  • "Enjoyed our stay , lovely cottage , a bit misleading how far the nearest shop ..."

Enjoyed our stay , lovely cottage , a bit misleading how far the nearest shop was for morning paper and such , the cottage was comfortable but sorry there was cobwebs everywhere , needs a feather duster , there was a cobwebs even attached to the shelf where the pots where placed in the kitchen ,

So sorry to hear about the cobwebs. My cleaner is very reliable and thorough. She will be very disappointed to think that she missed something or that the spiders got to work the moment she left the cottage.. Property Owner

  • "Newport is a lovely town on the coast in the National Park."

You could not find a nicer environment to holiday or live West End cottage is 'compact', the owners have carefully restored the building. Unfortunately, to maintain some of original features the door way into the bathroom is too low. I split the top my head and needed medical attention to clean up the skin and blood. 145cm (4 ft 9in) is very low. The lintel needs to be raised or softened to reduce damage to head contact. I will not be staying there again.

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that you liked Newport. We are very sorry to hear about your accident. Property Owner

  • "We knew from your information that the cottage was a little bijou."

However we did not realise the potential difficulties with the small space upstairs and the wardrobe downstairs. Having said that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would add one word of advice. If the back door is designated a fire escape as per the notices then egress should not be made impossible by the door being locked from the outside.

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to assure you that the back door is not lockable from the outside. It is secured by bolts on the inside. Property Owner

  • "Cottage was lovely, warm and beds and chairs comfortable."

Very close to the coastal path so well positioned for walks. Good shops and restaurants locally With a wooden spiral staircase, not sure how suitable it is for elderly people?

  • "The property is in a good location within a few minutes walking distance of the beach and town and a short drive or bus ride from other places of interest."

The cottage is quaint and fully equipped with everything you need. My only issues were with the height of the bathroom door which certainly wouldn't be suitable for a tall person and also their was no allocated rear garden space for the cottage residents. Overall our stay in the cottage was a positive experience.

Really enjoyed being so close to the Parrog and loved walks on the Coastal Path. Lovely welcoming pubs. Stunning fish and chips at Morawelon and had really tasty meals at the Golden Lion and Llys Meddyg

  • "The cottage is clean and tidy but very small."

The bedroom area does not have any space for clothes as the wardrobe is downstairs in the main living area. Really bad draughts from both front and back doors which in the summer may not be a problem but in March with the weather conditions as they were was a problem.

  • "The cottage was excellent, hence the 5 stars."

I have only marked the comfort down a little as my husband hit his head multiple times going to the toilet in the middle of the night! In the daytime he always ducked, but half asleep he struggled to remember and so has some good scars on his head as a holiday memento.

  • "My wife and I stayed at West End Cottage for 6 nights."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Cottage is small but is clean, warm and comfortable, and has everything you need. The stairs need care, especially coming down, because they are narrow and steep, and anyone with limited mobility may find it difficult, but we had no problem. The wifi worked fine for us, but some tv channels would not work. The heated floor was really nice. The road down to the Cottage is very narrow, so a small car is an advantage. Off-road parking is next to the attached main house. It is a short 5 minute walk down to lovely Parrog Beach, and a 15 minute walk to the Spar shop and pubs and restaurants in Newport. The T5 bus conveniently runs regularly through Newport to get to Fishguard and Cardigan, and further afield. We are very happy to recommend West End Cottage to couples want to stay in Newport, Pembrokeshire.

  • "The staircase is really not accessible for anyone with any kind of mobility issue."

In the summer my husband ruptured his achilles tendon and had to wear a surgical boot for 10 weeks. Fortunately this is no longer the case, but he would not have been able to get upstairs safely (on the bend the treads are really tiny) if our holiday had been a week earlier. The cottage is just as cosy as it looks, and uncluttered - the underfloor heating was a real treat - and as we eat out very little, I found the kitchen and equipment perfectly adequate to prepare and cook the wonderful local produce. Television and wifi were great.

A three minute walk takes you down to Parrog harbour and you can wade across to Newport Sands at low tide. A great base for exploring the area - spectacular walks. A beautiful, unspoilt part of the country.

The property

This tiny stone 'grace and favour' holiday cottage for two is in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park at Newport and makes a perfect getaway for couples at any time of the year.

It offers all the modern comforts we know and love, whilst retaining its original charm.

Once you arrive you can just park the car and forget about it until you need to go home again. Within a 5 minute walk of the cottage is: Parrog beach, Newport Bay with access to the 186 miles of Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and the Nevern estuary.

If you enjoy walking the coastal path you can catch the Poppit Rocket (coastal walker's bus) at Parrog enabling you to walk different sections each day.

Newport has a great selection of pubs and eateries to suit all tastes and it’s a nice half mile walk.

Each Monday there is a local produce market as well as the towns traditional shops which will provide just about all you need.

There's also a lovely links golf course, Traeth Mawr - a beautiful sandy beach and a bird sanctuary in the estuary as well as easy access to the Preseli Hills and Gwaun Valley.
