Cutting grass should have been carried out prior to our arrival and garden furniture should have been cleaned. Sykes advised us to take our own tea towels but these were provided. The availability of an outside tap and hose was great - made cleaning the dog on returning from walks very easy, thank you. We enjoyed our stay at Goldcrest very much. Highly recommend visiting the Dolls House museum. Food and service at The Canteen was excellent.

The bungalow is very well equipped and comfortable. It has lots of natural light from all the windows but doesn’t seem overlooked by neighbouring properties when inside or outside in the beautiful gardens. We found it very relaxing to listen to the stream in the garden and looking at all the artwork inside. The dogs loved it too. It is very centrally located in Newport and has plenty of parking. I’m sure that we will be back soon.

I managed to get a local heating engineer to look at the problem who concluded there was no heating oil in the supply tank. By late evening we were found alternative accommodation, which was a bungalow in the middle of a housing complex, comfortable but hardly the cottage with the seaside view we envisaged. I am still waiting for a response to my last e-mail to you regarding some form of refund for this disastrous experience which left my wife extremely upset, this (your) problem will not go away.

My husbands words when we arrived “you’ve hit the jackpot in choosing this one” said it all. In our opinion the bungalow is short of nothing, it was extremely clean, very spacious and light (love that there are so many windows) well equipped (very impressed with USB sockets), the fresh flowers were a lovely touch and very much appreciated, as was the wine and cheese straws. We can’t come up with anything we thought could have made it better. All in all a fantastic stay, we all said we could happily up sticks and move to Goldcrest permanently given half a chance!

Beautifully furnished & the garden settings are great, listening to the stream whilst in bed was a fab end to the day. Can’t fault the property or the quiet location - back gate takes you to a footpath leading straight to town or a playing field (can go through a gap there to the Secret Garden for a bev!) I would definitely return.

  • "Located at the end of a nice quite cul de sac is this lovely bungalow with gated private driveway."

Really easy to find. The garden at the front is fully secure to ensure pets cannot get out. There is also a gate by the garage in the front garden that leads to a footpath that will take you into town. The rear garden is nice and private with benches and seating, please note that there is a stream that litteraly runs along side the garden and bungalow with a steep drop down to it, bare this in mind if travelling with small toddlers, however if your pets love the water then this will be ideal for them as you can get access to it further down the garden. The bungalow itself was nice and spacious, evrey room was huge, the fact that the kitchen, dining area and living are in a u shape config was a bonus. The living room tv has full sky + HD with most, if not all the channels including the movie channels, also has Netflix. The kitchen has evreything you need, Washing machine was useful after getting muddy on the walks. There is also a heated clothes dryer in the cupboard. The shower was nice and powerful and spacious. The bedrooms are large with plenty of cupboard storage. The mattresses are quite hard on both the double and single beds although this wasn't a problem for us. I think they are memory foam. The single beds are smaller than standard and not really suited for tall adults, unless you want cold feet :). There was lovely fresh flowers and a nice bottle of wine with cheese crackers upon arrival wich was greatly appreciated. Also note that there is very little/no phone signal in the bungalow but there is good fast WiFi and a land-line available. The Welsh coastal path is is only a 5 min walk away, there is a lovely walk down the estuary and through the golf course and back along Newport beach. Top top* don't forget your wellies or shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. There is a spar in town for essentials but good luck getting bread, we tryed 3 days and there was no bread at all, alltho there is a large co-op and tesco express in Fishguard which is only a 10-15 min drive away. Or there is a tesco superstore in cardigan which is around 20-25mins drive. There is a few pubs in town aswell, I can't comment as I never went in any of them. All in all we would absolutely recommend this cottage and would return time and time again.

  • "We had a fabulous time at Goldcrest and will definitely think about visiting again."

The property was perfect in terms of the proximity to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, and to pubs and shops. The property provided everything you’d need - the only thing lacking was a pair of oven gloves, but not sure if that’s a ‘COVID’ thing. The owners were fantastic; a lovely bottle of wine and cheese crackers were there on our arrival, as well as a vase of gorgeous flowers (it’s the little things that count). We also had a problem with the shower of which we notified them and literally the same day, the plumber arrived to repair it. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. Being a bungalow it was perfect for my Dad who’s disabled. We also loved the retro style of the house - it’s doesn’t need to be updated, as a previous review suggested, clearly not aware of what retro means. I’d absolutely recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline.

It wasn’t intuitive and the instructions didn’t help. The sound bar on the tv kept shutting down. If it didn’t come on at all the tv sound worked but if it did come on briefly and then shut down we had no sound. Otherwise all was fine. • "The four of us, myself, partner and his parents thoroughly enjoyed a really relaxing week at goldcrest."

We weren’t allowed in until 6pm due to covid regulations being met, regarding cleanliness. That said, there were a number of areas where the standard wasn’t met...dusting nest of tables, moving sideboard to clean floor and stains/drips on the woodwork beside the dining table. These were niggles, and didn’t detract from the holiday. But these really should have been dealt with in the extra time that the cleaners had. The set up was great. Open plan so you could talk easily with each other, even into the garden, as you stepped onto a decked veranda from kitchen or lounge. Two great sized bedrooms, great shower and lounge area. We had a problem with the tv and the owners popped in within 30mins to sort it out. Both very helpful and friendly. Our dog really enjoyed the garden...and ran around it with joy! He really made the most of every inch! Newport is a gorgeous town which we’ve stayed in 4 times now. Invariably we will return as there is so much in Newport and in Fishguard and Cardigan, which are both close by car. Unfortunately we won’t be returning next year, purely due to the increase in cost, for the same period. But we may well look at other weeks, as we all loved the property.

Very comfortable accommodation. Beds excellent. Spacious and roomy. Well laid out and garden very dog friendly. Nice walk to beach and near to local shops and pubs. The only small criticism is that the bungalow is set up for 4 people but could have done with another couple of dinner plates and perhaps a couple of hiball glasses for a g &t rather than using wine glasses. Other than that throughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is less than 5 minutes' walk away at the Iron Bridge on the upper reaches of the river Nevern estuary where many different varieties of wading birds are spotted daily.

Goldcrest is just a few minutes' walk from a butcher, baker, deli, general store and a selection of welcoming pubs and restaurants serving excellent food.

Also within walking distance of the cottage is Parrog beach and Traeth Mawr - the 'big beach' which is a 20-minute walk along the coast path (or 3 miles by road) and offers a mile and a half of silver sand with rock pools, dunes and cliffs, backed by the 18-hole links golf course.
