  • "We loved our stay."

Martin and Lavinia were wonderful hosts who made sure our girls had hands-on experiences with the animals, of which there were some truly loveable characters. Alpacas, goats, donkeys, horses, chickens, pigeons and the adorable family dog. The cottage was well equipped and well positioned to visit so many gorgeous spots along the coastline. Pembrokeshire never fails to disappoint. We’d love to visit again one day. Don’t flick past this one!

  • "Martin and Lavinia are very welcoming and friendly people."

We had a great experience with the animals especially the 2 baby Alpacas born while we were there. Martin was eager for us to see the babies and was very knowledgeable about all the animals. Its just a pity we were out when they were born. Russel the crow also likes to be stroked which was interesting. Cwtch the farm dog also welcomed us every time we were going out and returning (but he liked his treats) If the night sky is clear you can reach out and touch the stars, beautiful to see. All in all with the Alpacas, Angora goats, Horses, donkeys, Chickens, Cwtch Russel the crow and our hosts Martin and Lavinia we had a very peaceful and relaxing holiday. Phil and Lynn.

Hi Phil and Lynn, We are so glad you enjoyed your break. The night sky is amazing here as we have no light pollution. Thank you so much for leaving the animals some apples, carrots and treats for Cwtch, who really enjoyed them. Kind regards Martin and Lavinia Property Owner

Lavinia and Martin (and Cwtch!!) were the best hosts - a lovely, peaceful location and lots of wonderful animals on the farm to meet. Great spot to reach lots of local places and attractions. Comfortable, home-from- home cottage to come back to after a day out. We loved it so much we definitely want to go back - can’t recommend this place enough (and have been to anyone that will listen!!)

Hi Helen, We are so glad you felt comfortable at the cottage and you enjoyed the area, we really are lucky as Pembrokeshire has some wonderful spots and you certainly picked a lovely week to explore it. It would be lovely to see you both again and I know the horses will love to see you both after their delicious carrot treats. Fibre wishes Lavinia x Property Owner

We were made very welcome by the Bourne family. Our grandson had a wonderful time helping with the animals and he really enjoyed his first experience of fishing. The hilight of the week was the arrival of Bertie the baby Alpaca. We can highly recommend a peaceful holiday here.

So glad you had a lovely week and how lovely for your grandson to catch his first fish with his grandad on our lake. Kind regards Lavinia Property Owner

  • "The property was very comfortable and we hugely enjoyed our stay which was made even more special by the fantastic hosts."

Martin and Lavinia went out of their way to ensure that this holiday was an unforgettable one for our two children, they loved meeting all of the animals and getting to be mini farmers for the week. Pembrokeshire itself is beautiful and we made sure we got out every day to explore our surroundings but were always pleased to be welcomed back each afternoon by Cwtch the trusty farm dog. I cannot recommend a stay at Saddlers Cottage any more highly and I'm sure we will return in the not too distant future to continue our son's farm training as he so wonderfully put it. Thank you, thank you, thank you all.

Thank you for your kind words, Josh! We look forward to seeing our two trainee farmers next year, I’ll make sure I’ve plenty of farm jobs ready. Speedy the duck,is still quakers that he was the farm favourite for a week. Fibre wishes Lavinia Property Owner

It has a real working farm atmosphere and is very peaceful, particularly at night. A very enjoyable holiday with plenty to see and do within a reasonable distance.

  • "Well what can I say about this charming property out in the middle of vast open countryside where you will forget all your troubles from your busy lives and get back to nature your woes will disappear and you find inner peace and tranquility."

We have booked again for next year if that doesn't say that we enjoyed our holiday I don't know what will so for all you that are in doubt please keep reading. When you turn from the main road you meanded down a long country road then you will see the turning for the farm going down their drive you will be greated with grass growing in the middle of it, then you go over the railway bridge and get to the farm. Once you have driven over the cattle gate you can hear the faint barking of cwtch the dog who will great you upon arrival at the cottage closely followed by either Lavaina or Martin the hosts for your holiday. Also you will be meet by Russell the crow he does peck your ankles but don't be alarmed he is friendly he likes to be stroked under his chin or the top of his head. (cwtch and Russell do get jealous of each other) We were meet by Martin who showed us around the cottage and as we arrived late said that he would show us the rest of the farm in the morning. You can buy freshly laid eggs from his daughter (teggs eggs) , the eggs are so tasty and one day I got a double yoker (get in....) the next day we meet Lavinia who is the most friendlyist host I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. (sorry Martin you come second) they both showed us around the farm we meet the alpacas (male and female) , angora goats, donkeys, horses and a duck. Then we're shown the fishing ponds. You also get to feed the alpacas and goats. If the goats are in the field they will follow you down to the pond. The female alpacas aren't as bostrus as the males, they are truly beautiful creatures. The goats are really friendly and some like a scratch behind their ears. We also had the opportunity to walk two of the younger alpacas and as there we three of us one of us took shadow who is a very friendly goat for a walk which was an experience. Lavaina has a workshop where she makes products from the alpaca fibres and angoera goats wool. She is a really talented lady (you can buy the products she makes) I brought quite a lot as you can't get that quality anywhere. I had the most amazing experience of bottle feeding bramble the baby alpaca not once but twice so a wonderful feeling. We came to the farm as strangers and left as friends.

