"WE HAD A FANTASTIC HOLIDAY INCLUDING THE DOG, THE COTTAGE WAS FULL OF CHARACTER, COMFORTABLE BEDS, NICE AND WARM, POWER SHOWER WAS GREAT, KITCHEN HAD EVERYTHING YOU NEEDED PLUS TWO FRIDGES SO WHAT YOU COULDNT FIT IN THE SMALLER ONE YOU COULD FIT IN THE LARGE ONE."
NICE COSY EATING AREA EASY TO OPERATE COOKER BONUS COULD EAT AND DRINK OUTSIDE IF YOU WANTED AND A CAFE NEXT DOOR WHERE WE ATE FABULOUS COOKED BREAKFASTS THE WEATHER WAS VERY GOOD TOO

"The location of the property is brilliant as is the parking space."
The beds were very comfortable. The washer was great and the cooker worked well. Unfortunately the property was not clean. Both bathrooms were dirty, the kitchen wasn’t clean and the windows were dirty - especially the velux one in the bedroom that you have to touch to pull down the blind every night. The blind was broken and dirty. Every time you use the shower or sink upstairs the water pours out all over the back yard making the seating area unusable. The kitchen sink drain also leaks all over the yard. The sink upstairs is way to small you can’t brush your teeth. Very odd hole above the shower which made me feel uncomfortable. Outside light didn’t work so impossible to see the dog at night had to use a torch. Items left in bedroom drawers from a previous guest. Whole place needs to be updated really as furniture old and worn. I didn’t expect anything amazing as it allows a dog but have stayed in numerous that allow a dog and still have better condition items. Towels for shower were awful and the ones I bought with me for my dog were better. With some TLC could be lovely as the location, city of St David’s and nearby areas are all beautiful.

"I’m not sure if this will be published online or just fed back to the owner and holiday company but here is a summary of our experience."
Lack of plugs meant the bedside table lamps were useless in 2/3 bedrooms. (Two extension cables were provided for these but only one worked.) No internet in the cottage, this should be mentioned on the listing. Booster to owners cafe next door unreliable and of course the TV was very limited because of this. Lack of board games or any family entertainment felt off for a three bed holiday cottage, as did the sitting room seating and tiny tv. The kitchen was dirty with only one sharp knife provided which we found 2 days into our stay in the outside courtyard. The mop that was presumably used to clean the floor before we arrived was left in the kitchen complete with dirty water in the bucket. The extractor fan doesn’t work in the kitchen and many kitchen accessories like the egg holder and pan trivets were absolutely filthy. The towels were like ones you’d only keep for a dog. There was a random bit of wood with exposed screws left in the twin (children’s) bedroom. Everything in the cottage looks like it was bought at a charity shop or car boot sale, which would be fine if it was looked after and clean, but the lack of care and effort meant it all felt a bit grubby. The location is very central (St David’s is tiny anyway so it’s hard to go wrong) but the cafe was noisy when open in the evenings and the downstairs bedroom guests said it was noisy all night from the street noise. As the cottage accepts dogs we did expect it to be a bit dated and less luxurious but I still couldn’t recommend this cottage even based on that and frankly I’m surprised it passes the basic standards expected by the holiday company. None of this hampered our holiday but this definitely is the faulty towers of holiday cottages.

"Very central location, easy reach of everything St David's has to offer."
Everything we needed in kitchen, Mary (the owner) was a delight, so welcoming. Very peaceful considering we were on a main road. Spacious, and loved the outside space.

"We had a lovely stay at Y Bwthyn cottage St Davids."
Location was just perfect. Cottage was comfortable and very well equipped. Needs a bit of TLC but that did not mar our stay. We would definitely book this cottage again.

"Owners very welcoming and helpful."
Property charming but needing a little maintainance e.g. kitchen cupboards. Noise from road hardly noticeable. Would recommend heavy sleepers only in downstairs room due to noise from adjoining cafe. Cottage right in heart of wonderful St. David's and all our party thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

"The house needs a new front door as we had trouble shutting it from the outside."
-
"Very conveniently situated, clean and well equipped."
The washer needs attention as it didn’t empty properly. Maybe new sitting room furniture tho there were plenty of seats. Lovely comfy beds. Nice courtyard area for fine weather. Mary Wilcox the owner was very friendly and helpful when I had trouble with the door locks. I would like to hire the property again. Thank you.

