  • "Nice, spacious, usable space both for us and the dog!"

Pleasant secure garden, big rooms, and convenient for Pembroke. Only downside is proximity to the main road but the traffic noise didn't really intrude. Lovely friendly hosts living next door. Suited us very well overall and we will certainly be back!

  • "This was our second visit to Nash Lodge."

The house is spacious and well equipped with a lovely, large kitchen. The lounge is large enough for 5 adults,a one year old and dog to relax . The downstairs shower room and utility room are a nice feature too. We love the huge garden too. The owners are on hand and very helpful. There are plenty of wonderful beaches a short drive away. We will be returning.

  • "The property itself was absolutely lovely."

Really roomy and comfortable. The owners were really friendly and made the stay really comfortable, and were very quick to act on queries. The garden was lovely and big, with apples on the trees, our 2yo loved the chickens, and the tomatoes that the owners brought over were absolutely divine! Lots of storage and space for clothes, possessions etc. Very helpful also having two dining tables to allow a space for games/drawing separate to dinner. When booking it wasn’t clear at all that the property was on a main road. All three bedrooms face the main road which is a 60 road and has cars, trucks and tractors going past at all hours. Both noisy and a lot of flashing lights. It was a struggle for me and our 2 year old to fall asleep and stay asleep. The hot water tank is also very small, so while there’s a lovely large bath it takes over half an hour to fill as you have to fill it in thirds, waiting 10 mins for the water to heat up between each lot. The listing said it was an enclosed garden, however more than once the owners would be in the garden - one time with their own family members - with gates left open so we couldn’t allow our 2 year old in the garden to play without constant supervision in case she went into the owners garden. This, and the fact that all parking for the owners house was at the front of the property, meant that there was a bit of a lack of privacy as there would often be people looking in windows. There was also a washing machine which was incredibly helpful - however this was full of mould which transferred black stains onto some of our clothes and left a musty smell. Sadly didn’t have enough time to give this a thorough clean during our stay to help, but did mean we had to use a family member’s machine instead. Finally, the thermostat was under lock and key set at 16 degrees meaning the property was very chilly in the evenings with no way to easily change this. There was enough wood to light the fire for one night - you can purchase extra for £5 (presumably per night) but when a simple solution is allowing guests to turn heating up slightly this felt excessive, especially with the increase in dangerous air pollution from both the road and a wood burning fire. With a couple of small changes this could easily be a 5* property, but as it is I’d rate 3* overall, which was still a lovely stay - but I’m not sure we’d rush to return. That said the guest book was full of testimonials from people who return time and time again and love it, so clearly lots to love - just not quite for us.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, we are thrilled that you and your family enjoyed the amenities of our lovely cottage! We really appreciate your constructive comments and take all of your feedback on board and would like to take this opportunity to reply to some of the things you’ve mentioned. The description on the website very clearly states that the house is situated on the side of a road so it’s a real shame that you didn’t read this as it would have saved you the disappointment. During the time of your visit the weather fluctuated between bright sunshine and heavy rain and we really wanted the lawn to be freshly mowed for you and your family, so mowing it during your stay was the only chance we had to do it. As far as we remember, this was the only time that somebody was in the vicinity. Our visitors usually enjoy having the owners in close proximity as we are able to offer advice on local attractions and insider tips on the best places to go. The reason why you noticed the occasional car parked outside the property is because we sell our homemade jam and eggs and have an honesty box for payment which is very popular with the local community. We will reconsider the location of this to a less prominent position in light of your comments however. We offer a all of our guests a free large basket of logs on arrival (usually enough for more than one fire) and are very happy to replenish this for a small charge. This is noted clearly on the website description as well as on a card within the cottage. This is standard practise in rental properties. We pride ourselves on being very open and responsive hosts and try very hard to make our guests feel comfortable to request anything that makes their stay supremely comfortable. With the heating, we wish you’d have asked us to adjust, it really would not have been an issue. Thank you again for your review, the time you took to share your compliments and comments is very appreciated by us. Property Owner

  • "Very well appointed."

Everywhere was clean and comfortable and everything worked. The house was more spacious than I expected and the owner popped in to make sure we were comfotable and had found everything. Overall a very nice experience. Only improvement I could suggest is better lighting in the kitchen over the sink and brighter lighting in the lounge, we're getting old and our eyes are too. Great cottage will recommend.

  • "The house itself was lovely However it sits about 10ft from a busy road which is clearly used as a local cut through."

I am very disappointed that the listing did not make that clear. My friend who has been ill was due to join me, but given how much the road noise stopped me sleeping, I advised her not to come. I had earplugs and still got woken at 5.30 am each morning. Not good enough.
