Hosts were very supportive when there was a heating issue. Bedding and bath and hand towels felt well worn. A lovely 8 gas ring hob but only had 3 pans and a frying pan. That said a great base to explore the region.

If you are looking for rural, quiet and country then this is ideal for you. Very warm and cosy with a home from home feel. Only negative is the long drive way to the farm house is very rough, unstable and not great for cars or small vehicles. This however is mentioned in the cottage description. If you have a van or 4x4 you have no trouble. I didn't meet the owners but messaged a few times. Very friendly and accommodating. Nice size bedrooms and lovely cooker. Loads of grounds although the area is not enclosed so I'd bringing a dog it would need to be on a lead. Lovely stay.

  • "The property was great and the welcome pack was lovely."

Met the owner the next morning after arrival but just to check everything was ok and wasn't intrusive through our entire stay. They very kindly secured the garden for us, so our deaf dog could have a nice sniff around without fear of him getting near sheep and also our other dog. Neither are escape artist though. The cottage was out in the sticks which we loved but central to all the things we did in the area, which included axe throwing, canoeing, steam train was an hour away and plenty of beaches about half hour away which were gorgeously sandy and dog friendly and plenty of walks including some from the door. We love this area and hope to return. The cottage has everything you would need and more. Even Amazon delivered when we needed a couple of things.

On arrival we were concerned that the garden wasn’t secure, my fault as I had assumed it was reading a previous review. Our dogs would of been off after the lovely rabbits like a shot but after speaking to owners Sian and Hedd they persuaded us to let them come up with a solution and within no time at all they made a big secure fenced in area which worked like a treat. We honestly thought we would have to go home, can’t thank them enough. How’s that for service! Arrival pack was much appreciated and very generous. gobeithio ymweld y flwyddyn (hope to visit next year) Angela & Steve and dogs Molly, Dottie & Nancy

  • "The property was great however we did have a few issues."

    1. The track up to the property was very very bad worst we have ever experienced 2. Fridge kept leaking even after draining the drainage hole did report to owner on leaving day 3. The property needs to be reviewed for safety as there are derelict outbuildings attached to the main property with old batterys lying around and various other things not good if children are playing etc.. 4. There are 3 phone numbers in the information guide which we tried on several occasions but no reply ( not good in an emergency) 6. The property needs to mention on Sykes that it is a working farm and there are sheep that can wonder onto the property gardens.

We were sorry to hear that your stay hadn't met your expectations. We value your feedback and strive to improve our service to ensure that all our guests thoroughly enjoy their stay with us. We will take on-board your comments. Regards Hedd and Sian. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic cottage, beautifully decorated and perfect for a family get away."

I travelled to Llygad yr Haul for work during the week and my family came to visit for the weekend - the cottage is therefore perfect for both occasions. The location is excellent in my opinion. Very secluded with a field full of sheep for neighbours (which my daughter loved!). I read reviews about the track leading up to the house but we found no problems with this at all - my husband owns a Renault Captur and I have a Dacia Duster and neither had any problems going to and from the cottage repeatedly. Located in a beautiful, very rural part of Pembrokeshire, I wasn't expecting a tarmac drive! :-) A lovely welcome pack was ready on arrival with the lamps and radiators already on when I arrived. Which was hugely grateful given the torrential rain I had travelled in. The cottage is beautifully decorated and I shall we modelling my own kitchen renovation on the kitchen at Llygad yr Haul - gorgeous! If you're looking for a remote, quiet and relaxing break away, close enough to get to some beautiful beaches, we highly recommend here. My children are already asking when we will be back!!

