  • "A couple of comments about House-keeping."

The cardboard and recycling bag in the kitchen was half full of previous visitors papers. Empty wine bottles in the orange bin provided in cupboard (I did move them into the bin outside with the green lid). Lots of hair and fluff between cushions on both sofas which we put in the Ash Bucket by the fire. That bucket hadn't been emptied and was about 1/4 full. The Meat tins and baking trays in the oven were in a disgusting state (I have taken photos) When i turned the oven on to cook a pizza on opening the door after waiting to get warm a huge cloud of smoke and fumes greeted me and it actually stung my eyes and was very irritating. I feel the oven needs a deep clean and the baking trays need replacing. The day before departure I went to the bin with the green lid to put our black rubbish bag and empty blue recycling bag. Not easy access to open the doors on this bunker style bin (I'm not very tall so could not reach inside very easily) The bunker was quite full of black bags and when I tried to move one it started to tear and banana skins almost came out. The main recycling bag at the very bottom was virtually empty apart from a cardboard toilet roll which appeared to have been nibbled by something. With the amount of rubbish still in the bunker I feel it could encourage little unwelcome visitors. We hadn't got much rubbish at all, only half a black bag and I disposed of it in the bin on the caravan park, although I am aware you're not supposed to. Apart from the above, we had a wonderful time and Little Barn is a perfect location for visiting relatives and lots of places to visit and would return in the future.

  • "The property is pretty and in a nice location."

Unfortunately when we arrived it had not been cleaned and we were met with dirty bed linen and towels. After a nine hour car journey this was so disappointing as we just wanted to relax. After reporting this the cleaners came and did a quick whizz round offering to leave the hoovering and dusting which i declined and asked them to do it. Later we noticed that there were old dirty marks on the single bed sheet and bleach marks on the towel. No mopping took place on hard floors either. The cottage suffers from damp which is evident in places and the bed quilt felt damp even though the heating is good. Lack of attention to little things such as the two tin openers did not work and a knife had no point to it. The muck heap opposite the front door didn't bother us much at this time of year until the farmer came to move a couple of loads of it which left mud/muck outside and i noticed he broke up some of the concrete with his tractor. Had to move our car and go out for fear of being blocked in while he did this. When the lack of cleanliness was reported, the caretaker offered us 50.00 for 3 of us to go for dinner but we were too tired to go out after our journey unfortunately so couldn't take it up. The welcome pack was nice and appreciated. There were no logs but caught the cleaners as they left and asked them for some. They left some but we couldnt light the log burner and there were no instructions anywhere as we are not used to log burners.

Lovely lounge/comfy beds and a well appointed Kitchen. Had some lovely walks around Dina’s Cross to beaches and to view points. Cheesecake at shop/garage was a real hit with kids. Only negative was no outside hanging area for wet wetsuits/swimming gear … could a retractable line down side of property be possible?

A lovely touch with that welcome pack the jam was amazing and we brought it home . Great location on terms of what we wanted to achieve and get out of our little break . The only reason I would not return or give maximum stars is the lack of outside space for our dog we didn’t feel safe leaving her outside the front go Door area (there is no back area ) which is not in my opinion safe for a dog and the toilet facilities being downstairs when nature calls you in the night it’s not the best ! Apart from this we had a lovely stay so thank you

  • "This is a really lovely cottage in a quiet location."

The space is roomy and interior decor in the cottage is fresh and modern. The kitchen was really well equiped. It has good proximity to amenities in Fishguard and Newport by car and many other great places to visit. The two beaches are within 20 minute walking distance but both have car parks if you did drive. It just lacked a little enclosed garden / courtyard space.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Little Barns Cottage."

It was an excellent place for a short break away if you don’t mind driving to different locations as there weren’t many places you could have a short walk to. The property was just what we were looking for and comfortable for four adults and two dogs for a few days. The only negatives were that two of the baking trays were unclean, but once they had been through, the dishwasher was fine. Also, we couldn’t find a maiden to use to dry our clothes when we returned from a very wet walk, but the log fire more than made up for this. Overall, the general cleanliness and comfort of the property was perfectly fine.

I have never been anywhere with such a fly problem. I have no idea where they were coming from, but there were dozens. We ended up hanging three fly paper traps and caught in excess of 40 flies in the course of two days, with more appearing all the time. Can i suggest the owners obtain a uv bug zapper?

Many thanks for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the cottage and thank you for highlighting this new seasonal issue. The suggestion of a UV zapper is a good one which we will take up. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay with a great comfty bed."

The view from the back door was a bit off putting (large pile of horses manure!!!) I'm sure this causes more issues during the warmer weather. Good access to local walks which was great for the dog.

