  • "Red Kite Cottage is in a beautiful location."

The cottage could be wonderful but it is very tired with damaged paintwork and damp patches. The cottage was very dirty and poorly equipped. There were only 4 sets of cutlery. The crockery was dirty and chipped. The bed linen and towels were soft and clean. We contacted the letting agent on check in regarding our issues but received no reply until after we had checked out.

Thank you for your comments and we are delighted to hear you enjoyed the beautiful location beside Talley Abbey. We're sorry that you felt the cottage was tired. It has been a particularly wet year and old stone cottages such as Red Kite Lodge will have the odd damp patch which discolours and flakes paint - please be assured that this is being attended to for the next guests. Thank you for bringing the chipped crockery to our attention. This has been replaced and we have added additional cutlery for future guests. We understand how important these details are to ensuring a positive experience for our guests and we pride ourselves on providing a quick solution to any issues raised. Unfortunately, in this case, we did not receive your email. The ways to contact us were provided with your travel details and also in the guest information booklet, but for future guests we will update this information to make these details more prominent, as we do offer a 24/7/365 phone service for guests to report any issues. If we had received a call on the above, I am confident we could have resolved these issues to your satisfaction, but can appreciate from your perspective this did not happen. Thank you again for providing feedback and giving us the opportunity to further improve the experience for future guests. We do hope we can welcome you back to Abbey Cottages in the future. • "We had a great stay at Red Kite Lodgea and the location was superb."

It's evident that a lot of thought has gone into the details. Everything we could have needed was supplied at the cottage and we felt instantly at home. We definitely plan to return. Our one recommendation is to update the information book and signs as some of the details about recycling and the internet were contradicting.
