a pub and a restaurant as well as plenty of accommodation. The Coast Path in either direction is a delight. Walk east to remote Swanlake Bay and on to Manorbier, or take a journey west to Stackpole Quay, then carry on to Barafundle Beach. Freshwater East has a history dating back to the Iron Age, with the remains of a fort at East Cliff. During the Victorian period it was part of a busy social scene and very popular for outings and picnics. Lamphey is situated just 2 miles away and offers a small shop, a traditional pub and two restaurants, as well as Lamphey railway station on the Pembroke Dock branch running services along the West Wales Line. There are many watersports to take up in the area including; sailing, canoeing, surfing and water skiing, or you can simply relax on the beach and play ball games. With its elevated position, overlooking the bay, this wonderful destination draws visitors from all over. Pembroke is a medieval walled town about 4 miles north, with a magnificent castle, shops and tea rooms. A destination not to be missed!
Note: Please bring own beach towels and cot linen.
Note: An uneven grass track leads to the beach house and we suggest you bring a torch for dark nights.
Note: Two well behaved dogs are welcome (additional charge applies).
Note: Garden not enclosed.
Guests are welcome to bring their own fuel for the woodburner or buy local. However, the owner has netted log bundles at the property that can be purchased. (Details to be supplied after final booking payment).