Thank you for your feedback and we hope we can welcome you back in the future. We have been working with the owners of the stables opposite to arrange more regular cleaning and will be working with them more closely to ensure these issues do not arise in the future. This should now be cleared on a regular basis especially over the warmer months. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week in Pembrokeshire."

The cottage was comfortable and in a great location; within walking distance of 2 lovely beaches and a well stocked local store but there were a number of issues that would dissuade us from a return visit. 1) Flies were a problem downstairs and were extremely bothersome. This meant that we could not open windows or doors. After a couple of days we bought some fly paper and most evenings caught at least 20 flies in the living room and kitchen. 2) The pile of manure directly outside the property is not a pretty sight and almost certainly the cause of the fly problem. 3) Due to the lack of ventilation, damp was an issue and on our return home our clothes had a strong musty smell. 4) The mattresses in the twin room are extremely uncomfortable and the beds are not suitable for adults.

Thank you for your feedback and we hope we can welcome you back in the future. We have been working with the owners of the stables opposite to arrange more regular cleaning and will be working with them more closely to ensure these issues does not arise in the future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely holiday thanks to its location in that it was walk-able to 3 lovely beaches and was quiet."

It is in need of TLC, and despite being mentioned by others, there is not even an ice compartment in the fridge, so no ice, no freezing coolbox packs, no buying ice-cream or anything frozen....and it was in the 30's! The sitting out area, which is just a small paved area onto the shared drive, needed a weed and a hose down, but the main issue when you sit out is at the other side of the drive (just a few metres away) you are looking at the stable/farm yard which had an old sofa-bed dumped in view and the biggest pile of horse manure I have ever seen, literally 40 metres long by 5 metres high. Perhaps explaining all the flies! WE live in the country with cow sheds nearby so are used to country smells, others may find it a challenge. We would return to the area without doubt, but not the property.

Thank you for your feedback. We have been working with the owners of the stables opposite to arrange more regular cleaning and will be working with them more closely to ensure these issues does not arise in the future. We have now replaced the fridge in the property, and this has a small freezer compartment. The gas fire in the property has been replaced with a log fire in the sitting area. Property Owner

Gas fire in living room a bit of a faf, though only tried it to see what it looked like (quite affective, but with a bit of a smell) Looking out of the kitchen window wasn't a high point as seemed to be looking at a big pile of horse manure and straw.

We have been working with the owners of the stables opposite to arrange more regular cleaning and will be working with them more closely to ensure these issues does not arise in the future. Minor issues.....only one toilet roll, no washing up liquid and an old scourer sponge that had seen better days! Outside patio area needed some tlc. Lovely walk to beaches with our dog. A huge disappointment was that both pubs within walking distance did not let dogs inside! This had been one of our reasons for booking the cottage ..the ability to walk to a pub in the evening for some food and a drink. We drove to The Golden Lion in nearby Newport and they welcomed our dog with open arms!

  • "The barn was very clean and in a very quiet location within walking distance to a couple of nice beaches."

My kids loved the gas fire and the smart TV with access to Netflix. I booked the break as a last minute getaway the night before we were due to arrive and paid £877 for three nights. On arrival at around 3:30pm we found that the property had no power (electricity completely off) I phoned the management company who got an electrician out pretty quickly to be fair however he couldn’t resolve the issue as it was a DNO fault and didn’t know when power would be reinstated (nobody’s fault really but meant we didn’t have power for the majority of our first day) not sure if others were advised about sn apparent power cut but nobody let us know when booking. There was also an intermittent issue with the water at the property so that when you opened a tap on some occasions no water at all would run not sure if it was an air lock in the system or something but it was annoying sometimes waiting a few minutes before running any water. A few comments I read beforehand were mostly about stripping bedding and separating towels atc which if I’m honest wasn’t too much trouble but at almost £900 for 3 nights stay I feel that this should be included really. So in conclusion it wasn’t a bad trip by any means I just didn’t feel like I had good value for my money. All the best

  • "The cottage was lovely and clean."

However my feedback as to why I would not recommend your company is due to the nature of the emails and texts that you sent. Firstly to be advised several times before arrival and 24 hours before our departure that we should strip the beds, empty dishwasher, put the rubbish out, place towels etc in a pile and make sure the cottage is clean and tidy is an intrusion on our holiday. The last thing I want is a reminder 24 hours before departure by text and email of this nature as I am on holiday and do not want to be thinking about my exit. Secondly your charge for the cottage surely includes cleaner costs. I have never been asked before to strip beds, put rubbish out, empty dishwasher etc etc when at a holiday cottage. Quite bizarre. I will not be using your company again and will not be recommending.