"Excellent location in the centre of the city."
Appliances/ furnishings are a little tired but perfectly adequate; property is an old building, so not as bright + airy as a modern dwelling - not an issue and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - hope to stay here again in future. Owner is very pleasant and helpful.

"Great location and the parking next door was a real bonus."
Well appointed cottage with every facility you could want. Being a very old building it was a bit dark and musty inside but not a real problem. would happily stay here again

"Cottage excellently situated in the centre of St David’s, close to all attractions and outside main bus stop."
However cottage was very dark and dingy. Cobwebs and dust everywhere. Smelt damp, and it was impossible to open the majority of the (dirty) windows. Nice patio area was ruined by previous occupants’ dog mess and was full of weeds. Upstairs sink outlet/downpipe was detached so emptied on to patio (and anyone sitting under it!). Everything in very poor state of repair. Whole place could do with refurbishment.

This was a lovely cottage to stay at lots to do in the area and when you got back on an evening a lovely area to sit in out the back which catches the late evening sun

"The cottage was not luxurious, but very clean and comfortable, and we were completely happy with the facilities provided."
The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, and we particularly liked the fresh homemade scones brought round to us! Just a couple of little niggles - some of the instructions were not totally clear. Also, the description does not make it clear that the upstairs bathroom is reached from the bedrooms by going down and then up several stairs. We would certainly go back again if in the area.

"We had a lovely week’s holiday in st David’s staying in Y Bwthyn cottage."
The cottage is in the heart of this tiny city, so very close to shops, pubs and cathedral. It has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable relaxing stay, plus a homely atmosphere. The owner was there to greet us and couldn’t do enough to make us welcome, including providing homemade scones! Would definitely recommend this property.

"Lovely owners."
Great situation in St David's, everything we wanted!
-
"Very friendly and helpful owners."
Cottage is comfortable and located close to all amenities, including a large well stocked supermarket. In the upstairs shower room we would have liked a larger wash basin with plug and an electric razor point.
-
"Lovely, comfortable cottage in the centre of town."
Excellent location Very well equipped cottage with patio and clothes line! Friendly hosts.
-
"The cottage itself was generally unwelcoming, dark, drab and felt unclean."
The furniture and fittings were all very old and well worn, one would have found much better in a charity shop, or house clearance sale! The towels were threadbare; those that we brought to wipe down the dog were far superior. The patio was representative of the cottage, with an abundance of weeds, with the aroma of stale cooking oil from the adjoining cafe. We remained in the cottage for about two hours, only sufficient time to find other more suitable accommodation. Had we stayed longer then our comments would have been more detailed. On reviewing the Sykes web site, the photos you have included are obviously selective, and must have been taken some years ago, enhanced for brightness, but they are not truly representative. Furthermore, it is noted that whilst the cottage was given a 3 ticks rating, this is somewhat misleading, for this would appear to be your minimum rating.

"Beds uncomfortable."
No WiFi. Upstairs bathroom no mirror and tiny sink! Two showers both good. Appropriate facilities in kitchen.
-
"Cottage well situated in St David's city with it's own parking space."
Perfect as a base to explore the area.
-
"The cottage is in a most convenient location close to centre of St Davids."
I received a friendly welcome by the cottage owners who provided much information about the area and also provided greatly appreciated freshly baked scones. I enjoyed my weeks stay and will look forward to returning in the future.
-
"Owners very hospitable and offered extra heating in light of poor weather."
-
"Owner kind and friendly and available."
Brought us scones and cream from wifes cafe next door.

About the location
ST DAVIDS
Fishguard 15.5 miles; Pembroke 28.7 miles.
The city of St Davids is situated on the far south west coast of Wales. Granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II, it is the smallest city in the UK, with its magnificent cathedral dating back to the 12th century and the ruins of the Bishop's Palace, both wonderful buildings to explore. Situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, St Davids is a delightful place with an array of unique shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs, surrounded by spectacular coastal scenery. Nearby Whitesands Bay is one of the many beautiful beaches in the area, and walkers will delight in the spectacular views from the coastal path which runs around the complete coastline of Pembrokeshire. Local buses will help with your walking plans, so that you can walk several stretches of the path with totally different landscapes and views each day. Dolphin spotting from land or from the many boat trips to local islands are a must, and are also perfect for enjoying the wonderful array of birds in their natural habitat. St Davids is the perfect holiday destination, whether you are looking for a quiet relaxing break, wonderful walking, a round of golf, an exploration of magnificent castles or fun-filled days at Oakwood Theme Park, farm parks and much more.
