  • "Overall a very pleasant stay, and the outdoor activities (foot golf, swimming pool, tennis, badminton were fantastic."

A couple of little maintenance items we'd raise: 1. the mattress in the bedroom with the ensuite was not very comfortable, probably coming to the end of its useful life. 2. Oven on one side of the unit didn't work (although other side worked fine). Gareth was very helpful during our stay, and the kids had a great time.

  • "We have just returned from a week at rafters cottage."

I must admit I'm glad to be back in my own house. Myself, my fiance and our 4 year old stayed in the end bedroom. The first night was horrendous... we spent the first part removing all the giant spiders from the house. By the time we went to bed we'd realised the room had a terrible mold issue: black mould growing up the walls, beside the bed and the mattresses (which belonged in the 90's) were also covered in mold. We got no sleep and my chest got bad. I felt so angry that our 4 year old had to sleep on a moldy mattress in a moldy room. The owners did change the mattresses and wiped down the mold, and they refunded us £100. Unfortunately all this happened after a not-too-pleasant discussion with one of the owners who told us our standards were too high and we should just drive home immediately if we didn't like the cottage! Nice. After the mold issue we had an ok stay. The mold smell was in the cottage all week and there was more mold growing in the sitting room. The kids favourite game was to catch the numerous woodlice that shared the cottage with us. I get that it's an old property but I shan't be apologising for having 'standards' when we paid over a grand to stay there. The outside facilities were great, great location with the nature reserve. Obviously we wouldn't return.

  • "We rented out Rafters Cottage as two families , we were very impressed with the cottage and site ."

The cottage had everything we needed , it was clean and comfortable, we did find the beds a little uncomfortable with the matresses but this wouldnt put us off another holiday there . Rosemary and Gareth were friendly and very helpful, our first afternoon we complained about bedroom light in childrens room , Gareth came asap to fix it. The facialities were great and really suited our 8,7&4 year olds. I loved the small touches in swimming pool with armbands, noodles and balls to use in pool. One thing would improve pool a toilet but its not a major problem . The children loved the new wendy house, climbing wall and slides it was a bonus as not advertised at booking time. The games room was great and used lots by us , we enjoyed the fact we were next door to the country park too. Will definatally return with our dog one year . Thankyou Rosemary and Gareth we loved our stay.
