"Lovely cottage great area."
Warm and cosy. We did have a couple of issues. The downstairs wet room lived up to its name, very WET. It does not drain properly so is very difficult and dangerous to walk on. Shower head just a dribble, kept falling off as well. Bath ran cold after about 10 inches. The hob could do with replacing, not working properly. We did enjoy rest of cottage. Had a lovely stay. No spare bulbs lamp bulb went.

"This is the second time we have stayed at this cottage and would stay again."
Which I guess speaks for itself. We have used it for a three generation vacation in order to bring our parents to an area that they took us vacationing as kids. You can’t beat the pembrokeshire coastline and arguably the stretch between Solva and St Justinians is one of the best. The ground floor level bedroom and bathroom addition allows us to bring our parents. Although we have not worked out a way to take them along the coast path yet!!

"The cottage was very good."
Hadn't realised that it faced another cottage directly opposite. This is not clear from the pictures of it and would probably put us off booking this property again. On the positive side it was spacious, with very good amenities, comfortable and ideally situated for exploring Solva, St Davids and close to many beaches and the the Coast Path. A couple of negative points. The WiFi did not work for the whole stay and mobile signal was weak to absent. The upstairs bathroom is very small and the sloping roof accentuates this meaning that anyone over 5ft 9 cannot stand up straight in front of the bathroom mirror, or comfortably use the over bath shower. Despite these minor points we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

"We would like to thank owner for everything , especially for precise travel directions and dealing quickly and helpfully with a problem ."
Also the cottage was immaculate .
-
"What a lovely cosy cottage, well equipped and liked all the oak furniture."
However, little things let it down like:: 1. The kitchen tap needed seeing to as it was spraying water everywhere. 2. Radiator in the upstairs bathroom was cold and couldn't get any heat out of it. 3. I know we have had a lot of rain lately, but the outside area was very muddy around by the area we were told to park our car.

"There were two of us staying at the property and we felt there was no way it could have been improved."
Extremely clean and very comfortable and warm. The design and character of the upstairs bathroom has a sloping roof but after you hit your head once you know how to avoid it again. Fantastic position to explore the coastal area.

"We had a very enjoyable stay at Maerdy Cwtch."
The cottage was very comfortable, warm and well-equipped, located in a quiet and beautiful area.

"2 minor observations."
My husband kept banging head on upstairs bathroom ceiling when going to toilet in night. He is only 5ft 7. perhaps something can be placed there for protection. Also, feathers came out of sofa cushions. I am allergic to these and chose cottage as no dogs. Apart from that the place was perfect and we would highly recommend!

"Our stay at the cottage was amazing."
The cottage itself is really lovely, a real home from home. We loved it. There was everything you could need, and the downstairs bedroom and wetroom were brilliant, and would really suit anyone with limited mobility. The location was perfect, lovely running route from the cottage itself and a good starting point for a bike ride to Little Haven and back. Nothing is too far away, St Davids and Whitesands Bay were great and not far away. Fabulous coastal walk from Solva, and a really nice pub there for dinner., The Cambrian Inn!!! wonderful break.

"Great property, couple of niggles though, kitchen area very hot due to boiler being there, turned boiler timer off,but under floor still on,cooker hood filthy dirty, large amount of flies, killed about 25 on Tues."
Evening, moved outside waste bins into garden, rest of cottage clean, huge garden, all holiday made better by fantastic weather, didn't realise there was another property close by,as not shown on photos.
-
"Top quality property."
The only improvement I would recommend is to have some sort of shelf or small cabinet in the upstairs bathroom - there was nowhere to put things down e.g. jewellery, watches... when taking a shower. Apart from that, the house was even better than the listing. Many thanks.

"Well maintained, comfy, warm, homely cottage."
All the facilities we needed were there. Wet room/ shower was really good. The only comment I would make is that the cottage is actually one of two cottages which stand about 30 feet apart. This isn't shown in the photo. This was only a problem for us on our last night when a group of people with 3 cars arrived at midnight and were shouting inside and outside and slamming car doors until 04:30 then setting off a car alarm. This is not a criticism of our cottage, just some inconsiderate neighbours. We had a great week and would happily book again if we holiday in Pembrokeshire again.

"Maerdy Cwtch is a quaint country cottage full of character and is perfectly situated close by to some stunning scenery."
The property is cosy and well furnished, with underfloor heating across the ground floor. Kitchen, dining area and living room space all generous in size. Bedrooms all a good size and a large wash-room with walk in shower area. It was perfect for our family of 4 and we couldn't have wished for anything more. It was amazing. We met the owner, William, who is a lovely gent who wanted to make sure everything was right with the cottage and also gave us some tips on places to go. Thank you so much for being a fantastic host!
-
"Lovely spacious property, beautifully converted with everything you need for a relaxing or active holiday."
Cosy and warm throughout during a winter break in February. Convenient for St Davids and Newgale beach (and plenty others). Thoroughly recommend.
-
"Excellent property, finished to a high spec."

