  • "The facility and location is fine."

Plenty of crockery etc but the one pair of scissors are blunt and there is no cutting board apart from a cracked wooden one. Not the best for chopping vegetables etc. Conflicting information given on whether or not there is a DVD player. We could not find one. The welcome file has some pages which have at such stage been damp so you can’t read some of them. Not a good impression. Back in October after booking I asked for the twin beds to be zipped together. I w anted to confirm that all was ok. After two aborted 20 minute waits on the telephone, I finally got through after another 15 minutes and was told that the caretakers had been informed of our request. On arrival the beds had not been zipped together. The caretakers claimed they weren’t informed. There are two floor areas (living/dining area and rear bedroom where the floor was very uneven and caused problems in closing the rear bedroom door quietly. Attention to detail overall compared to other places we have stayed in was poor.

  • "Goldfinch was one of the best holiday accommodations we have stayed at - the property was of the highest standard including the fixtures and furnishings made it feel very welcoming."

The cleanliness was of the highest standard. Goldfinch's location next to the tidal creek is brilliant, just watching the tide rising and falling. The adjacent woodland and river were awesome. Further a filed Goldfinch provides easy access to both secluded beaches and coastal walks as well as to the major towns of west Pembroke. Recommend Goldfinch as high value for the price and will be back. Thank you to the owners and Sykes Holidays.

  • "We had a very good week."

Weather not brilliant. It is my third stay at Goldfinch Cottage. It is in a very good place to enable you to travel around Pembrokeshire. A small improvement would be if a hand towel was provided for the downstairs toilet. We also had 6 adults staying and only had 3 wine glasses. Otherwise we recommend this cottage and do plan on returning in the future.

  • "Lovely cottage in an idyllic location."

Very central for visiting other attractions and beaches. A few little niggles, the kitchen would benefit from a clothes dryer as if raining, there is only an airer to dry beachwear and towels. A small paring knife would also be useful. The shaving light in the bathroom was u/s on arrival. These aside, we had a wonderful week at Goldfinch watching the tides come and go, and the birds fishing for crabs and mullet in the sluice pond. Thank you.

  • "We have loved our stay in this lovely house."

The weather was perfect which meant we sat on the terrace as long as possible. It's a great spot for watching the wildlife and the tide come in and out. My daughter paddle boards and this was a great place to get in and out of the water. Not quite enough comfy seating for 6 adults if you all wanted to sit and watch TV but that's only a small gripe everything else was lovely.

Nothing in this property has been scrimped on, it has lovely quality interior furnishings and all in all is a high end holiday rental in our opinion, a few people have commented on the sofas, no they are not firm but being leather they are easily sanitiseable bit of a comfort in the current situation. We will be booking again in the near future

Fabulous location. A small thing: Lined curtains or blackout curtains should be considered for the two bedrooms facing the estuary. We weren’t used to being woken up so early by the bright sunshine. Only an issue during the summer months. The mattress in the main bedroom (with a king size) felt like it needs replacing soon.

  • "Such a great location."

Right on the Pembrokeshire / wales coastal path. Milford haven marina was lovely. Fab restaurant, cafe and shops. The location of the house on the riverbank was fab, lovely sitting area overlooking the water. Loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom. Room for 2 cars to park. Extra area for sitting attached to property. Only a few mentions:- the cottage Sleeps 6 but seating in the lounge area was just for 5 and that was squashed. The flush on the toilet upstairs is very week. There is no garden for the dog to go out to but there is a patch of grass to the side of the property and some nice walks nearby. Lola (dog) loved sitting on the patio looking out over the river, so much wildlife to watch. Really enjoyed our stay, would book with Sykes again. So easy and all booked last minute, the week before. Thankyou.

Easy access to lots of beautiful walks and interesting places to visit. House was super - lots of thoughtful touches, and generally well equipped. Lovely views over the estuary, and furnishings v comfy. Spotlessly clean. Just a couple of niggles - no umbrella for shade on patio, and some of the kitchen implements need replacing. Bit short of bowls, no small kitchen knives and the saucepans were a bit ramshackle.

Good restaurants, good beaches - it was all very pleasant. The house is really beautifully furnished and in a lovely setting. We hadn’t realised Milford Haven had oil refineries around, but they do not disturb, and the history of the town (seen in the local museum) is very interesting. We particularly enjoyed a boat trip around Skomer island to see the puffins. Tenby is very quaint with lovely beaches, and then you have the wilder beaches like Marloes. Pembroke Castle is lovely and there are many castles to visit. We had a lovely week.
