"Lovely hosts, wonderful location."
Furniture and bedding are due an upgrade, which may be on the cards, but the place , hosts and location are all so lovely that would happily return
-
"Comfortable and well equipped cosy cottage although a little ‘tired’ and needing some updating."
However this did not detract from our enjoyment of the cottage and surrounding area.

"Lovely owners, bees were interesting, great garden, table tennis table well used by us."
lots of space and nice walk to coast.

"Maengwyn was very comfortable, with good facilities."
The garden - with a stream in the far top corner - was very peaceful and the hay meadow beyond was lovely. The walks listed in the handbook in the house were useful; I'd really recommend the walk through Aberfforest to Dinas cove- and then carry on to go around Dinas island. Maengwyn was a good spot for access to Newport, Fishguard and only about 30 mins to St David's, also, for 2 days, we did local walks which didn't require any car use. Thanks to the owners, Ann and Stephen, for providing additional local botanical information.

"Once we found the cottage (it's on the main road), it was absolutely brilliant."
The hosts are wonderful, so welcoming, friendly and thoughtful. The cottage is exactly what you need with enough space for a group of 6 where you're not on top of each other. The kitchen is fully equipped and you can spend time just relaxing and chatting in comfort. A picturesque garden with apple trees and an orchard behind that the hosts are happy for you to stroll through. This is definitely a break from the stresses of life and a short walk to the beach. We would definitely go back.

"We had a fabulous long needed holiday."
The cottage was superb, beautifully clean and the garden was great. Stunning. For the time of year we went it would have been nice if the grass had been mowed back to the summer house, but only a small ask. We didn't realise it was on a main road but this did not matter once we were inside. The owners were really helpful before and when we were on holiday. The local beaches are a good walk for small children, but a very short ride by car, much better when taking lots to the beach. We all would return, private beautiful holiday. Thank you so much to the owners.

"The owners were very welcoming and helpful."
Nice to have tea and coffee, (plus loo roll) already there. Well, stocked kitchen with lots of tea pots and cafeterias Choice of nice walks from the property and the one to the beach past the waterfall was loverly, when the kids found this one, they went every day, even if we also went to another beach too.

The property
Maengwyn is a detached farmhouse dating back to about 1820.
It's packed full of traditional features, inglenook fireplace and beamed ceilings create a cosy atmosphere whatever the weather.
Combined with all the modern comforts we know and love. Behind the property are three hay and flower meadows that are a haven for all flora and fauna, you are welcome to wander through them on the mown paths.
There are many rare wild flowers such as marsh orchids and the shallow ponds are a haven for aquatic plants and wildlife.
The owners have planted heritage apple trees in one of the meadows. Set in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park just off the A487 between the village of Dinas Cross and Newport with their individual shops, pubs, galleries and eateries, this is a wonderful holiday base.
The coast path is just a 20 minute walk from the house through a wooded valley with a high waterfall to Aberfforest beach where you can also access cliff top walks and the lovely beach at Cwm yr Eglwys with its ruined church which was destroyed in a terrible storm in the 1850s.
Cwm yr Eglwys is a busy beach where you can kayak, launch your small boats, and take part in all traditional beach activities. The owners are happy to share their extensive knowledge of their land and the natural history of Pembrokeshire with their guests.