Well, I’m speechless!! What wonderful feedback!! I’m so glad you had an amazing holiday and I too really enjoyed your enthusiasm and look forward to spending time with you next year. I am already working out a programme of new crafts we can do. In the meantime don’t forget to follow us on @saddlerscottage on facebook Fibre hugs Lavinia x Property Owner

The farm dog Cwtch and Russell the crow introduced themselves. The area around the lake was extremely peaceful. There were several attractions within easy reach including Folly Farm and Saundersfoot. Martin and Lavinia are such nice people who are so welcoming and accommodating. My 3 young children just loved “helping” out on the farm. Every day they were desperate to go see what the “farmer” wanted them to do. Martin and Lavinia were always happy to see them and set them to task. My 3 year old hasn’t stopped telling people all about his farmer friends! Special mention of course for Cwtch the farm dog, whenever we drove down the lane we all hung out the windows to see who was first to spot him running to greet us. All the animals are great, it really is such a nice little farm. The cottage itself is also very lovely, everything you need is there. We had decent weather so visited 3 different beaches all within around 40 min drive away. Folly farm with its zoo and funfair is great if you have children and only 25 mins away. I literally cannot recommend a holiday here enough. We will definitely be returning. See you soon, Nicola, Lewis, Oscar, Theo and Rhia xx

For us it was perfect to get away and the location was so quiet, even with thr train track close by (you couldn't really hear the trains inside the cottage). The animals are adorable, especially cwtsh the dog who lived up to his name (hug in Welsh). The owners are lovely and on hand to help if needed and are always happy to show you around the farm and feed the animals.

We have two girls ages 8 and 4 who thoroughly enjoyed their time here. The property itself is lovely, well appointed, has everything you need and the animals are also amazing (especially Cwtch the dog) but by far the biggest attribute are the family who run it. Very kind and down to earth people who were very happy to let our children be involved in the farm as much or as little as they liked, even when their help may have made things take a little longer. The girls had an amazing time and both said afterwards that their favourite part of the holiday (even above the local theme park) was feeding the animals. The local area has loads of things to do and it really is a great base for exploring too. Thanks Lavinia and Martin for a brilliant stay :-)

Thank you so much for your kind words . Martin and I are so glad you all enjoyed your stay at Saddlers Cottage. We enjoyed watching the girls enjoy the animals and that they wanted to help on the farm, even the mucky bits as it’s not often we get volunteers to help clean animal mess, but always welcome. The thing that stands this cottage out over and above everywhere else we have ever stayed is the animals, especially Cwtch the dog and the owners. I had noticed this had a small fishing lake which was of special interest to my son & husband. They spent many many hours down there fishing and enjoyed the sounds and calmness of this part of Wales. The owners are the most lovely people who exudes a warmth towards you like friends rather than landlords. They are both highly skilled interesting people with a passion for animals and living a calm, wholesome and relaxed life. I could stand and talk to either of them for hours. We loved the freedom that we were allowed to pet the animals, fish and enjoy the surroundings. Away from the cottage, this is superbly located for all areas of South Wales being around 45 mins from most places. We especially loved Carew Castle for the dam wall crabbing, St Govans Chapel near Bosherton (a interesting hike through a live firing range and then a climb down the cliffs) and Saundersfoot (fishing for mackeral off the harbour wall). If only I hadn't already booked a holiday for next Spring then we would be back here like a shot. We'll see you again soon x

  • "Although we are farmers ourselves it was a bit disappointing to find the cottage right in the midst of the farm buildings as from the pictures it looked like it was on the outer side of the farm, as such there were no views from the cottage itself."

On arrival there was horse droppings and dog mess on the parking area. The owner noticed this and commented on it but sadly it was still there on the day we left a week later! One or two cups had been put away dirty ( which the owner was horrified by when it was brought to their attention) and a good hoover under beds and behind headboards to remove dead flies and cobwebs wouldn`t go amiss. On the plus side the cottage is situated in beautiful countryside, the town of Narberth is a lovely little bustling town with plenty of good places for a tasty lunch and Tenby, Saundersfoot, St. Davids etc are within easy reach and Barafundle Bay at Stackpole is a real gem of a beach. Just a pity the cottage was a let down.

I am so sorry you were disappointed with the cottage on our fibre farm and our free roaming animals ( both points are on the property listing). Nonetheless, my husband and I work our farm by ourselves and there is no excuse for poor workmanship, I did immediately deal with the micro dirt of less than half cm on the one cup and now I am aware of the other points I have reprimanded my husband as he is in charge of the hoovering and farm yard poop picking. Very friendly animals, you feel part of the farm. House has everything you need for your stay. Have a few bruises as it’s a tight fit round the furniture and the style of house has lower ceilings. Only other slight negatives would be the tv switches itself off occasionally and the blind in the downstairs toilet is loose and easily mistaken as a light pull so you pull it down. It’s a bit dusty but you are in the middle of fields. The house is well equipped, the hosts even leave you dishwasher tablets and other kitchen cleaning supplies. We bought some eggs from them which were delicious. The location is tucked away and be prepared for close brushes with other vehicles as most roads are single lane but most people are courteous and friendly. Despite location you are 15-20 mins from Oakwood, Folly Farm and other attractions. Tenby is only 30 mins and there is a shop and pub 5 mins away. Would definitely stay again, didn’t feel like you were intruding on the family who also live on the farm. Perfect if you love goats, dogs, horses & donkeys. Even the cockerel came to say good morning!

We went for a chill-out week and weren't disappointed. The cottage was warm and comfortable and we were lucky enough to arrive at the beginning of the hottest February week on record. It is situated perfectly for visiting the many places of interest in the surrounding area and the coastline is something not to be missed. Martin is very knowledgeable about the area and is always willing to advise.I would highly recommend Sadler's for couples and families alike and young children would find the animals fascinating. HOT TIP: take some dog treats for Buwch and you will have a friend for life..........

Nothing has changed since our last visit. The location is absolutely perfect for access to all of Pembrokeshire. There are plenty eating and drinking establishments within a short drive and the A40 is within ten minutes from the farm. Martin and Lavinia are ideal hosts and will do all they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The farm is delightful and open for exploring. Altogether a satisfying and delightful experience.