Hi Rebecca, I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us despite the weather last week. Thank you for the lovely feedback, it's greatly appreciated. We'll hopefully see you return to Llygadyrhaul at some point in the future. Regards Sian and Hedd. Property Owner

Everything you could possibly want. Beautiful scenic views to gaze at from the bedroom window each morning. Kitchen well stocked. Even to the point of providing a slow cooker if you wish to use one. Kitchen envy. Family games for all to enjoy. Log fire for those cold windy evenings. And considering our trip was November, we definitely made the most of this. Plenty of seating so no one ended up on the floor apart from the dog. But her favourite place was always directly in front of the log fire. As other reviews have mentioned the only downside was the road to get to this stunning cottage. Just ensure you go slow and steady. If we were are ever considering of returning to this area we wouldn't hesitate to book this place again. We would also like to say a massive thank you for the welcome pack. Extremely generous and thoughtful gift.

Thank you for leaving such nice feedback, it's much appreciated. We'll hopefully see you again sometime. Hedd and Sian Property Owner

  • "A beautiful cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location, exactly what we needed."

Our only issue was the track leading up to the cottage. For old cars or those with low exhausts, be aware you will struggle as it is rutted and uneven and rocky so badly in places we overheated our clutch and our low exhaust sounds like it has a problem now. This should be made clear in the description so we could have made a more informed choice. I got out of the car on arriving at the bottom of the track with our dog in the hope the lighter load would help. It didn’t. We had to take it back down very very slowly after unloading and left it by the lane. Every day we took everything we’d need for our short trips out and walk down to the car and back upon our return which is about a three minute uphill walk. We got absolutely drenched one morning but nothing could convince us to take our car up. We needed it to get home! The cottage is absolutely superb and we had our bedroom window open all night to watch the moon and stars. If you want absolute peace and quiet, this is perfect. Sometimes we heard the neighbours and their dogs in the morning, but it wasn’t intrusive. A lovely welcome pack on our arrival was a kindness. We would return now that we know what we’d be dealing with.

The property is extremely well furnished and very homely. Upon arrival we were greeted with a thoughtful package of bread, milk, eggs, Welsh cakes - which was a lovely touch. I have briefly spoken to the owner Hedd before we arrived and throughout our stay he was onhand to help us in anyway we needed. He was a pleasure to meet and did everything he could to help make our stay such a blessing. Our family absolutely loved playing in the surrounding area together. We really loved the location. The area is away from it all and right in the middle of Pembrokeshire, but also not too far from nearby shops, some gorgeous towns and villages, and world-class beaches. Hedd is a true gentleman and we would very much recommend this beautiful property to anyone wanted to relax and spend time away from it all. We certainly hope to head back there some day. One of our best holidays to date.

This is a great base for walking and travelling to the nearby beaches all within about 30 mins drive. • "Ok, there were some really good things about this property that we loved but overall there were too many things that we disliked so we would not return here again."

The driveway up to the house needs work, it’s really rough and bumpy. Someone had put sharp pieces of slate down which were jagged and looked like they could puncture tyres. The bushes to the side of the driveway up to the house were all overgrown and thick brambles were hanging over and would scratch every time we drove in and out the property. As for the house, upstairs was very good, lovely and clean, comfortable. Downstairs however was not our cup of tea at all. The lighting for the kitchen and living room is so dim, it needs more lighting. The kitchen was a lovely space, great cooker and the owners had left us a lovely surprise gift of tea bags, bara brith and Welsh cakes which was so lovely. It’s just a bit dark in the kitchen. The living room has the same problem, it’s quite dark, feels like it’s part of another house. It could do with some work, it did feel a bit creepy to be honest, I didn’t really like spending time in there. We were so excited to see the wood burning fire but it just filled the room with a smoky smell, then we had to open the windows to try and get rid of the smell and then it was freezing cold in there. I can imagine it having a different feel in the summer time because you would have more light during the day, you could make use of the lovely outdoor space, it’s really quiet, no one else around, there is plenty of space for children and dogs to play. We can see that a lot of people have stayed here and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t for us. If the owners made some improvements, it would make a huge difference. It does have the potential but in my opinion some work is needed for sure.

The property was well laid out and spacious, especially the kitchen. There were a few niggles; leaky tap, windows dirty, woodburner a bit smokey and no seal on the bottom of the shower screen. Also the long track to the house could do with some attention - care is required with an ordinary car. I must say that these were minor issues and did not in any way spoil our family holiday.
