10 Customer Reviews

  • "Amazing property in a beautiful location, perfect for a family and friends getaway."

Communication was excellent, instructions were clear, and the property was perfect from the moment we arrived. As a group of friends (and our growing families!), we go away each October and have done for several years. This was comfortably the nicest property we have stayed at so far. Plenty to do in the local area, with beautiful beaches, castles and plenty for children too. Our dog particularly enjoyed the local Newport beach! Thanks so much for a wonderful stay.

The property

Pen Y Mynydd, a fantastic farmhouse conversion, is situated in an exquisite, elevated setting in Dinas Cross in the Pembrokeshire National Park.

Sharing an idyllic spot with a viewpoint of outstanding natural beauty, the 7 acres of private land has pasture, a meadow and private woodland walks.

It perfectly combines the breathtaking 180 degree sea views and a sense of wildness, yet is just a 10 minutes drive to Newport and Fishguard.

This lovely property is the ideal escape for a family group looking to getaway in style, with tasteful décor, picture-perfect sea views, a huge garden, and a plethora of home comforts.

When you arrive, a private driveway brings you to plenty of parking before you enter your home away from home for your trip.

Enter the kitchen/diner, which is equipped with high-quality appliances for your culinary ease.

The dining table for ten makes a group dinner a relaxing event; have the group's chef cook up a storm to eat with a good bottle of wine and even better conversation.

Head up to the galleried sitting room, which has two L-shaped sofas to sink into while watching a movie, or down the corridor to the snug to curl up in front of a fire in the homely snug.

When it's time to sleep, six bedrooms are available; three doubles are on the ground floor, while two twins and a single, ideal for the children in the party, are on the first floor.

A variety of bathroom configurations, including walk-in showers, a bath, and a utility area, round out the inside.

Enjoy refreshments alfresco while admiring the sea views; the grounds are great for exploration, with far-reaching sea views to admire and incredible opportunities for star gazing.

The abundant wildlife can include owls, buzzards, badgers, foxes and rabbits so the young and young at heart can enjoy this harmony with nature.

If you don't feel like cooking, head to nearby Newport's many eateries such as the Golden Lion or Castle Inn.

Heading inland, visit Castell Henllys Iron Age Village and the remarkable 5,500 year old Pentre Ifan Neolithic Burial Chamber for an iconic picture postcard moment.

Take a stroll along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and visit Newport Sands where the children and doggie members of the family will have a geat time on its expanse of sands.

A walk around Dinas Head from Pwllgwaelod Beach to Cwm-Yr-Eglwys will offer stunning views with the latter offering another moment to savour, at the romantic ruins of St Brynach's Church, right on the coastline.

Visiting Fishguard, take in the beauty of Lower Town where the harbour played host to Hollywood classics such as Gregory Peck's Moby Dick and Dylan Thomas' under Mild Wood, featuring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

Head into town, where the story of the Last Invasion of Mainland Britain in 1797 and of Welsh heroine Jemima Nicholas is told in the Town Hall.

Then have a hearty meal in the Royal Oak on the square where the Napoleonic French signed their surrender all those years ago!

For the more adventurous, the mythical Preseli Hills, with its connection to the Bluestone of Stonehenge offers a range of walking and hiking options, offering great rural and coastal views.

Choose Pen Y Mynydd for an amazing holiday with your favourite people.
