  • "Very well equipped large kitchen."

3 televisions a bonus. Comfortable large beds. Unfortunately as mentioned by a previous visitor, the damp/ earthy smell in dining room meant we ate in the kitchen.

  • "Pre-arrival instructions regarding the recycling came across as rather strict and does not set the tone for a relaxing stay."

On arrival at the house it was clear that there was a servere damp issue in the hallway. Overall, the house was dark, dated, and smelt of cigarette smoke throughout. There is a bird in an aviary next-door which calls out 24/7 which we found quite disturbing. Furthermore, the garden is split into two separate spaces which was not clearly explained on the advert. The house is well-equipped and there is plenty of space, however, the beds were terribly uncomfortable. The whole street experienced a power outage whilst we were there and although we appreciate this can't be helped but it was rather an inconvenience. On the day of departure, we left the house in an immaculate condition and even left a tip for the cleaners which we don't think they received as the owner was peering through the window before out departure time which made us feel incredibly uncomfortable. I would not recommend staying here.

  • "We loved staying here, it was the perfect location near a stunning beach."

The house was lovely and spacious, the beds super comfortable. It was warm and cosy. We enjoyed chilling in the kitchen mainly. The back garden was lovely to enjoy a morning coffee and listen to the birds singing. Be sure to take cash if you want a local takeaway. The biggest criticism is the next doors reactive dogs that seemed to have constant access to the garden. This made it miserable at times if you wanted to sit outside. On the times that I managed to sneak out it was lovely. If you have a reactive dog this will be a problem as there are holes in the wall. A hoover and mop would have been helpful as the kitchen would be covered in sands from the dogs and I had to get on my hands and knees to clean which was effort. I would recommend this property, the only reason I wouldn’t return is because of the reactivity of the neighbours dogs. There isn’t much anyone can do about that!

  • "I had a super stay in Ty’r Ystrad."

In fact, I enjoyed the first week so much that I added a second while I was there since the cottage wasn’t booked. The house is superbly positioned. I don’t drive and that wasn’t a problem at all from a practical perspective, with a large Coop/local shops and bus stops within an 5 minute walk and a train station nearby. Also several takeaways though I didn’t try these. Time for Tea does very nice coffee though. Also Parc y Box (the farm shop). Kidwelly is an interesting place in its own right and there are great walks (albeit some rather muddy in March!) on the doorstep but it’s also pretty easy (and quick) to reach other attractions if you check out public transport. Camarthen is great, while Pembury Park/Beach and Cefn Sidn Sands are simply gorgeous. I also recommend the coastal walk, Burry Port to/from Llanelli which is very easy/flat, not muddy, and has lovely views. Either way, the house has an excellent collection of local interest books and leaflets to help you decide what to do and understand the local history. These were much appreciated. The house is also very well equipped (particularly the kitchen) and comfortable. I really enjoyed the quiet in contrast to London. And the view from the loo is excellent! Ed the owner is exceptionally easy to contact and friendly/quick to respond to any queries and this was also much appreciated. I’m now checking the availability calendar so I can rebook using the voucher from Sykes. Thank you, Sykes!

The TV in the lounge needs replacing as the sound was terrible; the volume needed to be high to hear conversation but any sound effects were so loud we ended up watching with subtitles. Apart from that everything was fine and a minor problem with the fridge was dealt with quickly and efficiently.

The only criticism I have is when we sat in the garden nextdoor's 2 dogs went berserk and we had to retreat back into the house, the problem was that there are stone blocks built into the wall with a hole pattern and the dogs could see when we were in the garden if these were covered or replaced it would be a whole lot better that was the only problem I had with the house, but still enjoyed holiday and would return if the wall problem was solved

The kids went horse riding there, they enjoyed the play area and the miniature railway. Lovely place for a picnic, either on the beach or the lovely country garden setting. Kidwelly itself was nice but quiet, we loved the castle, some nice little quirky eating places.
