  • "There are lots of good aspects to recommend this property."

What spoiled it for me is as follows. Long black human hair all over, 2 hair balls in bedroom and one outside the bathroom, check behind the mirror.Hairs in the shower tray, shower screen mouldy and grubby( they cleaned ok). Hairs on kitchen floor, glass bowls were covered in residual food and fingerprints( could have been egg).

  • "The Garden Flat is in a good location with off road parking (on your website it says only a short walk to the harbour and beach but there is no mention of the steep hill)."

The layout of the flat was good and spacious. It was equipped with everything we needed but the crockery, glasses and cutlery were a hotchpotch of old items. The heated towel rail in the bathroom was a boon and the water was nice and hot. There we a few issues that needed addressing: In the spacious shower the hand shower was broken from it's fitting and the head was very rusty. The overhead shower needed a good clean as some of the holes were blocked. In the kitchen the the fridge had water in the bottom and one of the shelves in the door was broken. We enjoyed our stay in Saundersfoot but would not recommend the Garden Flat. We were sure that with a little TLC and attention to detail it would be a lovely property - just very tired. We have stayed in several Sykes properties and always been very satisfied but this property was disappointing.

  • "It was a lovely, comfortable, quiet property with a nice outside area and private with surrounding trees."

It was well equipped with everything you could want and even had some lovely flowers. The location is fantastic and only a short walk away from the beach, shops and restaurants. A few things that could be improved are the gate which has dropped and had to be lifted to lock, the shower is not fully functional and has to be hand held at all times and some dog food was left in a cereal bowl in the cupboard.

  • "The area is just what we wanted and we did enjoy ourselves."

The Garden Flat was not up to the usual Sykes high standard. It was not that clean, looked like it needed tender loving care. I even used bleach on the shower to remove mold. The front of the cooker was loose and had clearly been bodged with tape that had come off. There were no instructions for use of appliances, however, the bed and sofa were comfy. I would not recommend the place to others. Pitty as it has potential.

Close to the beach and shops. Clean and tidy. Lovely garden for the dog. However, there where a few things in the flat that where broken. Window in bathroom, we couldn't shut after opening. Shower holder was broken. There was tape across a cupboard in the kitchen? Not sure why. One of the cupboards couldn't be stut after opening it. Although these things didn't affect my stay. I feel that they should be fixed properly

The radiator in the shower room leaks. Cupboard under the hob difficult to shut as out of line with the cupboard next to it. No lighting at the front of the property, dangerous for walking from the car. Info supplied insufficient and out of date ie recycling. Poor TV reception Otherwise the decor was nice and bed comfy. The fridge was running in water because the seal was broke, had to put a tea towel at the bottom to catch the water. To top it all we had not television nearly all the week , no signal. Apparently according to the owner the whole of Saundersfoot was down but we asked around and everybody else had a signal. To be fare the owner and her son were very helpful so can't knock her for that, she needs a good cleaner in there as it was dirty, had to wash all the dishes before using them.

for instance, one day a very large white van with german registration plates turned up. two men got out and tried to get into the house. my first inclination was to phone the police but decided instead to talk to the men. one of them told me that they had rented the owner's house for the next two weeks. as i had spoken to the owner two days previously and she had not mentioned it, this was news to me. it took a telephone call to a member of her family to confirm that the rental was genuine.

  • "Really disappointed in the Garden Flat."

Skirting boards and all surfaces were dusty and dirty, not what i was expecting according to the literature sent by Sykes a deep clean should have taken place prior to our arrival due to Covid, but there was no evidence that this had taken place. Reported incident to Sykes immediately as my husband had been shielding during the Pandemic due to his heart condition and this dirty environment in my professional opinion was a health hazard in our present climate Owner could not get cleaner to come to the property as she had other commitments, so the owner asked us if she could come on the Wednesday to clean the property, to which we agreed. We got up early out in the rain for the whole morning to allow her to clean the property, when we got back the only thing that was evident was that she had removed old books from the book case in the bedroom as the bedroom smelt like an old dusty book shop, no evidence of the dust and dirt being removed anywhere. We took photos of the condition of the property again and sent them to Sykes and i am now awaiting a response to our formal complaint . Would not recommend a stay in this property until the above is addressed, the whole experience spoilt our holiday which we were looking forward to.

Only two towels provided for the week luckily we brought extra including tea towels. No welcome pack which may be down to Covid and limited information about the accommodation or surrounding amenities. WiFi very intermittent and next to useless at times. • "The property was close to Saundersfoot but a steep hill climb back would be challenging for elderly or unfit people."

The garden described for the flat is not private. Dogs belonging to people in Hafodwen came onto the patio and there was nothing to stop this happening. The bedding and towels were not of a standard I would expect. The pillows had considerable stains and were very lumpy. Some cushions on the sofa were tired, bobbly and had black marks on them. The bathroom had issues as the shower did not work properly and the toilet was not cleaned to a high standard. During our stay workmen arrived saying they needed to fix the TV. We were not made aware of this. The extraction system in the bathroom did not work efficiently which made the flat smell damp. The cooker hob did not appear to have an extraction system even though it was gas fuelled. During the whole of our stay there was a considerable accumulation of rubbish and recycling outside our window which looked unsightly.

  • "Firstly there was no information available re WiFi etc."

I contacted the owner who gave me a code that was wrong. Resolved this am the next day when I also pointed out that cooking trays were unfit for use. She didn’t seem bothered. I would enclose pictures but this site doesn’t seem to accept them. Saucepans and cutlery had to be washed before use. House smelt of damp - no wonder all windows open when I arrived. As an asthmatic I prefer not to have to deal with damp smelling bedrooms. Hoover removed by owner to service the house next door and not returned so unable to keep place reasonably clean of dog hair. TV reception dreadful- is small external aerial too close to trees? Bedside light fitting a hazard; pillows are old stained and lumpy. All in all a disappointment and though the owner rang the morning I left inviting me to contact her direct if I wanted a return visit I think I would prefer to use the serviced apartments at the local hotel.

However, we did feel that the property needed a little bit of love. There were light bulbs that needed replacing and the bedside lights did not work. Also there was no DVD player and the drinking mugs were old and cheap. Only one toilet roll was provided, which seemed a bit petty and the towels had gone a little grey. An ironing board and iron would have been useful. Your website did describe a nice stroll down the hill into Saunders foot and this was true. However, the reality was an extremely steep climb up the hill back to the property, which would not have been possible for anyone who was elderly or unfit.
