  • "Hawthorn House was a lovely house & conveniently located to the towns amenities & to visit various places."

The garden was fantastic for the dogs, long & secure. Kitchen well equipped. Bed in the backroom bedroom comfortable. Only one issue was the shower dripping continually, when bathroom door shut didn't hear it but wasting water. Had a lovely stay

  • "Where to begin?"

Hawthorn House is beautiful. The Garden is beautiful. Dogs ran around safely in the Garden with no concerns they may escape. The Garden also has a handy Picnic Table which we took full advantage of for eating at and playing board games on in the lovely sun as the Dogs languished or played on the lawn. The Hallway that greets you has a marvellous floor, leads through to the spacious Kitchen, whose window looks out onto the Garden. Kitchen has brilliant facilities and plenty of counter space. Small WC just before the Kitchen was very handy. Nice back door leading to the Garden, handy night light placed outside was very handy when the Dogs needed to be let out at night. Lounge is awesome, bijou, two lovely Sofas, nice large TV , cute fireplace with lovely mantle above it. Dining room is lovely and big, nice large dining table, fantastic not just for eating at but playing board games on too. Upstairs is great. Nice staircase leads to directly opposite a small and handy utility room with a stunning view out of its window. Next to the utility room is the main bathroom, lovely sized bath with an awesome anti slip mat that was really appreciated. Nice sized main bathroom. Hallway leads to the three bedrooms. Again, a great view from the master bedroom window. The other two bedrooms overlook Lower Lamphrey Road below. Beds wear made well, fresh linen , loads of towels supplied. Parking at Hawthorne House is great , the neighbours were extremely courteous, keeping the space outside Hawthorn House clear. As for the location of Hawthorn House, the town of Pembroke is literally at the end of the road. A handy One Stop shop for things you may need quickly was just off the roundabout. Aldi is a short car drive away. Freshwater Beach is about three miles away and is the other end of Lower Lamphery Road turn right and you’re more or less there, beach is Dog Friendly too, all of it. To sum up, Hawthorn House is a beautiful, comfortable, quiet place with a lovely Garden, lovely Neighbours, especially Rory the Cat, ideally placed. Tenby 10 miles away, Haverfordwest 11 miles away, Picton Castle about 7 miles away and Freshwater Beach about 3 miles away. Brilliant, beautiful home. Kelly is incredibly helpful and easy to reach should you need any questions answered. Her welcome pack is well thought out, easy to follow and very helpful. Thank you so much. We can’t wait to return.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Hawthorn House."

It was a very comfortable house with some lovely original features that gave it character too. The location was ideal with a few minutes walk to local shops and pubs. Parking was not a problem and the garden was a super bonus for Rufus our Cockapoo. Pembroke was a very friendly town from shopkeepers, bar staff, Castle guides and chip shop owners!

  • "Thank you for a wonderful stay."

We found the house cosy and welcoming with plenty to keep us warm and entertained. Hawthorn House was a welcome respite during two weeks visiting family in a local care home. The only things I would have wished for were a few more kitchen items like basic herbs, and milk to go with the tea bags you kindly provided. Many thanks for a lovely stay.

Comfy beds and plenty of hot water. Great, enclosed back garden - shame the weather didn't allow us to make full use of it! We also appreciated the milk, bread and cereals kindly left for us. The only slight drawback is the upstairs layout. There are 5 stairs down and 3 back up between the bedrooms and the bathroom. My 85-year-old mother found these a problem at night but they wouldn't be an issue for a family. Mum was very glad of the downstairs toilet in the daytime!

It could actually sleep 7 . The beds were comfortable. Unfortunately the sofas were so low down we had difficulty getting in and out of them. For that reason alone we wouldn’t use the house again. The biggest plus was the garden. Completely secure for the dogs. The owners are great and very helpful.

We had a wonderful stay and were very happy with the facilities and how clean the house was. Only negative is that the bottom toilet seat seemed wobbly and also felt a bit overlooked by the neighbours when in the garden maybe a wicker fence for a bit more privacy apart from that it is absolutely lovely and we were very sad to leave. I want to revisit in June but sadly the price is too high

However, the house itself could have been a lot cleaner and, as previous reviews have highlighted, there was lots of damp in the bathoom and kitchen. Very comfortable beds and the kitchen looked like it had recently been updated with new good and a nice big fridge and freezor.

Thankyou for your feedback the kitchen damp was not a simple fix but we have found a damaged pipe under the floor. This has now been fixed and the property has been given a deep clean. Property Owner

had to buy scented candles to help with the smell, a good airing helped , but definitely an issue. beds were comfy , downstairs toilet had no sink in there, which was strange.

  • "Based on previous reviews we knew what to expect but hoped that some of the complaints would have been dealt with."

Unfortunately not. Please arrange for the bathroom window to be made to open, it is currently painted shut and the fan is not sufficient to extract the steam making the bathroom constantly damp. Please provide a bread knife in the kitchen. The fire in the front room does not work. It could be that the batteries in the remote are dead? Nearly everything squeaks so a good dose of wd40 is needed on door hinges etc. On the plus points the beds were comfy, the house was clean and well stocked and provided a good base to explore Pembrokeshire.

It would of been nice to have some sheets so we could of used them as a cooler option if we chose to use them. There were no sheets to make up the camp bed. There is a big trip hazard in the garden with a concrete lintel in the paving 3 of us tripped on it and my husband bruised his toe. The furniture is old and very rickety especial the dinning room table and chairs and the dressing room chair in the back bedroom. The kitchen was well equipped and the house is in a really good location with lovely neighbours.

  • "The house is quite damp, it was good weather for the beginning of the week, the house smells a bit musty, our towels, clothes etc felt a bit damp."

The bathroom window doesn't open which probably adds to the problem, there needs to be more seating in the living room and the TV randomly makes a loud buzzing noise, you need to switch it off and on again to fix this issue. The crockery and the cutlery was dirty when we arrived. It has been freshly decorated which looked good. We were happy with the price of it. The garden and house size itself is great, just needs the damp problem sorting out, or maybe a few dehumidifiers placed around the house. Overall we enjoyed our stay, apart from these minor issues. We would probably stay again if the damp problem was addressed or dehumidifiers placed.

  • "It was disappointing to hear that a red wine spillage caused so much consternation from the owner."

My 9 year old daughter inadvertently spilled my glass of wine which I had taken upstairs. I washed the sheet and cleaned up the spillage however some remained on the quilt and pillow case. I put a message in the visitors book and apologised. However I received a call to advise the owner had made a complaint. I understand the inconvenience however, surely it can be a potential for spillages to happen. We cleaned and hoovered the cottage before we left and treated the property with respect and consideration . It might be a good idea to have a dishwasher also. We paid just under £1000. For a week which is a substantial fee. Parking was also challenging . However lovely stay, very friendly neighbour who gave us tips on where best to go.
