  • "Really lovely cottage."

Very clean, very comfortable, very roomy and warm and centrally placed to explore the local area.

  • "Builth House was beautiful and exactly as described."

The kitchen had everything we needed (except a garlic press) and our two chef's found it most enjoyable cooking there. The bedrooms were roomy with plenty of wardrobe space (and hangers) beds and bedding all super clean and comfy. The whole place was spotless and the living/dining room perfect for four adults to eat, watch TV, play cards or just sit and relax. The garden would have been the perfect sun trap and terrace had it not rained ALL week. It was perfect for our two cocker spaniels who could go outside safely with the front gates securely closed they also "enjoyed" their dirty paw wash downs using the wall mounted hose or "Dog Station" as we called it. A really lovey stay - we would definitely return. Thank you.

  • "Lovely property."

Well equipped and very clean and well presented. Fabulous area. We did several walks along the canal. Crickhowell is a lovely place and definitely worth a visit. We had a wonderful week here.

  • "We had a great stay at Builth house."

The cottage was comfy, clean and had everything we needed. Nice garden for four legged family members and a sunny patio area. The cottage is well located, shop, pub and chip shop literally on the door step and the canal is just up the road. We had several lovely walks along the towpath. This is our second visit to Gilwern and we will definitely come back.

Thank you for lovely review Jacqueline. We look forward to you returning soon Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay, beautiful cottage and great location for exploring."

The photos on the site don't do the accommodation justice. The steps are quite steep within the property and outside and the bedrooms have steps directly at the doors so my elderly father struggled a little, obviously not a criticism just might be worth pointing out. Would highly recommend and will be looking to rebook at some point

Thank you for your 5* review Rachel. We are sorry that your father struggled with the stairs in the property. The description of the cottage does say there are steps throughout the property, downstairs and upstairs, as well as leading into the garden so we hope that other potential guests will read your comment and take it on board before booking with elderly family members. We look forward to your return visit Property Owner

  • "The cottage was beautiful and very well equipped, great location with the ability to walk everywhere."

My only recommendation is that the rules surrounding dogs should be published as part of the listing so people are aware dogs are not allowed upstairs etc.

  • "Very nice spacious clean cottage in great location."

Good WiFi with smart TV without freeview. Shower perfect with good pressure. Parking excellent, with lovely safe enclosed garden for dogs. Listing mentions garden furniture which was absent, would be great for hot summer evenings. Also bin collection instructions out of date and bin area outside was full of uncollected rubbish from previous customers and not been cleaned for a while. Overall had a great stay, recommend definitely. Roman

We're sorry to hear about the few issues you had. We had garden furniture on order and it's now in situ. And apologies about the bin store. The local council have a new policy since April and we haven't updated the instructions. We shall certainly clean the bin store more regularly. Thank you for letting us know Property Owner

  • "This is one British holiday home I would certainly book again."

Why? First they accept dogs. There is good secure parking. It was very clean and comfortable. The shower was excellent. I didn't expect extras but it was nice to have tea, sugar coffee, dish washer tablets. I forgot to tell them that there was no washing basket and pegs but it was no big deal. It was good to find all matching cutlery and crockery. Some places I visit look as though they were equipped with stuff thrown out of the hosts house-not so in Builth House. Decor and furnishings are quality too. Book without hesitation.

Thank you so much for your kind review. We shall make sure that we get pegs and a washing basket in time for your next visit! Property Owner

Really happy with the house very clean and well presented in a nice area two very slight problems which would not stop us returning were the internet only worked in the evening And the step out of the bedroom was very creaky and could wake other guests if for example getting up to use the toilet at night but I must say these are very minor issues and we loved our stay there the pub across the road is very nice and the canal is only a few hundred yards away with lovely walks

Thank you for your feedback. We will check the internet so thanks for letting us know. And we shall see if we can remedy the creaky step for your next visit Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, pubs and shops nearby."

There is a canal just up the hill which provides a nice area for a walk, perfect if you bring your dog. The cottage is a good base to explore other areas, we only had a short stay but we drove to Abergavenny and Crickhowell. Highly recommend, also an enclosed garden to the rear, perfect if you have a dog or just to relax.