"Lovely Cottage"
-
"A lovely cottage with excellent facilities."
Warm and cosy during the chilly weather with underfloor heating. Highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing break.
-
"As previous guests have shared, bath mats should be provided, especially given the slippery nature of the upstairs bathroom tiles."
Also, when we stripped the bed covers as requested, the duvets themselves are really tatty and should be replaced. Loved the cottage & location though and hope to return

"Lovely cottage."
Lovely area.
-
"A perfect cottage for a family of 5 - very clean, spacious and in a great location to explore."
Excellent for beaches, coastal walks, visits to pretty villages and harbours, and boat trips. A wonderful week - thank you!
-
"House was pleasant and a good size and we enjoyed our time here."
However, the listing needs to make clear that the upstairs shower and bath is far too small and only really suitable for contortionists! This meant people had to trail through downstairs bedroom to use shower there. This is fine if you are one family but if it were different couples it would not be the best. This shower was good but does not drain well and lots of time was spent mopping flooded floor. Toaster followed on from upstairs bathroom and was one of the smallest seen. Also a BBQ in the garden would be great. Small things but they cost little and would make the cottage better value for money. This could be such a fantastic home with a little more attention to detail.
-
"Really lovely, spacious property, very well equipped and very clean."
The cottage is nicely furnished and provides a high level of comfort. The setting is lovely and the house is ideally situated for enjoying the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline. The downstairs en suite bedroom was perfect for the needs of the disabled member of our party. The only down side for us was the upstairs bathroom which we rather struggled with. Two tall people found the sloping sloping ceiling a problem which meant they had to use the downstairs en-suite. For a family this would probably not be an issue but as four individuals it did present a bit of an inconvenience. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very lovely house and would certainly recommend it to others.

"A lovely clean comfortable cottage close to the sea and amazing walks ."
We loved our stay there .
-
"The cottage was really lovely ideal for us grand parents to share a holiday with our family ."
The ground floor bedroom and excellent bathroom gave us the best accommodation we have stayed in . The area outside was safe for our grandson to play with plenty of space for football and wonderful views .
-
"We struggled with the floor heating in the kitchen, it just didn’t want to turn down."
We mostly needed it though, because the weather wasn’t too brilliant. The Cwtch is a lovely cottage.
-
"Great place excellent facilities."
Would definitely stay there again
-
"Maerdy Cwtch was warm and comfortable - perfect for our winter holiday!"
A quiet spot with plenty of nearby beaches and beautiful scenery. We will be back!
-
"We had a fantastic stay at the cottage and really enjoyed our holiday."
Everything in the cottage was as described and the owners were very responsive.
-
"I left a note to the owner and trust he will correct, but need to mention it here as well just in case as its a matter of safety."
The stair gates were broken and there were plug sockets next to the two twin beds where our young children were sleeping with no safety covers on. This was a cause of massive anxiety about their safety. Apart from that the house was great and very clean and comfortable. But these were very serious oversights so I'd like any families to be aware they may need to take their own precautions.
-
"The house was really lovely, so much bigger than expected."
.made our week in Wales perfect along with the unusual sunny Welsh weather!
-
"We had a lovely stay in this peaceful location and the cottage was very well equipped."
Thank you.
-
"The first holiday with Sykes and so pleased at the result."
the cottage was fantastic for our first family holiday in a year after covid. ample space for us all and a well supplied kitchen the other cottage opposite is no bother at all we found. Only criticism the beds could be softer in the double rooms otherwise fantastic
-
"The cottage was almost perfect and offered great comfort and facilities."
It's location was also just right for us. The description and pictures do not show that there are two cottages opposite each other and very close. Our neighbours were quiet and considerate, but if they weren't it would have been a problem. As it was we had a great holiday.
-
"Maerdy Cwtch is a really lovely cottage, we'd certainly stay there again."
It's in a quiet location with stunning views. Well-equipped, comfortable cottage. A great base for exploring north Pembrokeshire.
-
"Excellent well kept and nicely presented cottage."
However the listing by Sykes is not accurate as it fails to tell you that there is another cottage on the same site and that they are only 4m apart at the closest point. As a result the the kitchen window looks right into the living room of Maerdy Lodge. The kitchen window also does not have a blind or curtains to close. Other than that a beautiful cosy which is only 45 mins walk down country roads into Solva.
-
"It might have been good to know how close together the two properties are."
It did not affect us but if you wanted a quiet stay and had noisy neighbours..... The only criticism we had was the need to be careful using the shower in the ground floor bathroom; the floor tiles get very slippery when they are wet.
-
"We were disappointed to find there was another larger cottage also being rented out very close to the one we were staying in."
The 2nd week we were there the occupants of the other cottage had very loud tastes in music and had bought their own sound system!!!! Also several items didn't work - the cd player, the reading/ standing lamp, which according to the visitor book hasn't been working for a while. The maintenance people were very helpful but despite mentioning about the lamp and the cd player, nothing was done to remedy the situation!
-
"The shower floor tiles became VERY slippy once wet."
-
"Extremely pleased with the cottage."
Warm and comfortable and great views. Comfortable beds and all the necessities except perhaps, my wife thought a hairdryer would be helpful. Highly recommended.
-
"Great location with lovely views."
Would definitely use again.
-
"It was a beautiful, rural setting."
A very peaceful place to be with wonderful sunsets. The property was spacious with excellent downstairs wet room/large bathroom suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties. The bedding and towels were pristine and made you feel confident that everything was fresh. We were welcomed by Dave and assured that any problems we may experience would be resolved. We spent a very happy, relaxed week and visited Solva, Broad Haven, Tenby, Picton Castle, St David’s and Fishguard. New Gale beach was beautiful but too difficult to access easily because of the large defence of pebbles and rocks. Thank you for enabling us to have a much needed rest.
