  • "A nice converted barn that could be nicer , Interior furniture is dated and tv a bit small for what is quite a large lounge."

Didn't effect us but no blinds on roof windows in second bedroom. Garden furniture is also in need of replacing as weather worn, garden is smaller than it appears in the pictures. Otherwise a nice place that could do with an update on a working farm in a good location for the area.

The property

This characterful cottage is located near the town of Abergavenny, with views across to the Blorenge Mountain and a direct footpath from the rear, bringing you up onto Sugar Loaf.

Situated on the owner’s grounds with a neighbouring working farm and an enclosed garden, The Barn is a wonderful place to stay whatever the time of year.

Upon entering, you will discover the open-plan living area; one side houses a lounge with a leather sofa and a collection of arm chairs, sitting adjacent to an electric fire.

To the other side of the room, a dining table is set up for four people, somewhere comfortable for the family to gather after an adventure filled afternoon.

With the addition of Sky TV, and a Nintendo Wii, you will be kept occupied for hours.

Upstairs in the cottage, there are two bedrooms; a charming twin room, and a double bed, which looks out over rural views, a natural backdrop to wake up to.

Start your mornings by getting ready in the lovely bathroom, then wander down to the kitchen, for those delicious refreshments or a warm cup of tea.

Large windows accompany the ground floor, so you can be at one with the location, wherever you choose to go about your day - even better, a large 'barn door' gives access to the rear garden which benefits from a patio and seating area.

A prime local area for walking and close to a pub.

Nestling between the seven mountains, with the River Usk flowing through the centre, Abergavenny boasts a castle with its own museum, churches, an indoor market hall, good shops and a multitude of pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as hosting the annual food festival, as well as taking a visit to the book town of Hay on Wye.

Beautiful walks through the Wye Valley and Vale of Usk, or along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal are close by, with Crickhowell, not forgetting the breath-taking Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons) and Black Mountains.

A getaway not to be missed.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
